 ~V~ Wow, well that's a bummer! :(

Mary Beth I hate it when that happens. It makes you want to write them and tell them to get a new reviewer, one that will tell them what really need to be fixed.

Yeah. I know a lot of people loved this book but it was too much for me. Shame really because it had such potential.

Haha. I was was becoming so annoyed that I was ready to throw my kindle. I love my kindle too much so it was either stop reading or ruin my kindle. Easy choice. Lol. Thanks BamaGal.

I know a lot of people loved this book but comedy is tricky, you know? Thanks Mary Beth. :)

KindleRomance Reviews Nice review. Comedians have it hard, and writing humor is even harder. Very few authors have pulled it off successfully IMO.

Thanks Kris. I agree comedy is really hard to pull off successfully. Angst is much easier to write.

You may like it. Humor is tricky. What works for one doesn't for another. Give it a try when you have time, you may love it OR you'll put it down like me. Lol.

Kelly Nice review, Kristen! I had planned on reading this, but maybe I'll reconsider.

Kristen Kelly wrote: "Nice review, Kristen! I had planned on reading this, but maybe I'll reconsider."

Honestly, you may like it. You should give it a try. This book is a hot item right now. Keep reading reviews from people you trust and go from there. Humor is tricky to write. It works for some and not others.

So true, the mixed reviews make me want to try this one. Humor in fiction is so subjective. Sandra Hill, RL Mathewson...etc also have wildly mixed reviews too, but they usually work for me. But other comedy authors, I just don't get.

Baba ♥♥♥ Tyler, Marcus, Archer, Dean, Adrian, Dan & Hunter This book started out hilarious and I was having a blast reading it until I wasn't. It stopped being funny and started to become annoying.
I think Michelle had the same issues, Kristen. Boy, I am soooo glad that I haven't read it yet. And I won't, that's for sure. Thank you for your review, Kristen!

I may still give it a try, Kristen. I agree-what's funny to one person may just seem silly to someone else.

Katy BamaGal wrote: "Well, I applaud you for being able to dnf it. I am sooo bad about slugging thru bad books until the bitter end, like I owe the author or something..."

I used to be like that, but since I started doing reviews, I've started dnf-ing things I just can't plod through. Sometimes I'll re-try later, but often it's just... there is way too little time left in my life to force myself to read something I'm not enjoying, you know?

Hmm ... BamaGal... if that means what I think it means, we're practically neighbors! Well, globally speaking :-)

message 21: by Karla (new)

Karla With my sick sense of humor, I will probably enjoy this! You know what you like, and apparently this wasn't it. Great review Kristen.

Haha. You might. Searock gave a sample of what the humor is like in her review. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

It was too much for me though.

Though this book isn't for me, I hope it works for you when you're more in the mood for this type of humor.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Sorry it didn't work for you, Kristen! For me, at the time, it was exactly what I needed. Thank you for being honest about how you felt about it!

message 30: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Thanks Dhes. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. Humor is tricky to write. It works for some but not others. Angst is easy, it pretty much works for everyone. Lol.

How sweet are you! Thank you, Blair. Yes, this one didn't work for me but humor can be very tricky. I admire authors willing to give it a go. I'm glad this one worked so well for you.

message 33: by Katy (new)

Katy And *I* love that Kristen didn't automatically assume Blair was criticizing her for having a different opinion! This is how book discussions are *supposed* to work! Ah, what a breath of fresh air, you guys - you rock...

You're so sweet, Katy!

You've reminded me of a great quote from Rhonda Byrne's 'The Secret:

“There are no limits to what you can create for you, because your ability to think is unlimited! But you cannot create other people's lives for them. You cannot think for them, and if you try to force your opinions on others you will only attract like forces to you. So let all others create the life they want.”

message 37: by Katy (new)

Katy That is an awesome quote! If it isn't already included in the database here, you should totally add it. There are so many people on this site that need to be reminded of this.

message 38: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Nice honest review Kristen! I've heard all sorts of different reviews about this. 5 stars down to 1 star. I will trust you though on this one, because we have very similar taste in books. ;)

Kristen Wendy wrote: "Nice honest review Kristen! I've heard all sorts of different reviews about this. 5 stars down to 1 star. I will trust you though on this one, because we have very similar taste in books. ;)"

Thank you, Wendy. It does seem that the more popular this book becomes the more diverse the reviews. I think it boils down to what one feels is funny. Personally, I don't enjoy this type of humor. You may like it though. I have a hard time with disrespectful and crude humor, but many people don't. If that kind of humor doesn't bother you, you may end up liking this book.

message 43: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Dee wrote: "Shame it wasn't a goodun!....Sounds like I will give it a definite miss!"

I didn't enjoy it but many people I trust did. It pretty much depends on the type of humor you like.

Taryn at My Secret Romance I was on the fence about this one. Thanks for the review. It was a good and honest one. I honestly think I would have the same feelings as you did.

message 45: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Taryn-does it have romance? wrote: "I was on the fence about this one. Thanks for the review. It was a good and honest one. I honestly think I would have the same feelings as you did."

You're welcome, Taryn. This book didn't work for me but so many friends I trust loved it. It's been interesting to see who this book works for and who it doesn't. There've been friends I was sure would hate the book who gave it 5 stars, then there have been friends I was sure who would love the book that gave it one star or a DNF. It's all about what you find funny.

Dee Kristen wrote: "Dee wrote: "Shame it wasn't a goodun!....Sounds like I will give it a definite miss!"

I am not sure it would appeal to my sense of humour, I would probably be like you in that I would enjoy it to start off with but then it would get extremely annoying.

Just quickly checked the book blurb out again and it still hasn't made me want to rush and read it, so I still think I am gonna give this a miss!

message 47: by Kristen (new)

Kristen It's a good idea to skip it then, Dee. It would just be waste of money. :)

message 48: by Stacia (new)

Stacia Leigh Up to half way I totally disagreed with your review! I gave this 5 stars for all the laughs...but then, somewhere around half way it stopped being funny and the jokes got in the way of the story. Now, I have to agree...I'm losing my interest at 90% done.

Whether this book works for people or not depends on what one considers funny. Personally, this book stopped being funny for me and just became crude humor. Many loved it so it really does boil down to what one find funny. I'm sorry it's stopped working for you, Stacia. It sucks when that happens.
