11815 Well, I worked at Rawkus Records when Blackstar, Company Flow, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch and Sound Bombing 2 all came out... then after the label head embezzalled all the money, I worked at Def Jux records.

I'm a big fan of recent Cage(Hell's Winter), Josh Martinez, Aesop Rock, Sleep, Sweatshop Union, MF Doom, Danger Mouse and Jemini etc, etc.

I write music reviews for a living, and used to live up in Boston, so I know how you feel about the horrid over jam bandyness of the area.

For great Boston Area originals... check out Morphine. The lead singer passed a while ago, but they are one of the best original acts from Beantown. The street next to "The Middle East" in Cambridge is named after him... "Mark Sandman Square."

33313 I worked at "Veritas" in NYC... Bourdain was always wandering into the kitchen to drink with our executive. He was a really nice guy if he liked you. Or a prick on wheels if he didn't.

Then again, who isn't.

11815 Well, I guess I could blame my childhood spent near this desk for my own drunken recitation... though, I could also blame Billy Burroughs and Saul Williams.

If you don't know Saul Williams, I can't recommend him enough.

11815 I'm actually sitting at Roethke's desk. My father bought it from his Widow when he, my father, taught at the Univesity of Washington, Seattle.

Roethke was known to wander, drunk and naked into the middle of campus and recite his work under a flag pole.

2117 A hysterical look at the mayhem caused at the funeral of a man who was having an affair with a male dwarf.

And that's just for starters...

Has anyone else seen this movie?
Suzanne's review of Lullaby.

457015 I love Chuck Palahniuk. He is a gifted story teller and one of the masters of transgressive fiction. I feel like I should also recommend "Survivor" and "Invisible Monsters" by Chuck Palahniuk as must reads among his works.

Also, Heart Sick by Chelsea Cain. She is a member of Palahniuk's writer's group and created some interesting, flawed characters.
