Tyas Yes, it does say so, haha. But to me it feels more like a justification so that the author can write the story about the gods living in America (on the 600th floor or Empire State Building, to be exact). The gods hold that the Western civilization is something 'real' that moves around, and the gods follow the centre wherever it goes. But like a character says near the end of this book, Western civilization is not as great as the gods may think so perhaps I need to edit this review a bit - discussion on that will be withheld. I need to read the series more to see whether Riordan has something more to say about this Western civilization.

Hey, the book does say that Hades has the same eyes as Hitler, Napoleon, and terrorist leaders. :)

I loved the book and agree that the character of Percy is very funny, his humor and sarcasm make the book better than it would be without it. America is the center of Western Civilization. Hooray, I think.
