Megan Although I only gave it two stars as well, I think this would be a great book to discuss in a book group! Interested to read your thoughts.

message 2: by Jill (new)

Jill I'm not going to read the review due to the spoilers, but CRAP! I just bought this on Audible.com. And I always trust your reviews...darnit!

message 3: by Laura (new)

Laura did you mean Pakistani or Bangladeshi?

message 4: by Nathan (new)

Nathan James Pardon me. Asma was Bangladeshi. Thank you, Laura!

message 5: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I agree--interesting premise, yet spooled out more like a news ticker than a novel. Waldman is clearly a talented journalist, but fiction written in the style of nonfiction (as opposed to the reverse) is not in high demand.

message 6: by Johnisha (new)

Johnisha your review hits the nail on the head. couldn't agree more.

message 7: by Nathan (new)

Nathan James Thanks Jennifer (belatedly) and Johnisha.

message 8: by Nan (new)

Nan Nate, I was odd one out in my book club too. I heard her speak about the book which made me wish I could have liked it.

message 9: by Nathan (new)

Nathan James Were you as surprised as I was when the group started raving, Nan? I was blindsided by everyone else's love of the book. I do very much look forward to her second book. She definitely has the ideas down!
