Karisa I agree completely this book was wonderful. This was one of the few books that I couldn't put down, you were left with such suspense that left the reader not only wanting but needing to read more. I also really loved how Jacob learned so much about himself and his past. He really learned what his grandfather had to deal with all his life. Even though Jacob's grandfather past away I think him coming to the island and understand his grandfather's life really completed their relationship. They could finally understand each other and I think Jacob's grandfather would be extremely proud of what Jacob has accomplished. I'm not one who loves to read books, but this book I truly loved this book. The author did a great job of writing this book and giving the details of the characters and island. The pictures also were extremely helpful in truly understanding this book. I would recommend for everyone to read this book.

Olga I agree. Magical and charming! So much better than the Xmen that people who hate it seem to compare it with.

Hannah Wilborn I'll admit, the writing style, including the pictures, was a unique idea and I liked it. But it's the actual plot that made me torn between whether or not I like this book. The story was kind of boring and predictable, but it was interesting at times. Like when the wight turned out to be Jacob's bus driver and his psychiatrist. It just didn't hold my attention for very long. Don't get me wrong, I liked the writing style and I, I just don't like the plot line itself. All in all though, it was a horrible book.

Shanna Loved this book so much I read it multiple times! I just re-read it so that I can read the third one (after I re-read Hollow City). I thought it a bit slow to start, but once it got going, I really liked it. I didn't understand why people were comparing it to X-men. It's not anything like that except that they have powers. Also, they are more trapped than the X-Men because they have grown older in their minds (at least some have) and their hearts, but they are still children. They are trapped. I liked the pictures and how they made everything come together. I also liked Jacob's character. I don't think he was "spoiled" as others have said. I think he didn't want his life to be a boring joke that it was and he wanted something more. He got that and more! Loved it!
