Richard Derus I don't know if you're familiar with the midges that infest the south and central US, René, but the author chose just the right name for annoying little mosquito-like bloodsucker of no discernible use except to be food those larger than himself.

René @Richard excellent! No, I wasn't aware of midges. The narrator does mention a few times that he has a bird-like face, with all the features concentrated in the center of it.

Richard Derus Portis does that sort of quiet layering of subtle "easter eggs" a good deal. I like it.

Mala Hey René how's life? Have you also got into the habit of writing long reviews?
This is your longest that i've come across so far!

René Hey Mala - it seems I am a little more verbose these days. I guess I've gotten into the review habit.
