Stefani's review of Hyperion.

77566 Thanks for the spoiler warning, Stefani. I was tempted to read your comments but will wait till I've read the book. Soon, I hope!

51d3cu%2bmw-l Congrats, Sharon!

3255703 I probably wouldn't let him in, at first. But then he'd tempt me with something like scotch on the rocks, and then I'd submit. That sly devil. ;)
Martin's review of Disgrace.

6192 eenteresting... Thanks Martin, I shall bump it up my list.

31lrjayftol Well, I think it's time for another 'to-read sooner short list' from my very long 'to-read some day', list. And I'll certainly include this one! Thanks, Myf.
06/30/2008 03:06PM

31lrjayftol That one looks interesting. I'm in!

51y2lejygtl Hey, I caught that one, too, Kat. It only confirmed that I want to read his book. Plus, I've always liked that fellow Canuck.
06/23/2008 12:27PM

844989 No, I haven't, Kath, but I'm looking forward to this novel. And then I'll read more of Maxwell, I'm guessing. What a great place this is for recommendations. Cheerios, pal!
06/12/2008 06:32AM

1368241 Nah, I don't think this one will do it, Kat. It's quite light and silly and I don't recommend it unless you're a hockey fan à la Don Cherry.

Instead I'd recommend another humourous, Canadian novel that also has an old curmudgeon of a protagonist, that is, Mordecai Richler's Barney's Version. ... But, I just checked and you've read it, already. Maybe we'll just have to wait for another Nick Hornby dramady.
06/01/2008 06:30AM

1368241 This collection sounds interesting, Kat. Too bad, though, it didn't provide the lift you were looking for. I think my next read will be Paul Quarrington's King Lear. That's the book that was selected on this year's, Canada Reads. And, for the first time, it's a humorous book that won the competition! I'll let you know if this one is fun and uplifting, and worth the read.

510cjnj597l Oh yes, definitely a treasure. I just swung by a second-hand book store for a quick peek (which is never quick!) and picked up her Blind Assassin and Alias Grace. The 2 of hers from my 'to read' list. And several other books, of course!
05/19/2008 08:26AM

510cjnj597l I think I read her novel Surfacing in high school, but was too young to appreciate it. I read her short story compillation, Moral Disorder, and loved it. And I've been dying to read a good Atwood novel for a while, and this is the one for me, I think!
Kathy's review of Plays in One Act.
04/23/2008 10:45AM

51223 Me, too. I'm right behind you, Kath! Someone should open a room at Zoeotrope just for one act plays. But after I read these books!
Denis's review of Every Burning Thing.

3114523 The pleasure is mine, Carrie. I'm looking forward to savouring it, too. I'm thinking, this summer at the cottage would be perfect. Cheers, mate!
Denis's review of The Mind Parasites.

14495 No, I haven't heard of Delany, Linda. Although the name does ring a bell? I've recently decided to add Sci-Fi into my reading rotation. I have a lot of catching up to do!
04/12/2008 06:37AM

41yy1ksg1sl I plan on reading that one this year, Kat. I'm looking forward to your review!
Denis's review of Angela's Ashes.
04/09/2008 06:33AM

77344 Thanks, Krista. I've decided not to read 'Tis, afterall. It's not the first time I'm told it's dissapointing. Maybe I'll get someone like, Krista!, to fill me in on what happens. ;)
04/02/2008 10:43AM

41yy1ksg1sl Hey, lucky you! He does sound interesting, too. If he swings by Ottawa I'll do the same.
03/31/2008 10:57AM

4144pfgbypl Damn, what a no-nonsense, to the point book title. I'm intrigued. I so agree. I'm in!
