Achilles

Achilles
Achilles is a mythological hero featured in Homer's Iliad, where he is depicted as the most feared warrior of his age, a son of the nymph Thetis.

Later authors rewrite his story to make him invulnerable, having been dipped in the river Styx by his mother. The only part of his body which does not receive this treatment are his ankles, which his mother held while immersing him. He then dies after an arrow strikes his ankle, and from this weakness comes the phrase 'Achilles' Heel'.
