Sometimes when an author CHANGES a genre..like from fiction to non-fiction books, they will use a slightly differnt name on their books to keep readers from being confused. Might be why she has TWO differnt sights and names. Look at the books listed. If they are completely differnt in genre, you will know that is why. If they are the same....then I do believe they can combine the two.
Well, my view is simple. I feel a christian genre book, should be sold as such, only if it meets these requirements.
1.)We can not judge if the author is a christian, as only God knows this. So the content of the story-line must be from a christain's point of view, whether we agree with what is written or not, it still must pertain to God's will in some way.
2.)The Main Character(s) in the storyline, should carry themselves as christains somewhere in the plot. (they may be saved later in the story, or even in the beginning.
3.)When I read a christian novel, I want to feel like I am walking the story line with a christain character somewhere in the book! Someone that show bravery, or executes good will towards others. Even if its a small part!
4.)Lastly, I would think a religous content would be needed if it were to be labled Christian genre anyway?
Have any of you read any that were not?
Derek, thank you for the five star rating! Coming from a seasoned and loved author such as yourself, I am so glad to hear that my novel, The Gates to Love and War moved you to new heights of emotion and adventure!
If you liked my debut novel...You will love the sequel..(set in Egypt)...called "The Heart of Vengeance)..a surprise plot! Then comes book three, "The Secret of the Stone" to end the trilogy...the third of the trilogy takes place in my beloved Petra, Jordan! All three have the same heroine,of course, but differnt players in the game!*winks*

Diana, Thank you for the five star review! I am glad you enjoyed it! I have a sequel that takes place in Egypt called "The Heart of Vengeance" won't give away storyline, but I have to say, it will be my best work. Will return when I've read yours as well!

Werner, I changed my comment #3 to further make understanding; Sex does 'not' have to be in a book for me to rate it a FIVE! But, if you ARE going to write a sex scene, which writers sometimes do...#3 comment is my personal opinion as a 'reader' and for them only to consider my opinion. I feel there are books out there for every kind of person's desires for reading. With over 300k books printed in USA last year...SURELY one can find a book they like to read!..lol...
Me, personally, I feel that I am a reader; the purchaser of books, and if authors write to please themselves, they sit on their books with no sales. But, if a writer puts forth the idea to write to SELL books to the average Joe(me), they have a greater chance of doing so, and they do so by 'listening' to their reader's wants and needs in their genre choice. Hence this Forum!
'Give readers what they are asking for and they will buy it!'
Hugs to all and keep the comments(opinions) coming. This group is heading off on a rolling start! A special thanks to Karen and Werner for starting the posting!

Okay, here goes, these are my opinions of the books I've read so far, in general.
1.)Please do not over use exotic names, it tends to DRAIN the excitement out of them, Conner, Rafe, Spencer, Hunter...etc...sure they are exciting, but not if overused! Give me a sexy hero named Jake or Zach again! Females names such as Kat or Cat...is in every other book I read! There is a whole alphabet!
2.) Don't treat your heroine like she is a "virgin" if she is over 25..ODDS ARE AGAINST IT! (unless it's historical or she is a Nun)if she is a virgin..ODDS are against a GREAT-'MULITPLE' orgasm...leave that part in the next love scene..(like in the movie;'Firelight'!(Innocence in an adult women is great, but virginity is rare!)
3.) (EDITED BY REQUEST)Don't 'skip' the sex scene after all the hard work you've put into the PRE-FLIRTING moments of a romance by giving a female a few pecks and a jab!...Sex is a natural part of a GOOD relationship or a BAD one!*winks*..and dedicate a full chapter to the actual event, from beginning scene to ending breathless moment. If not, then remove the sex scene all together, and move on with the storyline. I just personally find a 'hero' minute-man, very unsexy!
4.) Do not have your lovers have great 'mulitple' orgasms without at least mentioning that they "washed" themselves with a washcloth or hankerchief down by the river or something! YECK!..lol..PLEASE keep me, as the reader in character's POV, CLEAN!
5.) Watch your POVs (point of views) when switching. Try seperating your paragraphs, or not indenting when POV changes. Change no more than twice a chapter if possible.
6.) My number one pet peeve...*drum roll please*...The use of "violet" eyes! Who has violet eyes?? Maybe they had colored contacts in the year 1864!!
I have more, and remember they are just my OWN opinion, but waiting for others to post there pet peeves!...:)

I write suspense, romance, historical romances, all with War-time genres to them. I began by writing mostly for friends still overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. They love reading a good ending to their otherwise miserable day to day life there. Some have lost wives/husbands to both regualar and online affairs, taking their children with them to other countries, even leaving them pennyless, homeless, and childless when they get back on US soil. Shame, but they need to see that they can start again, and that their children do love them. I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to those sung and unsung heroes, that serve our nation daily, both abroad and at home. And say Thank you to all wives/hubbys and their children that have done their duty to stick by their hero!

All I can say is Derek Hart is a genius with the quill and I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend novel. I read it slow to soak in his words and my thoughts, but it was exciting and full of intrigue to the end. Thank you Derek for the FREEBY!! Anyone can read "Tales of the Yellow Silk" by Derek Hart, by simply following the instructions on his Goodreads site. Don't forget to put Derek on your Summer reading list!

Excellent! Just like becoming an author on bookreads, the way through is hard to see here sometimes! I am glad it is available! Thank you for your answer Rivka!

I would like to see and post video "Book Trailers" on the Author profile pages, I think book trailers are a great way to allow a fun side of a book to be brought to life, and it increases sales as well. You could even have a 'book trailer of the day' on your goodreads home page to help promote reading!
Most authors have a YouTube trailer and would love to upload them here where it really would be appreciated by the public.
What do you all think?
