AH I enjoyed this collection too. Great review, Danielle.

Danielle The Book Huntress (Angels Weep For Goodreads) Thanks, AH! I saw your review (and liked it!).

Catherine Great review, Danielle! This is your first Liu? Well then I'm glad you've finally discovered her. I really like her writing.

AH Thanks, Danielle. This is one anthology that really was enjoyable. I think I liked all the stories except the Vicki Petersson story.

Catherine, can you recommend a good Liu book? All I remember from this anthology was that she wrote the longest opening sentence ever. I did enjoy her story - if I remember correctly, it had a "Crouching Tiger" kind of feel.

Danielle The Book Huntress (Angels Weep For Goodreads) Thanks, Catherine. I've actually read two of her books and another short story. I'm a big fan of her.
AH, I loved Shadow Touch.

Gemma I just finished "Two Ghosts for Sister Rachel and really liked it." It gave a bit of backstory to Pierce Rachel and her brother.

Danielle The Book Huntress (Angels Weep For Goodreads) I have only read the first three Rachel books so far, so this is the first time I met Pierce. I liked him.

AH Pierce appears in the later books, after the 5th or 6th book (I think). I had often wondered how Rachel knew him, but this short story explains it. I also love how it explains Rachel's illness.

Thanks for the rec, Danielle.

Gemma I like Pierce, even in the later books.

Danielle The Book Huntress (Angels Weep For Goodreads) You're welcome, AH.

I'm glad to know we see more of Pierce.

Gemma and in a really cool way too! I love the hollows series and its one where there is very strong f/f sexual tension which I don't mind at all.

Danielle The Book Huntress (Angels Weep For Goodreads) I have picked up on the tension b/w Rachel and Ivy, but I just don't like Ivy! I want to, but I don't! I hope they don't end up together.

Francesca the Fierce (Under the Covers Book Blog) I agree with you, I don't want her ending up with Ivy, and I don't want to see any more sexual tenstion between them either, but the way the books are going now, I don't think they'll get together so that makes me happy. It would be too much of a twist. Pierce is the one from Rachel when she was a teenager right? It's been a while since I read about Rachel! But I'm looking forward to Pale Demon coming out in February.

AH I didn't like the Rachel/Ivy tension. It kind of felt like hunter/prey kind of tension vs. sexual tension. But, that's just my take on the matter.

Danielle The Book Huntress (Angels Weep For Goodreads) I agree, AH. I think she was stalking Rachel for her blood. It icked me out in the third book. Francesca, that's good news if it doesn't look like they'll get together!

I think her books are best read in order, but I don't think that'll be a hard and fast rule for everyone. It's hard for me to pick a favorite because they all have something going for them.

The Dirk & Steele books are my favorites, but that's because they have such variety in the leads and the supernatural people. You might like the Hunter's Kiss series though. It's pretty solidly UF and follows the heroine through each book. It's pretty cool because her tattoos are live and vary between being on her body and not.

But if you'd like a standalone (sort of) there's always A Taste of Crimson. I thought that one was interesting.

Catherine No problem, although I don't know how much help I was. :)
