Clearly, I liked this one better than you did :-). Feel free to pass it on - I don't need it back. (Did you see Cheryl H.'s comment on the review on my blog? She REALLY didn't like it.)
Ooh, you're ahead of me. I'm reading this one next week. If you've got time for a guest review, I'd love to post one from you!
Reading this one right now, and not too far into it yet, but already liking it a lot. I'm a big Jennifer Weiner fan :-).
Is this just "to-read" meaning you want to read it, or do you have a copy already? If not, let me know if you want to borrow mine (this was a keeper).
Katie is reading this too, and really enjoying it. I've been resisting, but maybe I should give in.And your dog-loving sister thinks that anything that helps you understand us dog people better must be a good thing :-).
I've got a review copy (ARC) of this too - hope to get to it soon! I'll be interested in comparing opinions with you (eventually).
But how many writers ARE in his league? For my money - not that I have any, so this opinion's not worth much - he's may be the best writer of our generation.
I just started reading this last night. My copy's signed too :-). Josh has done a lot of outreach to book bloggers, and he offered me the book for review. It's out in paperback later this month, and I THINK he's also sending a copy of the PB for a blog giveaway. (Guess you won't be entering :-).)I also have my books listed on LibraryThing. The list is a duplicate of what's here, mostly. LT is a little less social network and more about book info, so I actually like being both there and on GoodReads.
Keep your hair in, girl! I know how the "no time" thing goes...
Really?! I am just a bit envious and starstruck, knowing someone who has been in the same room as Michael Chabon :-). I've read a couple of his wife's books too, and liked them, but she's a whole different kind of writer.
The India part did slow things down a bit, I must agree. I read that she was supposed to be doing some reading/speaking engagements with Anne Lamott, and I think that would have been a perfect double bill. And I really can't disagree about the writing quality, or the self-indulgent aspects.
I really wish GoodReads let you use half-stars in the ratings (LibraryThing does!). This is one of my absolute favorite first novels, even if it pretty clearly is a first novel.
My favorite Chabon novel, I think, and that's saying a lot, because I absolutely love his writing. (And the movie turned out better than I expected.) I'm glad to know someone else who loves it too.
This one's still sitting in TBR purgatory :-). I picked it up at the LA Times Festival of Books this past spring - hopefully I'll get it read before the NEXT festival! :-)
I just finished this one - review will be posted at my blog on Thursday. I thought it was very good. Michelle Richmond is officially on my "favorite authors" list now.
