Kresley Cole states on her website that they are all stand alones..however..I think you would understand Lothaire more if you read the previous book, Dreams of a Dark Warrior.

Vi Mandi, thanks! I never truly believe an author when they insist their books are standalone. I bought Warlord Wants Forever and am not truly convinced that I want to devote time to this series. I will download a sample of Dreams of Dark Warrior to see if I can understand it.

In Lothaire - the heroine is brand new to the series..so I think from just the romance stand point you would be fine. She does have a very large world though - and some things Lothaire does in the previous book would help you understand his motives in this one. Plus the previous book is good :)

Olivia I REALLY want to read this, but I've never read any of the previous books. I'm afraid in not reading the previous books, will get me lost in a world that will be lost on me. Do you like any of the previous books?

Believe me, each book is a great story, but if ever there were a series that is 14 books in and you want to start at the beginning and work your way through, this is the one. Not because you won't understand, but because they're that GOOD. I picked up about five books in and enjoyed catching up (It didn't take long. Her books are page turners), but then I had to wait for the next one. The hardest thing about reading this series is waiting for the next one.

Thanks, Cherie. I just picked up A Hunger Like No Other yesterday! I'll be reading this soon.
