I haven't, but that makes sense, since Disney got really preoccupied with England for a while there...
I've wanted to read this forever, but the copy I have has really tiny print and almost no margins. It's a lame reason to not read something, but I should probably just get a different edition out from the library...
The title's a little misleading, only one chapter (out of eight) is actually about Proust. Although of the eight people discussed in the book, I'm really only familiar with Virginia Woolf. I'll have to read some Proust first (although not until the end of the summer, because that would surely slow down my reading even more...)
Not About The Buildings is having its first-ever Fiction Prize, open to short story writers anywhere. Guest judge Rachel Cohn (who writes amazing teen novels like Shrimp, You Know Where To Find Me, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist) will be selecting the winning story, which will then be made into a fancy limited-edition letterpress chapbook. There's no fee to enter (though donations are always welcome!) and you can find out more at www.notaboutthebuildings.com
I HATE my copy of the book, which has ridiculously tiny print and every twenty or so pages has a sentence underlined where someone wrote "meaningful" or "related to sexuality" under it. But I've literally been meaning to read it since high school, so I figured it was time.
I read that book in high school and thought it was amazing. Although at this point all I remember is that the middle brother Ezra made up the prices of the food based on what he thought the people felt like paying.
sure, but don't send it to me, send it to school one. if you send it to me i'll surely squander it on useless crap like organic produce rather than actually giving it to the artist.
i went to a caroline b cooney lecture once to a room that was mostly full of college students, and the ENTIRE lecture was her passing around large reproductions of book jackets (mostly this one) from when her book was published in other countries. and while it's weird to know that in germany the jacket artist made a weird impressionist country scene, and in china they had to change the title altogether because nobody there drinks milk, it didn't change in my mind for one moment the fact that this woman is BORING.unrelatedly, i still have your print. as well as the entire rest of the high school art show.
i've never read the book, but i think the movie is severely underrated. ps--thanks for now being my friend on 47 different social networking sites. please let me know if you ever join last.fm, librarything, or bear411 so that it will continue to be easy to stalk one another.
