Hi Sanya, I've read this a few years ago. And got up to #28 or 29 in the series. Lost count anyway. My friend Wendy hasn't read this series either, so we're starting a buddy-read today.

First time around I gave it 4 stars. See how we go this time. :)

It is a very good series. Part mystery, part romance. But weighted more to the mystery, although the hero, Roarke is.....*sigh*.....wonderful!

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* Im up to Betrayal in Death on a re-read I LOVE these books, each one is different/unique in its own way and Roarke is to *swoon* for *sigh* You wont regret reading them Sanya..and once you start one, they are like potato chips..gotta have another:D

You're right, Sandi! I haven't read this for a few years. I'm interested in how I'll like it in 2012.

message 5: by Sanya (new)

Sanya That's what I'm afraid of - I can NEVER leave potato chips until I eat them all...and there are like 40 books! ;)

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* The one I just finished"Judgment in Death" Oh wow..the emotions between these two in this book was awesome..Roarke at his best..(gave me goosebumps) :) And the next one is even better..more of his past to creep back..duh..dun..:)

@ Sandi
I'm always amazed at the level of writing that has continued throughout this series. Most authors can't seem to manage to keep the momentum and interest going after 3 or 4 books.

Hi Quynh! I hope she does too! I'm kinda think yes though. :)

I *think* you'd like it, Sanya. Mystery with romance. A cop and a squillionaire. 35+ books in the series. What's not to love??

message 13: by Sanya (new)

Sanya I think I'd like it, too, but I hate when I have to fight my addiction to series, not wanting to do anything but read all day long, LOL!

message 14: by Quynh (last edited Nov 08, 2012 06:48AM) (new)

Quynh There's many great things about this series that once you start, you can't stop.
1) ROARKE! *fans self* and that accent and that gorgeous body and access to every resources known to mankind.
2) Eve, a strong yet flawed heroine. Some people take a while to like her because of her personality but I loved her from the get go.
3) Awesome secondary characters, there's many along the way and you'll love everyone of them.
4) Great character developments. This is one of those series that does this really well. You're always learning more about them.
5) The mystery of guessing the killer(s). Some will even surprise you.

You won't be bored reading about Eve and Roarke, that's for sure! Alright, I'm stop gushing about them now lol.

message 15: by Quynh (new)

Quynh Oh and I love the picture updates Jill! They're how I envision Eve and Roarke to look like as well. :D Though now it's hard for me to picture Stana Katic as Eve since I equate her with Beckett on Castle. Another series I adore.

message 16: by Sanya (new)

Sanya He's soooo hotttt! I always imagine my heroes exactly like him.

@ Quynh
I have read this series through to around book #27/28/29. Somewhere there, I lost count. Anyway, Wendy hasn't read this series before (*gasp* I know!) so we decided to read at least the first book together.

And totally agree with points 1-5, Quynh! And yep, I'm a 'Castle' fan too!

You're right, Sanya! I think Mr G suits (almost) every fictional hero ever!

@ Sandi
I've still to read the last few books in this series. I hate getting behind as it's so difficult to catch up.

message 21: by Quynh (new)

Quynh You can catch up and then wait 6 months in agony for each book like I do now haha. And yay for another Castle fan. :D

I'm determined 2013 is going to be the year to catch up on all those books I've bought and not read!

Same for me Jilly! I've had CM's Unraveled forever and just realized tonight that I hadn't read it! Now that's just sad.

I agree the first few are the best, Bama. Although I haven't caught up on the more recent ones. Apparently there's a really good one there.

You have to at least read Innocent In Death and New York to Dallas. These two are really pivotal later on in the series. Just be prepare to have your heart yanked.

You're welcome Becs! David Gandy has the most perfect masculine face. Handsome without being pretty.

message 30: by Dd (new)

Dd I really do love all your pics...all that hotness for Wen**sigh**!!

Blacky *Romance Addict* Wow, fabulous pictures! I heard this is a great series, but it doesn't attract me much, because it's one of those never-ending ones about the same characters :( Don't know why they write books like that :(

message 32: by Jill (new)

Jill @ Dd
Wen is the one who introduced most of us to David Gandy. It's the least I could do for her! :)

@ Blacky
Thanks Blacky! I guess the attraction (at least for me) is to see their growth as a couple and their ups and downs. Plus, the mystery and secondary characters are great as well.

message 33: by Dija (new)

Dija Great review, Jill, love the pictures. :) I like this series, but can't digest too many of them at once, LOL.

message 34: by Dija (new)

Dija It's not about the number of books, it's simply because of the content. All that murder is just not that appealing to me for long periods of reading time, so I take this series in doses.

Kristen (Peddler of Smut) Great picture review, Jill.

message 36: by Karla (new)

Karla THE MOST BESTEST REVIEW EVER!!!

"The squillionaire suspect

LMAO...ain't that the truth!!

Love, love the spoiler...perfection!
You are priceless Jill!

message 37: by Quynh (new)

Quynh So much DG goodness!! And love the gray button. It's amazing that he still carries that thing around after all this time. *sigh* Awesome review Jill.

message 38: by Jill (new)

Jill @ Dija
Yeah, I love this series too. But I'm a bit behind - 5 or 6 books. Thanks Dija!

@ Bamagal
Interesting tidbit there, Bama. I had no idea. Thankfully I came to this series when it was well established and haven't had to wait for new releases. I just have trouble keeping up with them!

@ Kristen
Thanks Kristen! I did a review in pics instead of words as almost everyone knows this series and NiD has been out forever.

@ Karla
Thanks Karla! It was no hardship searching for pics!

@ Quynh
Thanks Quynh! I know, I love that thing with Roarke and the button. *double sigh*
