I think you'll really enjoy it. Anderson has a terrific way of pulling you into the story. I'll be interested to see how it comes off as an audio read. :)
Interesting comment. I could see where that would happen for you. While I liked the book well enough, it just didn't "sing" for me. But I can definitely appreciate how it made you feel.
Let me echo what Beth said. I adore this book and read it repeatedly as a child/teen. I've even read it with a class of students. Excellent!

Believe it or not, my Sunday School class at church is planning to read this one in January. We're a literature based class, led by a lawyer who majored in English lit. I'm interested to see what she's going to pull out of this one to use in a church setting.

Not being as politically astute as you are, Jenny <smile>, I think I enjoyed this book more. It certainly opened my eyes to an area that I had romanticized. I learned a good deal and laughed a lot. :)

No, it's not what I normally think of! I laugh at the kids and pigs on the runway and his description of flying Air Kiribati. The fact that the plane was held together with tape is hilarious! I loved this one and hope to get the next one soon.
I just started it last night but so far I'm enjoying it immensely. He's got a way with words, that's for sure.
I just haven't had as much time to read this week as I'd like. Going back to work just sucks (pun intended), lol. Hopefully I can read more this weekend.

Just started it this afternoon, Beth. Intriguing so far, but I do wonder why authors seem to want to have the heroes be such Goth creatures lately. JMHO.
