Willy is one of 300, 000,000 ("300 million") sperm, though he is not very good at math. He works very hard to be the best swimmer, even better than Butch, his chief rival. The big day is coming, so to prepare, his coach gives him two maps: one to get out of a man's body, and the other to find his way through the wife's body. Will he find the prize? Great for elementary kids asking about where babies come from. Great for high schoolers to use as en example to create their own expl More...

4-8 Informational book

Where Willy Went... is a banned book. Once I read it, the reasons are pretty obvious.

This story is about a sperm named Willy. It is a humorous and simplified version of 'where babies come from'. The story begins by focusing on Willie, the sperm, and moves on to how Willie lived inside Mr. Browne but moved into Mrs. Browne. Willie swims in a race to get out of Mr. Browne and enters into an egg where he lives and grows and grows until he is bigger More...

Willy the sperm can swim better than any of the other 300,000,000 sperm in Mr. Browne's body. But he isn't very good at math. However, that doesn't matter on the day of the Great Race. On that day, Willy learns that it only matters who reaches the first prize egg first. And Willy does.

A hilarious picture-book for little ones on the reproductive process.

This is a "where babies come from" book that's more silly than informational. Willy is a single sperm that's bad at math, but good at swimming. When he beats the other sperm to the egg he turns into a little girl who is also bad at math but good at swimming. A little dumb, but fun.

P.S. I found Where Willy Went on a banned books display. IMHO, it doesn't contain anything that would upset the average kindergartener. You can make out the outline of a penis a couple times and t More...

Willy, along with his rival Butch and about 300 million other sperm in Mr. Browne are preparing for the big race to the prize (egg) in Mrs. Browne. Willy is an excellent swimmer and when the race arrives, he is the first to burrow into the soft egg. The egg grows and so does Mrs. Browne's belly until a baby girl, Edna, is born - who happens to be a good swimmer too. Nice, light introduction to the reproductive cycle for children, and Willy is darn cute. If you need a book with more details a More...

Graphic Illustrations! But if you are looking to explain where babies come from while sticking to the facts (for the most part), this is a good title...although my girls were very giddy about pointing out the penis!!!

This story is an inspiring tale. About a sperm who struggles with the daily problems of life.
A classic that should be cherished for generations to come.

This book is about a sperm named Willy that tells you about how babies are born. It is very graphic.

This book would be good for science if you were talking about the reproductive system.

Banned or challenged book.

I believe that this book was banned or challenged becuase it is very descriptive about how babies are born. Several parents would not want their studetns finding this information out by reading a book all b

This book is a banned book. It is about where babies come from, providing graphic pictures and information. Mr. Browne transfers over the sperm (Willie) to Mrs Browne. Wilie had to swim very fast to be the winner, and he turns into an egg where he lives and grows until it is time to come out.

It is a good informational book, however to read at school might be a little to graphic for the students.

A great introduction to reproduction. This cute picturebook tells the story of Willy, a sperm who loves to swim. When the time comes to race his rival to the egg, he's ready.

It's very, very cute, and pretty sensitive. The actual consumation of man and woman is treated respectfully, and in terms that a child can understand.

A good springboard for conversation about where babies come from.

What WERE those people at Alfred A. Knopf thinking? Willy is a sperm who wears swim goggles to prepare for the BIG MOMENT. Need I say more?
