Melissa I'm sort of curious how you can give a book 1-star when its not even out? If you don't like the author why would you even waste your time involving yourself with one of her books??

Wow. I'm glad you brought this to my attention. I didn't realize I had this book accidentally rated as a 1 star. I must have somehow added it without knowing, considering the fact I'm not farmilar with the author or the book. It was an honest mistake. I will say, however, I felt your comments to me were a little harshly stated. Personally, I don't understand why people continue to read books or authors that clearly do not work for them, that said, everyone is entitled to his/her own choices and opinions. Thanks again for bring this to my attention so I could correct the problem.

Karla Wow Melissa...how can you judge someone when you don't even know who they are, or what they are about?! Jeez I'm coming over here to mark this "to-read" and I see this comment. A lot of people get advanced copies on books the are coming out...all the time! Maybe you shouldn't waste your time making comments like this and ask her if she got the book in advance.

So Kristen, did you get an advance copy of the book? Just wondering!

message 4: by Karla (new)

Karla My bad Kristen. I must have been posting at the same time as you. Slip on the keys...eh? Happens to me all the time. I can't tell you how many times I've had to go back and fix a book to "to-read" from read, when someone asks me how it was. LOL!

See Melissa, perfectly good explanation!

No, I didn't. I just accidentally marked the book 1 star. As I was telling Melissa, I've never hear of the book or the author. Just an honest mistake. Now that the book has been brought to my attention, however, it does sound interesting.

I have one loaded on my Kindle that I bought a while ago, but I haven't had a chance to read it Between the Lines, I hear good things about it!

Kristen (Peddler of Smut) Thank you, Karla. Also, I'll check out the book. I'm not a huge YA fan but I've liked most of the ones I've read.

message 8: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Wow Melissa, that's a bit harsh! It's an honest mistake.

message 9: by Arlene (new)

Arlene Kristen, that happens to me all the time when I add books from my Nook or Blackberry. I mean to add them as "To Read" and they get marked "Read" and some even come back with a star rating that I never intended to apply. You're not alone. :)

BTW, I added this book to my TBR today. I hope it's good.

message 10: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Hey Guys, SORRY!! There has been A LOT of author bullying going around Amazon & GR and I have noted that some people have been punking Authors in an effort to lower their sales!!

Obviously I jumped the gun, so my bad!! I am like a HUGE fan of Tammara and when I saw that her book without even being published was rated a 3.00 I got really confused.

Please don't stone me.

I promise I am a really nice person, just passionate about my favs!! And people are totally allowed their own opinions, I just don't get legitimate negative reviews of books that aren't even released... Make sense?

Again... SO SORRY!!

message 11: by Melissa (new)

Melissa p.s. Did I mention that I am sorry? *cowers in the corner feeling really bad*

message 12: by Searock (last edited Mar 16, 2012 03:45PM) (new)

Searock Perfectly fabulous example of why I consider it
bad form
to "visit" another reviewers review and give them any sort of pooh whatsoever.

@Melissa, you were just waltzing by and decided to stop in and take a jab?

Thank you for reminding me why its kinda yucky to do that and I will watch my own behavior from here on.

message 13: by Karla (new)

Karla Melissa wrote: "Hey Guys, SORRY!! There has been A LOT of author bullying going around Amazon & GR and I have noted that some people have been punking Authors in an effort to lower their sales!!

No stones Melissa, I am all about love and reading and awesome pictures! Ye,p you make a lot of sense and it happens to the best of us. I guess I could see how it could upset the fans and author to be rated on a book that hasn't been released.

I've heard great things about this author, but I haven't had a chance to read any books yet. Did you read Between the Lines?? I have that and heard it's very good.

message 14: by Melissa (new)

Melissa p.p.s. since the only good to come from this obvious misconception (totally brought on by yours truly) is the inadvertent marketing of her book(s), then I just to have to say that "Between the Lines" is a freaking fantastic series. My favorite being book #3.

You may all want to ignore my thoughts considering my initial "harsh" comment, but I promise you it was done out of frustration from seeing the same thing before to other Authors I love and they weren't honest mistakes. They were done with the complete knowledge to lower the ratings. Why people do this I have no idea, but apparently its trending. *sigh*

message 15: by Melissa (new)

Melissa opps we typed at the same time so YES its an AWESOME series!!!

message 16: by Karla (new)

Karla I can't wait to read it. I've been yearning for a good YA. It was between that and the Perfect Chemistry series. Right now I'm reading Catching Fire, from The Hunger Games. My goodness that series is brutal. Have you read it?

Hey I like your pic, your daughter is cute!

message 17: by Melissa (new)

Melissa side-note: just so you don't think I am a crazed fan who goes around bullying bad-reviews of my favorite books,(people are 100% entitled to their own opinions) the illegitimate ratings are done in order to lower book sales (again why people can be this cruel I have no idea), and I just trying to get those people who are intentionally doing that to stop. I hope you can understand that.

Once again Kristen I jumped the gun, didn't mean to get everyone's panties in a bunch. I'm in a book club with a lot of these indie authors (Tammara included) so I made it personal when I shouldn't have. Sorry!!

Melissa Karla wrote: "I can't wait to read it. I've been yearning for a good YA. It was between that and the Perfect Chemistry series. Right now I'm reading Catching Fire, from The Hunger Games. My goodness that series ..."

Yes, I read the entire series TWICE!! I already have tickets to go and see the movie since I am that much of a fan (pathetic I know).

But books are my first obsession and movies made from my favorite books are a close 2nd :) Thanks for the compliment on my kiddo - I love her to pieces.

If/when you start In Between the Lines, just promise me you will finish all 3! I thought I was gonna hate book 3 because of who it was about and it was the BEST book in the entire series. Seriously.

message 19: by Karla (new)

Karla I see the reverse over at Amazon too. People posting reviews that are all good to boost sales. Then I come over here and check out reviews that I trust before I buy. Sometimes I even go over to B & N to see what people are saying over there. It's all so confusing, sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and go with your heart!

message 20: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Karla wrote: "I see the reverse over at Amazon too. People posting reviews that are all good to boost sales. Then I come over here and check out reviews that I trust before I buy. Sometimes I even go over to B &..."

Totally! I check several sites before I ever purchase a book and then ask friends if they have ever read them. Worse comes to worse, I borrow them on lendle if I am not willing to take the gamble on paying for it. Both ways of affecting reviews/ratings are wrong. And why someone would want to support a bad book or not support a good book confuses me to no end.

oh well, I just love GOOD books :)

Will do Melissa! I'm curious to know what you think of the HG movie! Is it just going to be one movie or 3? I hope they don't butcher it...uh maybe that's not a good choice of words.

Perfect Chemistry is on my TBR list!! I have a lot of friends who LOVE LOVE LOVE them :) I have been meaning to start them, but I am waiting on Nicole Williams release of Fissure first and I have several hardbacks I got on loan from the library that I need to finish.

message 23: by Karla (new)

Karla Never heard of Fissure, I'm going to check that out. Now I really need to read PC...oh my so many books so little time!!

They have all 3 movies contracted by Studios so I am sure they will all get made, especially with opening night ticket sales already being sold-out! Apparently it has an even bigger buzz then Twilight. I think that's due to the dual-gender appeal to the books. Most men would never admit they read the books or watched the Twi Films :)

message 25: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Karla wrote: "Never heard of Fissure, I'm going to check that out. Now I really need to read PC...oh my so many books so little time!!"

She wrote the Eden trilogy - and Fissure is a spin-off of a really adored supporting character "Patrick". Not to make your TBR list even longer, but again ALL great books :) definitely not enough time in the day!

message 26: by Michelle (last edited Mar 16, 2012 04:13PM) (new)

Michelle [Helen Geek] Kristen - completely understand how this happened. I've actually done the opposite and marked a book "read" and 5 Stars. I've had someone say - WOW you liked that - didn't seem like your style at all ;>) Not this book but another. So, SLIPPED the keys and have done it more than once. I have this book on my TBR and looked on both Amazon and B&N last evening and not available yet.

SLIPPED the keys actually sounds rather *hm -- clears throat* sump' sump' -- may end up in the urban dictionary some day!! You'd be famous -- and WE knew you when...

;) well our reviews of the books we have read are quite similar so hopefully we have the same tastes (I love the compare books feature on GR) and btw you do know that Cassandra Clare's books are ALL gonna be movies!! Or at least the movie rights have all been purchased :) YAHOO!!! I'd love to see Jace on the big screen!

message 30: by Karla (new)

Karla I heard rumors, but now I guess it's definite. I read the 3 books, and I have the fourth loaded to go. I also have the first of the series that really kicks it all off...make sense. Jace...OMG...I can't imagine who they would get to play him. That's a tough role to fill.

I love that feature too. It's funny how so many of us think alike! I just got a rec on a book called Finnikin of the Rock, which is supposed to be awesome. Have you ever read Graceling! Bitterblue is coming out in May. I've been waiting for that one for a long time. I have read so many books that I don't even have marked, I wouldn't even know where to start.

message 31: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kristen Cashore :) I read Fire & Graceling and I am STOKED for Bitterblue. The ARCS seemed to be well-received so I am excited for it to be released to the public. Keeping my fingers crossed that I love it has much as Po and Katsa.

I know Jace was even hard for me to envision in my mind! I felt like I never could really get him right. Oh so you have the first for Infernal Devices? I have read that one I think its Clockwork Angel, but Clockwork Prince the 2nd one has been out for awhile now and I still haven't picked it up :( got sucked into the world of e-books & Indie authors.

message 32: by Karla (new)

Karla Indie authors...I love them! Some really great books out there and what's nice is without the in-between person, you get so much more book. I can live with the typos, as long as the story is good. I love R L Mathewson and her Neighbors From Hell series. Kristen Ashley is another favorite...writes a yummy book and both these authors are really nice people too!

Oh my goodness, Melissa. How sweet are you! No problem. It sounds like you're a passionate and reasonable person, and just like you, I feel very passionate about the books I read and the author's I love. Just ask anyone who knows me, I can go a little nuts and crazy when I get obsessed over a book. Lol. Thank you so much for the sweet apology.

message 34: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I seriously just stumbled upon R L Mathewson!! I've only read Perfection & Playing for Keeps, but I totally agree with you. Same thing for me as far as the typos, I can totally deal with them and when the book is good I barely notice them.

Okay one last recommendation for you... Tina Reber - Love Unscripted. She is a HUGE R L Mathewson fan and I think you guys have similar tastes in books as well. Again a cool, down to earth Indie Author with an incredible ability to write :)

I will have to check out Kristen Ashley! Haven't heard of her, or maybe I have her on my TBR list and I didn't even realize it.

Keep the recommendations coming :)

Karla If you have an ereader and decide you want to try out a KA book, I have some coupon codes that she sent me to use over at Smashwords and they are good until April. She writes a long book, but the men are scrumptious and so alpha...RAWRRRRRR!!!

I'm friending you, this was meant to be!

Oh and I will check out Tina Reber. I have reviews out there for KA's books and RLM. I get carried away sometimes, they can be a little ridiculous!

Thanks!!

So glad this all worked out. *wipes brow - phew* Was glad we didn't end up in an internet brawl, where I was obviously going to get pummeled to bits. I love the support of friends though, so nice :)

Nikki This is a perfect example of how people should be interacting on this site.

Melissa, I totally get your passion and understand why with all the utter ridiculousness that goes on around here, you would defend your friend Tammara. Good on you for correcting your mistake like an adult and making friends with my girls Kristen and Karla. Cos otherwise, no offense, I totally would have jumped in and pulled you up on leaving that message for my girl.

I'm sorry, Kristen, I know you got this babe. But I love you and I needed to comment on this.

Searock And here's me apologizing for my part Melissa... if I can find the bottom (you guys blew this thread up in just a coupla hours).

You will notice my snark-remark was posted 3 and 4 minutes prior to yours, but it was posted afterward for some reason. My intention wasn't to blindside you after you explained yourself.

No hard feelings, I hope. You sound awesome actually.

I've been on the edge of writing a whole response to the bullying/attacking that has been going on (my inner activist dude got tweeked about it), but I realize it prolly won't help as much as ignoring it (which my peeps know is really hard for me, but they love my anyway).

My hubby said, if you feel you have to put the world back on its axis, go for it, but you're just wading into the crazy, honey.
*sigh* So true.
