You should read Oscar Wilde's one act play, Salome. Especially if you can get a copy with Aubrey Beardsley's artwork :-)
You are SO hilarious! Now you've made me wonder if there's an Emo/Jewish ven diagram out there somewhere :-)
I'm not saying this just to sell books, but I have a story in Just Like A Girl: A Manifesta! and I feel my character, Ren, and her best friend are somewhat Rory-like. I've expanded the story since that publication, and there are recurring/related characters in my story that is in Women in Judaism:

Take care, All,

Thanks so much, both of you! Any news on getting the cover art for any of the other anthologies I'm in? I have files of the cover art if you'd like me to send it :-)
Take care,
Shaindel
P.S. My book will be out in February--I meet with a photographer Saturday to do "about the author" pics!
Interesting. This was written near where I live and people are obsessed with it--it's in all the little touristy shops, etc. I hadn't taken it seriously, but I can't wait to hear what you have to say about it.
I'm horrible at languages anyway... I actually host a talk radio show on poetry in translation where I interview all of these translators and they always ask what languages I work in. My running joke is that I'm barely getting by in English :-)
Really? Two stars? :-) Write a review, Thomas... Maybe it's an English professor thing--not the fantasy of seducing a student, but wondering what is "creative work" and what is a "cry for help."
It is amazing, amazing, amazing! My review should be published at Contrary Sept. 20-something. Whenever the vernal equinox is :-) Since we're a quarterly, we actually come out the first day of each season...
I personally like the film; it's not the best, but I think Kevin Costner is believable in most roles--unlike some actors where you know you're watching the actor acting...
I personally don't encourage posting anything online that isn't already published b/c it's too easy for someone to "steal" it and send it out as their own. At the college where I teach, we had a creative writing competition "scandal" because one student had stolen a poem from another student's MySpace blog and the prize for the contest was pretty considerable--$100 and a 3 credit hour (one course) scholarship. The stakes are much, much higher in some cases.
If you go to http://www.puddinghouse.com/ and read their "breaking news" section, there's a story about a plagiarizer who has been stealing poems from various authors and sending them in for some big-time prizes--thousands of dollars from Random House, etc. I just think you can't be too careful.
Best,
S
Hi, Everyone...
Thanks so much for the congrats on Outsider Writers and the book deal. I've just returned from a writers' retreat and am catching up but didn't want you to think I hadn't noticed your kindness.
Hugs,
Shaindel :-)
