CLM I hesitated too - in part because I felt Percy is lucky rather than heroic - but I think ultimately gave the 5 for creativity, memorable characters, and because I love mythology.

This is one of the first times my niece loved a book before I did!

Lisa Vegan I love mythology too and it does have so much creativity, humor, interesting characters. I think I'll stick with the 5 stars. it is unique.

I'm very glad to hear your niece liked it as I wasn't sure if this would be considered a "boy book" despite Annabeth/the 2 boys & 1 girl that the Harry Potter series has.

Have you read any of the other books in the series?

Luann This series is very popular in my library. So far I've just read this first one. I plan to read the others, but they are almost always checked out!

Lisa Vegan Yes, I can see why they'd be popular.

Oh, and I just wanted to say that I do see Percy as a hero, if only because he was so brave and didn't try to avoid his quest, and also the way he handled situations with his friends.

Lisa Vegan I read it for the Young Adults book club here at Goodreads:

I've read many good books because of this club.
