I didn't like Wintergirls, either (and I like Chains, so I agree with you about Anderson as a writer).
Really? Hmmm. I guess nonfiction is a harder sell; also, I've found that sometimes the online community gets all excited about something that's not on other people's radar...yet. I hope they stock it now!
I definitely like Ramona better as she gets older! I found Ramona the Pest the most difficult to read aloud, too.
I have the sequel to this (Portrait in Sepia)--lmk if you'd like to borrow it and I'll bring it over.
Ack! I must get my hands on a copy of that Goldie book. I was a little surprised at how well-made Annabelle was, but maybe it was the handwork classes!
I feel the same way, Farida--it wasn't a compelling read, but I'm still thinking and wondering about it, a month or so later.
I just read this aloud to the kids, who loved it (almost) as much as I did. Minus the turtle tank chapters.
Stop by and check out my shelves if you need any more before you go, Laura--it'll be nice to visit before you go, too.
