Darlene Wonderful review, Brian! I think maybe I will suggest this to my 17 year old daughter. And you know, no matter how far removed from high school you get, I don't think you EVER forget some of those feelings and embarrassing moments! And I had to laugh when you said the character, Lee was 'reduced to a puddle at the slightest provocation'! I'll let you in on something.... having been a teenaged girl many, many years ago and being the mother of one now... this is VERY typical behavior! I would say that most teenaged girls are prone to being 'drama queens'... everything is of the utmost importance and everything is the end of the world as we know it! I can see where you would find it just a bit annoying though.

Thanks for the great review. I'll definitely recommend it to my daughter... and perhaps when she is finished with it, maybe I'll read it too and take a little trip down that high school memory lane!

Brian I'm glad you enjoyed the review Darlene! I think the book would be perfect for a 17 year old girl, as I'm sure she'd be able to feel a lot of empathy for Lee and the difficulties she experiences. There are also a few ethical quandaries in the novel that might present some interesting fodder for conversation.

Just one note of caution...towards the end of the novel, there are some highly sexualized scenes that made me a little uneasy, and though I don't think they'd particularly present much of an issue for a 17 year old, I just wanted to make sure you were aware.

Darlene Thanks Brian! That's good to know. I have to admit.. I don't feel particularly comfortable discussing those kinds of scenes either. But I definitely like the ethical quandaries.... that is the perfect way to talk about things that maybe you wouldn't necessarily have reason to talk about. I'm definitely going to get this book for her! I'll let you know what she thinks when she reads it!
