I’m sticking with my original 4.5 but giving the 5th star because I loved the reread and I think knowing how much world building got done in the thick of all the action I’m giving it a bump.

Since I really couldn't find anything but good things about each book in Cannon's Peachville High Demons series, I simple read each of the four installments currently available, and decided that I would simply provide my review and opinion of the series as a whole. I did; however, provide a review of the first book, Beautiful Demons already.

Each book follows the life of Harper Madison, a orphan who has been in numerous foster homes until she finally ends up at Shadowford Home for girls. This is her last chance. If she messes up there she will be placed in juvenile hall. But trouble seems to follow Harper like a black cloud. Suddenly a local cheerleader is found dead, seemingly burned from the inside out. Everything begins to change for Harper after that. Love, and popularity begin to fill her life as she joins the cheerleading squad and begins dating the star quaterback, but she finds she is drawn to Jackson, the boy with the amazing green eyes.

In the second book; Inner Demons, Harper finds that she is a witch, and not just any witch. Harper is the Prima Futura of the Order of the Shadows coven. But somehow she cannot seem to remember her life before being on the cheer squad, and no matter how much she asks about it, she finds no answers. The only person who seems to know the truth is Jackson and once he reveals it to her, everything changes. Once Harper finds out the the coven forces Demons from the shadow world to join with them, Demons like Jackson, Harper realizes she has to do something to stop it, but how?

In book three; Bitter Demons, Harper is still in the hospital after saving Jackson from the Others. Once released, they spend as much time together as they can until another coven arrives. One of the other covens witches, Zara, begins training Harper which dampens on the time she can be with him, but she learns so much about herself and her powers. Using her powers, she and another witch switch places and live the life of the other for just a few hours until trouble pops up again.

In book four Harper learns all the dirty secrets of the Order. She learns the truth about how and who killed her mother after finding her mothers journal. She also learns how corrupt the High Council actually is and what they are capable of doing to those who choose to stand up to them. Even with that knowledge she still fights for what's right, even though it may cost her her life. But she won't show fear. Her one saving grace is that the man she loves will be safe. Jackson will continue the fight against the Order with his friends.

Each book in this series was full of surprises. Twists, turns, suspense, you name it. I couldn't put them down, I couldn't get enough! Each character grows as each book progresses. And though there are continued attacks on Harper, each one is completely different and exciting. The way that Cannon brings in the background of each main character makes it all the more interesting to read. You never know the whole truth until Cannon wants you to.

Inner Demons is the second book in the Peachville High Demons series and it does not let the fans of the first book down. While the first book was more about Harper discovering the town and the local’s weird obsession with sports and cheerleading, the second book begins giving answers to the much anticipated questions.

Parts of this story seemed a little slower to me because the author was taking the time to build the characters we did not see much in the first book but it did not take away from the suspense. That is one of the things I love about these books. They are very suspenseful and easy to fly through because you are dying to see what Harper is going to learn next. I have to say, this series keeps me interested and is a nice surprise for me to have stumbled across.

The story was as good as the first one. Maybe even a little better. It is told through Harper’s point of view so we see everything she does. Although, as I said, parts seemed a little slower, I did enjoy meeting the new characters. I have been dying to see more of Jackson though and this story had him in it mostly in the second half. We also get some answers about Jackson and little of his back story which was a nice treat.

I have to say, these stories have some pretty dark paranormal elements in them for young adult. If you think these stories contain the typical high school drama based on the description talking about cheerleaders, then you are wrong and missing out. Sure on the surface they are teenagers but they are going through so much more behind the curtain. Sarra Cannon has created a nicely made dark world full of magic and conspiracy. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Recommend for fans of Young Adult and Magic

The second installment in the series, is better than the first in many ways. I was so happy to see Harper get all the love and affection from the fellow cheerleaders and the elders in town. Harper, Brooke, Allison an Lark become very close. And ultimately she is now included in all their sleepovers, parties and hangouts. Initially I was a bit sceptic as to why the behaviour of the so called popular gang changed abruptly towards Harper. But towards the end, it only seems right. There was a point of time when I wanted to shake Harper so violently, hoping she would snap back to reality. The magic was getting to her head. I wish there was more of Jackson in this book but well… it wouldn’t have fit right with the story… so, nevermind. The author’ has written the book in such simple language that it goes to prove, you don’t need plenty of big words to have a huge captive audience (just a good enough storyline). Among the 3 cheerleaders, I immediately grew fond of Lark. She seemed like the perfect, understanding friend that Harper needs. What I like even more about these books is that mostly all chapters end with a suspense. So there is absolutely no chance that you can put down the book with any excuse. (less)

It seems like I am devouring this series. I finished the second book in about a day and a half, same as the first! These books just keep surprising me. This is better than the first book, I must say. I am still not that hooked into this but this one definitely has more into it. Inner Demons picks up right where Beautiful Demons left off, and this new journey isn't any less exciting. I love that Harper is growing and discovering things on her own. Sarra has written a teenager who actually thinks, acts, and reacts like a teenager. And she's made her likeable.

This one was just as good as the first one. It developed a lot of the characters a bit more, and we really get to see Harper grow. You learn more about the town she is from, but there are still many questions about her situation. Another interesting read. I liked learning more about the Order, don't trust them as far as I can throw them, but find it intriguing. I really like Lark, and of course any interaction with Jackson is fantastic. I found it interesting how secretive the Order is being, I'm surprised they're not trusting Harper with more information. Oh, can I say cliffhanger?! This second book in the Peachville Demons Series was even better than the first and that's saying something. We start to get some answers, great anticipation plot and love wise, and plenty more to learn. I can't wait to find out where this series is going! I did NOT see a particular twist coming, and I really like the authors take on witches and their relationship to demons. Interesting and different. I recommend this series to fans of paranormal and some YA romance.

I am absolutely loving this series. Once I started, I'd read for hours and then finished it very quickly. The character is a strong, young woman in a difficult situation. She recognizes she is in trouble - in a demon sort of way and takes her time finding the solution. In the meantime, all sorts of other things are happening around her. Fun, interesting and I definitely invested myself in the main character. Moving on the the third book in the series now.

This was book 2 and a much faster read than the first one. I'm really liking this series a lot. I got the 1st 2 books for .99 each and the third for 2.99 for my Kindle. More than worth it.

Sarra Cannon has created a YA paranormal series that's different from others out there. It's a fresh idea, at least from what I've read. I'm so glad they don't involve vampires or I would have had to stop reading them. I'm totally burned out on vampires.

Not so happy that Harper doesn't remember anything from book one. What was the point of even writing the first book is there's no progression?

Can't stand the guy she's with and I'm glad that she does finally figure out that something weird is going on and takes care of her problems, well, at least some of them.

Still looking for that romance between my favorite guy and Harper... will it happen in book three???

"Inner Demons" by Sarra Cannon was a great book. It was filled with mystery, suspense, and betrayal. Harper has just joined the squad at her new school, but this squad is different. She was chosen for this squad so she could finally learn how to learn her powers and become know into the magical world. I would recommend this book, but only if you actually like fantasy and magic. It's exciting and keeps you n your toes. I absolutely love it!
