Arlene Eliza wrote: "Just to keep a good image don't read the third book"

Oh I hear ya Eliza... I stopped at this one. I heard what happens, and I'm out... No need to go further and this book. I met the author after I read this book and well... let's just say this book was great, but Roth and I must part ways here. :/

message 37: by ~Tina~ (new)

~Tina~ ...I agree, third book...not good my friend.

I asked for a spoiler and I still can't believe it. I'm not going to invest in book 2 and 3 if that's what happens. I gave my first two books away to make it official. LOL

I felt like the entire third book just felt different and empty, not just "that moment." I was disappointed with the entire thing, but I do love the first one.

I loved the first one too Andrea and I just don't want to taint my experience with continuing on. I feel lately that books that are shoved into series are more often than not set up to fail. Very rarely do they succeed all the way through. With the exception of Legend and Hunger Games, there's just too much room to fail.

Sorry you didn't care for the last book. :( I've decided to not even go there.

message 41: by Eliza (new)

Eliza If you want to keep it a good image still don't see the movie it was horrible!

message 42: by Maia (new)

Maia R U going to read book 2?

message 43: by Arlene (new)

Arlene Eliza wrote: "If you want to keep it a good image still don't see the movie it was horrible!"

Too funny Eliza. I broke down and watched the movie this weekend and I actually liked it. I'm slightly curious about reading book 2 because my friend insists it was really good, but I will force myself to stop there. :)

Arlene Maia wrote: "R U going to read book 2?"

I just might... not sure yet. :)

message 45: by Eliza (new)

Eliza I finished the whole series but then I saw the movie and it kinda was like seriously are you trying to ruin the image of this book.

message 47: by Lillie (new)

Lillie Tyler Arlene, your review caught my eye out of the thousands, because our opinions are very similar. I read Divergent over the summer and I couldn’t get enough of it. I completely agree that this book is comparable to The Hunger Games. Just like you, I loved that the novel kept the readers on the edge of their seat. The character Tris also had a big impact on the story. As her courage evolves, the story unfolds. You’re completely right! The author gives hint of her dangerous side in the beginning, such as, her being the first one to jump off the bridge, or taking the knife for her friend. We have the same perspective of this amazing novel. I love that the author brought women pride and strength as a theme. I also can’t wait to read the next novel.

message 48: by Anna (new)

Anna Larson Dear Arlene,
I agree with you so much about Divergent! I also found it very exciting to see how Tris’s character evolved throughout the story. Her character is so tough and powerful; exactly what a female heroine should be. I’m 100% with you on Four. I thought he was an intimidating, hard person. But he really began to grow on me too and now he’s my favorite character! Thank you for reviewing.
