Merede is always trying to put others before herself. In doing so her father left her without a dowery. That in turn left her stepbrother Algernon in charge of the family money. And left Merede a slave to her stepmother. But a chance meeting with Chase the Earl of Allyndale helped her see that the world was passing her by. Merede in associating with Chase had to lie to him about his sister and her stepbrother going together. They want to get married but Chase is the one stopping them. And in kee...more

"The Irresistible Earl" by Regina Scott is a wonderful regency romance set in 1811 England. This story had so much more to it than just simply boy meets girl though there was that. There was a bit of a story line that was clouded pretty well until things were cleared up quite nicely that lead to something really different. I must admit that I enjoyed this story just as much the second time around as I did the first time. I didn't write a review then so here is my thoughts even with a second go a...more

The Irresistible Earl is the fourth book I've read by Regina Scott and I really enjoyed it! I really liked the characters and loved seeing them grow. One character in particular surprised me as I had misjudged him and what kind of man he was - I was pleased to find out I was wrong and he was actually a great guy. :)

A little bit of The Irresistible Earl reminded me of Cinderella - Meredee's father had remarried giving her a stepmother and...more

This was a sweet story about a brother and sister, and the brother trying to take care of the sister and the sister trying to grow up yet still let her brother feel like he was in charge :) Of course there is romance involved, with a great title like that how can there not be? The author does a good job of making her characters fallible, yet likable. You root for them and cheer when things go their way, but I felt she kept the characters consistent through the book and didn't have them do things...more

Mercedee Price thinks she's doing a good deed by rescuing a young lady from drowning in Scarborough Bay, but soon wishes she hadn't been the one to help. First, the young lady refers to Mercedee as her "savior," the whole town takes up the nickname and Mercedee is uncomfortable with the title. Next, Lady Phoebe introduces Mercedee to her brother, the formidable and handsome Chase Dearborn, the Earl of Allyndale. The Earl promised to challenge Mercedee's foppish stepbrother Algernon to a duel whe...more

I enjoyed this book. It was fun, clean and romantic. Good for my teen daughter. Not my favorite, but worth the read. I enjoyed it at times, but I felt like near the middle of the book, the plot spun out of bobtail and things were brought to an end in a very predictable way. I also expected more of the characters, development wise.
I also felt like there wasn't a lot of love; there was obsession and affection between the two couples, but not love, and that disappointed me.
There wasn't a lot of depth in the role of God either, what there was was fairly duh and not a lot of deep insight.
I did enjoy the sibling rel...more

I really liked this book. The hero and heroine are likable with a few flaws to make them believable in their struggles. Good supporting cast of characters. Takes place in Scarborough in Northern England in the 1800s - a period of time that I really enjoy. I wish that Love Inspired Historical books had more books that take place during this time period. Good job Regina! I look forward to your next book in the Fall.

Sounded really great, but ended up to be a book that was disappointing. xx

I liked it. I thought the story was good and the characters were likable enough. The romance didn't give me butterflies, but was still sweet.

Content: Clean, mild religious themes.

Regina Scott started writing novels in the third grade. Thankfully for literature as we know it, she didn't actually sell her first novel until she had learned a bit more about writing such as vocabulary, sentence structure, and plot. After numerous short stories and articles in magazines and trade journals, she got serious about her novel writing. The Unflappable Miss Fairchild was her first nove...more
