412izzduhkl I highly recommend you read some of her books, Micah. I know you'll love them! Try either this one first or maybe The Undomestic Goddess. Amazing!

2996 Paige, sorry, just saw your comment. I think you should definitely read River God, Seventh Scroll and The Warlock first. Trust me, it will make The Quest so much better for you.

2996 I just finished The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. Fantastic light read that I would highly recommend! I'm poking through Do You Think What You Think You Think and about to start The Quest by Wilbur Smith. Wilbur Smith is my favorite author and The Quest is the fourth book in my favorite series, so I'm super excited to start that one!

Hi Rebecca! ;)

153 Try River God by Wilbur Smith. It's set in ancient Egypt and involves a great love story, among other things.

153 I definitely think you would have enjoyed it more if you had read it all at once, rather than bit by bit over time. You get extremely involved in the characters. I love the way it tracks the same families over the centuries. Very cool.

153 Couldn't agree more. I lived about two blocks from the Seven Dials and was thrilled to see them pop up so early in the novel. I've even got it on my shelf to re-read when I get a chance.

153 I have to recommend my favorite author to anyone looking for some new historical fiction novels. Start with River God, a historical fiction epic about ancient Egypt. Move on to the sequel, The Seventh Scroll, and then to Warlock. I haven't read the latest of the ancient Egypt series, Quest, but I'll be reading it soon.

Also fabulous are his other novels, featuring the Courtney family (a British family who winds up settling in South Africa) and numerous other series set in historical Africa. Try Men of Men for a great story about the start of diamond mining in Africa.

I can't say why Wilbur Smith is my favorite historical fiction author, but I will say that he is far more than that to me. He's my favorite author. I haven't seen anything posted about his books, so I hope others will pick up some of his work and enjoy it as much as I do.
