Merry Christmas, Ladies. My name is JL, though I answer just as readily to Kirasha, my screen name. I'm a compulsive reader. While watching Gilmore Girls once, the episode where Rory goes to a dance with Dean and still has a book in her purse, a friend laughed at the 'caricature of a reader' they'd made Rory into and I had to explain that I make the ability to fit a book into a purse part of my requirements when buying purses in general. :-D
Outside of books, I masquerade as a Customer Support rep for a software company and dabble in various gaming and social networking hobbies.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Cheers!
Greetings all~!My name is JL (or Kirasha, I answer to my screen name as readily as my real one). Much of my reading habits tend to skew towards these genres in all their assorted subgenres. I was happy to see this groups listed on the GR blog this morning. I've been looking for a good reading group and only finding roleplaying groups under these genres.
I don't really have a favorite subgenre. I tend to prefer Fantasy to Science Fiction, though I enjoy both. My taste in authors tends to run the gamut from standards like Tolkien to more modern influences such as Tad Williams to the faerie tale inspired work of Terry Windling to the darker tapestries of Michael Moorcock.
Looking forward to future shared adventures with the members here!
Cheers!
Greetings!I'm JL (although I answer as readily to my screenname, Kirasha).
Currently I work in Customer Support for a software company, a job that is somewhat killing my spirit, hence the job changes. But I've also worked in theatre, mostly light design and stage management.
I've been writing for pleasure for most of my life, but recently have started turning my intentions into making a go of it more porfessionally, both in fiction (alone and with a partner) and technical writing. Although, to be honest, I still write more from the need to tell the story and put it out there than any desire for money. (Something that I'm sure drives my writing partner crazy sometimes.)
As a reader, I tend to skew towards speculative and romance, but I'll give pretty much anything a read, even the cereal box if there's nothing else printed available.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
