Phoebe Ha, hilarious.

However, the Japanese anime was called Kimba: The White Lion. And was about a white lion (creative!). ;)

message 2: by Kira (new)

Kira Phoebe, I adore you. You are, like, the coolest person ever for knowing that.

Also, you are a fabulous author. Seas Run Dry is absolutely gorgeous.

message 3: by Phoebe (new)

Phoebe Gaw, this is me, blushing. Glad you're enjoying it!

message 4: by Cory (new)

Cory I can agree with nothing you said, but your review is still hilarious.

Have you seen the Italian rendition of Simba? It's awful. They play it all the time on one of the only kids channels they have in the middle east.

message 5: by Kira (new)

Kira Cory, that is exactly why I love you. You do not agree with a single one of my opinions, but you don't WAX ANGRY and go all troll like some of the idiots I encounter.

Here's a blueberry fritter for you.

And no, but DAMN, I'm gonna check it out! I love terrible renditions of old classics. They only solidify why I loved the originals in the first place.

message 6: by Anila (new)

Anila Joey Tribbiani?
EPIC WIN.
Magnus is my favorite MI character as well- and erm, you may be disappointed by lack of boy love in the next book. (Dun worry, City of Glass makes up for it.)
Oh, and speaking of Magnus, have some fanart.

message 7: by Kira (new)

Kira Oh, man! Favourited so hard my finger is bruised. I LOVE IT.

I WILL BE DISAPPOINTED? NAAO! Please tell me there is some boy love? Right?

Oh, how I long for the days of shounen-ai. Y'know, I'm thinking of just cutting to the chase and reviewing Uraboku. I bash it in, like, ALL of my reviews.

message 8: by Anila (new)

Anila Not as much as one might wish... I don't recall because it's been a year or two, but I don't think I would have been as gratified with a certain scene in City of Glass if there had been enough Alec/Magnus in CoAshes. Then again it was a most excellent scene, so my memory may be failing me.

I think you should; I'd be interested to read that review.

Synesthesia (SPIDERS!) Someday I shall get around to writing a book that will be full of boy and girl love for everyone.

message 10: by Kira (new)

Kira Oh, believe me, Synesthesia, I'm on it. Boy love + machine guns + manly army men = HOT DAMN!

Oh, how I love dystopian.

Cillian...yeah, not my finest hour. But technically, it's Rem you should be pissed at. It was like, totally her fault. Ahem. Yeah.

And, er...just to, um, clarify...I'm not insane. Like, really not. No, I was just roaring drunk when I did the Kira Laugh. That was why I did that. Yeah.

Not my craziness.

I swear.

message 11: by Kira (new)

Kira OF COURSE. And that damn Misa...all she does is get in my way. Whatta nice rack, though, amirite?

YES. I am God. Therefore I am perfect. C'est la vie!

message 12: by Kira (new)

Kira Pal, God smiles on you.

*clicks pen*

message 13: by Kira (new)

Kira Well, I don't know. Sometimes he uses blood. Dang, isn't he resourceful? Whatta man.

message 14: by Kira (new)

Kira True. Though it comes in fits and starts. Really, he's a psychotic sociopath. With a serious addiction.

But I think that's kind of what the death note is supposed to symbolize. Light's life is over as soon as he picks up the death note.

message 15: by Kira (new)

Kira Oh, yeah. And it kind of sums up Ryuk, too. I mean, for most of the series he appears indifferent, just comic relief, but when you look closer and really take the time to hone in on exactly what role he plays, you can see that he corrupts Light just as much as the death note does. He is the catalyst for most of Light's worst decisions and even though he pretends to be an ally of Light, in the end he decides to end it all simply because he got bored.

Which is to say: Technically, Ryuk was the one who trumped Kira, not L, Near or Mello. And he basically did it without even trying.

message 16: by Suzisu (new)

Suzisu FYI Yeah, she looks like a Hobbit, but not sure about her feet, couldn't see them.

message 17: by Suzisu (new)

Suzisu Talented Hobbit, though.

message 18: by Suzisu (last edited Mar 31, 2011 05:33AM) (new)

Suzisu Hi Pal and Yep, but it was a stab at humour, so maybe I should have put a few exclamation marks in there for clarity!!!!!

message 19: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Love the review. Especially the Platoon part.

message 20: by Rose (new)

Rose About the Mary-Sue-Clary part, i agree with you, but when you're done with this series, you should read the other one Cassandra Clare wrote. Her maincharacter, Tessa, is anything but a Mary Sue.

message 21: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Field One of the things I liked about this was all the glamour, it made me think of Kim Kardashian...
and I posted as much in my blog, as well as hwo downworlders might be a bit like chimpanzees

message 22: by John (new)

John Egbert I may not agree with all of your points, but as usual, your review is awesome, anyway.

message 23: by Kira (new)

Kira Thanks, dearest Mello. :)

message 24: by Talula (new)

Talula wow, i am totally in love with this book aswell.

message 25: by Anna (new)

Anna Okay, so some dude with an attitude problem and a serious Jilted Husband Complex tells you "I'm yo DADDY!"

DYINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

And yes yes yes Chairman Meow shall be the name of my next cat as well they can be twins YES.

Also, I truly thought I was the only one who loved Luke. I ADORE Luke. Luke is fabulous. I could read just about Luke for days on end. Luke is my HOMEWOLF. I love him. LOVE.

PS - Magnus/Alec = OTP OF ALL OTP'S.

I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this review makeover, but meh snippets!
*Cries*"

There, there, Cillian dearest! I have the old version on file, but this review...

Dang, it needed a pep-talk.

message 27: by Kira (new)

Kira Cillian wrote: "How many times am I going to unlike your review to like it again, eh?
You drivin' me nuts, princess..."

I suspect at least once more, my love.

And don't even get me started again on Alex. Wild Child was enough for me. After that, I was so done. Stick a fork in me.

message 28: by sanny (new)

sanny This has got to be the most on-the-spot review of this book I've read.

message 29: by Lisa (Fic Talk) (new)

Lisa (Fic Talk) As always, your reviews slay me, Kira.

And how badly did I want an Alec and Jace kiss?!

Verreh.

message 30: by Kira (new)

Kira Lisa wrote: "As always, your reviews slay me, Kira.

Lisa, there's a deleted scene on Cassie's TMI website where Alec and Jace kiss. S'not the same as if it were in the book (t'would have been AWESOME) but it's a consolation. You should check it out.

message 31: by Lisa (Fic Talk) (new)

Lisa (Fic Talk) oh really??

I need more than a consolation kiss but I'll still take it. It would have been awesome if it did happen in the book!

Thanks for the info, Kira.

message 32: by Choco (new)

Choco WHAT? Jace and Alec actually do kiss? Are you sure you're not talking about Alec and Magnus?

(Because what about the whole parabatai law?)

Kind of confused here...

message 33: by Kira (new)

Kira Palice wrote: "WHAT? Jace and Alec actually do kiss? Are you sure you're not talking about Alec and Magnus?

No, it's Jace and Alec. It's a deleted scene, where Jace kisses Alec just to see what it would be like. Alec recoils and says it's like kissing his brother. It's really just to show that Alec and Magnus are meant to be, and that Alec isn't settling because he can't have Jace. They're really not compatible after all.

message 34: by Choco (new)

Choco Aah, okay. Didn't know that. Thanks! :)

message 35: by Irene (new)

Irene Unfortunately, Lily Collins is also pretty bad, judging from MIRROR MIRROR.

message 36: by Kira (new)

Kira Irene wrote: "Unfortunately, Lily Collins is also pretty bad, judging from MIRROR MIRROR."

Oh, no! Really? I didn't see Mirror, Mirror, because it looked shitty, and I was more psyched to see Snow White and the Huntsman (which I did, and it was pretty decent).

Is she KStew bad? Kirsten Dunst bad?

Synesthesia (SPIDERS!) So Snow White and the Huntsman did not suck? I want to see it because PEOPLE TURN INTO BIRDS IN IT!

message 38: by Kira (new)

Kira Synesthesia wrote: "So Snow White and the Huntsman did not suck? I want to see it because PEOPLE TURN INTO BIRDS IN IT!"

Yeah, it was pretty darn cool. And I LOVED the ending. If you watch it, you'll know why I'm in LOVE with the ending.

message 39: by Lisa (Fic Talk) (new)

Lisa (Fic Talk) I'd only watch SWATH for Chris Hemsworth and Charlize.
And the creepy look of it.

Kstew is such a bad actress. Ugh.

message 40: by Kira (new)

Kira Lisa wrote: "I'd only watch SWATH for Chris Hemsworth and Charlize.

She's actually bearable in SWATH. It's not another T-word fiasco. She has about five stock expressions now, rather than her famous "lolwut" Bella grimace.

But true - Charlize is amazing. I love her. And Hemsworth is lovely. Just lovely.

message 41: by Irene (new)

Irene Mmm... I wouldn't say KStew bad because she actually SMILES... I guess she's the opposite of KStew, in that I don't buy her "serious" act: she's too smiley and naive to give any depth to her character.
Then again, MIRROR MIRROR was really disappointing in general, so the director's instructions may share the blame. TMI might work better. Although, Clary spends most of her time thinking about Jace's hotness, so the lost, faraway smile might still work as Allen's general expression...

I have been told she's bearable in SWATH by another friend. Hmm...

message 43: by Nobonita (new)

Nobonita You're so right. To be honest,Alex Pettyfer is way below my hottie radar.I was heartbroken when he got the cast for John Smith in I Am Number Four. :(

message 44: by Irene (new)

Irene I just realized my post from a couple of weeks ago never posted. -.-"

I wouldn't say Lily Collins is KStew bad (who is, after all??!!). In fact, she's quite the opposite as KStew: where KStew is incapable of expressing any emotion that's not complete boredom or constipation, Lily Collins is naïveté personified... All smiley and doe-eyed and oblivious.
MIRROR MIRROR is the only movie with her I've seen, though, so it might also be the director's fault that she came across that way... Maybe that's the impression of Show White he wanted her to give. Still, I think Collins has a problem with hiding her smile, even when she's supposed to be serious.

That said, she might still work as Clary, since she spends most of the book drooling over Jace and every once in a while remembering that she's supposed to be worried about her mother or Simon.

Fam Min Wouldn`t the actors feel wierd when the bro/sis part comes on? Like that is so creepy... 0_o

OH! I loved your review, that was great and you seriously made me laugh my pants wet. Really like your review, like I had to say it twice to make it true! ;)

p.s.: Hey that ryhmes!

Yah! The ending killed me, totally was not expecting that! AT ALL. NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS. Am I making myself clear yet? :/

You're a poet, and you don't know it!

Oh, God...sorry for that lame-ass joke. But I'm super glad you liked my review. Stay cool.

message 48: by Neelia (new)

Neelia S you got to read it again!!! it is going to become a movie next year!!!

message 49: by Nadine (new)

Nadine I got really excited when i saw at imbd that there is an upcoming movie... But actually i am not quite sure if the story is really one which should be cut to a movie.
Yeah, I loved the book but I never saw a movie in it like in others (e.g. The Hunger Games - After the first chapters I already told my friend that this should become a movie). So I guess I'll run to the cinema anyway :-D but I really hope they won't crash this story... And I've never thought about an actor who's gonna play Jace... But def. NOT alex p. ;-)

Zero vi Britannia As much as I dislike this book, I respect your opinions and agree that Magnus and Alec are awesome.
*swoon*
