about
Meriadoc Brandybuck, usually known as Merry, is the second cousin of Frodo Baggins and is a member of the Fellowship of the Ring. He shares a close friendship with Peregrine Took (Pippin).

Merry accompanies Frodo on his journey from the Shire to Rivendell, where he is made a member of the Fellowship. After the breaking of the Fellowship, he and Pippin are kidnapped by Saruman's Uruk-hai, but escape into Fangorn Forest. There, he meets Treebeard and helps lead the march of the Ents on Isengard.

Later, Merry is reunited with the rest of the Fellowship. He swears fealty to Theoden, king of Rohan, and participates in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. He and Eowyn kill the Witch King of Angmar.

After the War of the Ring, Merry becomes Master of Buckland and Counsellor of the North-Kingdom.
