Steve If you follow The Morning News Tournament of Books, where right around the time of March Madness they have a bracketed competition of 16 of the year's most buzz-worthy books vying for the top spot, you know that this one did very well. The judges agreed with you that the brothers were chronicled well.

You've got me convinced. It's on my list even though I never saw Deadwood.

message 2: by Jason (new)

Jason I did not know about the Tournament—cool, I'll have to check it out!

I'm not sure what you're into as far as TV series goes, but Deadwood is among the best shows I've ever seen.

Steve You're not the first person who's said that about Deadwood, Jason. Sounds like I ought to give it a try. We were late coming to The Wire, too, but then devoured it in about 3 weeks time.

message 4: by Michael (new)

Michael Herrman You know, that really is a pretty cool cover.

message 5: by Jason (new)

Jason "A man's got to have a code."

message 6: by Ken (new)

Ken Sorry to say, but I've never heard of Seth Bullock (or Deadwood, for that matter). I live in a cave, though, decreasing my chances considerably.

message 7: by Jason (new)

Jason Well get out of that cave, yo! :D

message 8: by Ken (new)

Ken It has its advantages (esp. re: world news).

message 9: by Brad (new)

Brad Shit! Seth Bullock. That crazy cunt has about the best temper I've ever seen. I suppose I'll have to read this now.

message 10: by Carey (new)

Carey Shea I thought this was the coolest book. I'd never read a story like that before (during the Gold Rush), etc. It was an exciting adventure and felt it through out the book. People must read this book.

message 11: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Pichurko I picked up this book originally for the cover alone. I was intrigued.

message 12: by Florence (Lefty) (new)

Florence (Lefty) MacIntosh Everything you said. Loved it.

message 13: by Jason (new)

Jason Aww! Thanks, Florence.

message 14: by CanadAnn (new)

CanadAnn I can TOTALLY see Quentin Terrantino making a movie out of this book! Your review is bang-on!

message 15: by Jason (new)

Jason Thanks!

message 16: by Jason (new)

Jason (But I think I said Joel and Ethan Coen, not Mr. Tarantino.)

message 17: by CanadAnn (new)

CanadAnn Perhaps...

message 18: by CanadAnn (new)

CanadAnn I was thinking more along the lines of Django than Deadwood...To each their own! Either way, fantastic book!

message 19: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Ailts Agreed that Eli reminds me of Tim Olyphant's job on Deadwood. Charlie actually kind of reminds me of a sleazy version of a Matt Damon character.
