so true! i remember reading this as a kid and wondering at how they dummed down the book to such a large degree. although i call BS on the sudden ability to read! (that's the one scene i remember after 20 years.)

it was definitely worth reading, but it was one of those that took me forever to get into...and once i did i was entranced. a complicated world he puts together.

oooh! we should sit down and talk about this the next time i see you -- curious to know other people's impressions of this book.
