Kill You Last (Thrillogy #3)
"They always agreed to meet me. Of course, I told them I was bringing them money. I said it was cash and I didn't want to send it through the mail. They might have hesitated at first about meeting me, but I never had to work very hard to convince them. Why?. . . It was the only way they could prolong their pathetic dreams of someday becoming rich, famous models."

Ever since I was younger, I have always been a Todd Strasser fan and when I discovered the first book in the Thrillogy I just knew I had to read the rest as I was hooked. One of my favourite genres is Mystery novels and what I loved about Todd Strasser's Kill You Last was that he used modern technology , what once would have been anonymous messages sent by Post are now email messages and text messages received on the main character Shelby's Blackberry and her friend Roman , a huge crime fiction...more
Kill You Last, another Edgar Award nominee, has an unusual plot element, at least one I don't recall seeing before. Shelby's parents have a strained marriage and she's not certain exactly why. Her mother is remote and seldom talks to her in any meaningful way. Shelby knows some of what affects her mom stems from the trauma experienced when mom took her infant brother out in winter weather and he got sick and died, but she's sure something else is going on. Her dad, a professional photographer, i...more
There are thrills aplenty as well as twists, turns, and bumps in the road--even a bump in the night or two--as teen Shelby tries to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of three girls. It seems odd that all three girls visited her father's photo studio for model shots before disappearing, but Shelby is sure her father can't be involved. And yet...she is bothered by his penchant for looking at her friends in unfatherly-like ways. As she forms a shaky alliance with a university reporter lo...more
The cover:
I love it and it totally fits the subject of this book. Period.
The storyline:
How do I even start this?!
After finishing Blood on My Hands, I immediately started reading this one. I knew I’d love it because I became familiar with the writing style and because I was anticipating the thriller in it :).
The writing style was somehow different which got this book another star (or flower in my case.). The pacing of the story was just right. There were some times when I’d be like “Seriously, no...more

Kill You Last by Todd Strasser
This is a great YA mystery. Shelby's father is a photographer. Three girls who he did business with have been reported as missing and Shelby's father is a person of interest. Shelby begins her own investigation to try to clear her father's name. She gets some help from her best friend Roman and a reporter, Whit, whom she is beginning to trust. Will Shelby find out who the killer is?

Kill You Last by: Todd Strasser, in all of his "thirll"-ogy exaggerates the feeling of mystery as you read to figure out who is the actual suspect. In this thriller, it is a murderer. Protagonist, Shelby, is the "monkey" in the situation trying to find out who is the reason for the 3 missing teenagers. The top suspect - Shelby's dad. He is the most involved in this crime situation because he's a photographer for all 3 teenagers.
What I liked most about this book is how it kept me interested all t

Debbi-Lynn Bateson I am not the target audience for this book, but I thought it was a suitable YA read, if somewhat implausible in that I found the clues the university reporter was able to turn up when the detectives and other, more experienced journalists couldn't a bit hard to believe. I thought telling the story from the perspective of a child who's parent is suspected of serious crimes was an interesting take. Overall, an easy read, but I'm not certain I will actively pursue this author, al...more
The book "Kill You Last" is about a teenager named Shelby. Her father was a fashion photographer and was investigated by detectives. Shelby must cope with the detectives, reporters and cameras at her house when she discovers a threatening text-message sent by a mysterious text-er. Determined, Shelby realizes that her father is in a scandal with his clients after the abduction of one of his models. Now, she realizes that her life is at stake and she would do whatever it takes to find out who the...more

The book Kill You Last by Todd Strasser was a very thrilling book and one of the best I’ve ever read. I am not a big mystery fan but this book was definitely an exception. I think the best parts in the whole book were the cliffhangers and how the suspense made you not want to stop reading it. This book reminds me of a serial killer in Boston who strangled his victims to kill them. This novel also was very good at sucking you in so that you felt exactly how the characters felt. The last in Strasser's "Thrillogy". It was more of the same-mysterious killings, a twist at the end, lots of red herrings and cliffhanger chapters. I am sure it will appeal to students who want a quick, exciting read, but I just don't like the way Strasser writes female characters. The entire 3 book set in the "Thrillogy", (also includes Wish You Were Dead and Blood on My Hands) heavily features girls as main characters and they all seem rather flat. The only character that was mildly interestin...more
Shelby's life comes tumbling down when three girls go missing. The one thing they have in common is they were all clients of her father's modeling/photography agency. Strasser has a good YA mystery going here. Shelby is a likeable protagonist who has to grow up quickly her senior year. KIds want to think their parents are good people, but Shelby has to find out truths that paint her father in a bad light. With the help of her best friend, Roman, and a budding journalist from Sarah Lawrence, she...more
Strasser does a good job of writing a psychological thriller/mystery that holds your interest from the first page to the last making it hard to put down. I was instantly drawn into the book from the prologue's sentence: "I like you Shelby Sloan. If I have to kill you, I'll kill you last." I could have done without the slight romance in the book, since I think at times it deterred from the plot, but all in all this was a well written, fast-paced story that is perfect for fans of a "who-dun-it" my...more
I really enjoyed the book because it was a mystery that i was looking for, it had killing, it had suspense, and most of all, it had a lot of twists also. I would highly recommend this book to people that love to read, and especially if you're looking for mystery and horror books then this is the one for you!! This had to be one of the most exciting thriller mystery joyrides i have read in a long long time! An i dont normally read books again after i already read them, but this one is one that i...more
"It's young love. It's passionate, impatient and impetuous."
Kill You Last is the final book in Todd Strasser's Thrillogy series. This has been quite a good trilogy that I have slowly read over the last two years. I love putting on my detective cap and reading a good mystery and Todd Strasser is yet to disappoint. This book was quite short and constantly had me guessing and changing my mind about who the killer was. I did figure it out just before it happened but at the same time I didn't want...more

I found this book incredibly boring. Maybe it's because I'm used to reading thrillers like Stephen King or Dean Koontz or something, but I didn't find this book all that entertaining or action-filled. I felt like some of the story was so unbelievable (for example - how did the police even put together that all 3 girls were clients of Shelby's dad's when he apparently had HUNDREDS of clients and they were all from random towns near hers? Seems like a bit of a...more

Kill You Last follows Shelby Sloan as she deals with recent abductions and deaths, all of which are somehow connected to her father, who photographs models. Shelby, of course, is brought into this mess because she receives threatening e-mails referring to her and her father.

Shelby is having a really, really bad week. Or two. Multiple girls who had signed up with her father's modeling agency/photography studio have gone missing. She can't believe her dad would have anything to do with it, but then again ... she's starting to find out there may be a lot she doesn't know (or wouldn't admit to herself) about her father.

Third book in a "trilogy" that has a teenager who's photographer father is suspected of being connected to the disappearances of three young girls he photographed. Strasser doesn't pull a lot of punches when it comes to violence, but we don't see into the murderer's head -- just the main characters. But there is murder.
It's a good mystery/thriller for the YA set and older.
It's a good mystery/thriller for the YA set and older.
Shelby just can't believe that her dad is involved in this media-induced frenzy about the kidnapping and murder of three young women, but every new bit of information points in his direction. The least she can do is find out the truth - even if it's not what she's hoping for. A story that will keep you turning the pages to find out who the killer really is.
A solid murder mystery with a twisty plot with lots of stuff revealed as the plot went on, which made you keep guessing at who was behind the murders. I listened to this on audiobook and quite enjoyed it. I don't read tons of mysteries so it's hard to know if this is good for the genre, but I'd recommend it to teens who like murder mysteries.
Shelby's dad is a fashion photographer and when clients end up dead the heat is on him. The characters were not intriguing to me and I didn't care one way or the other about any of them. On the good side, there was no bad language and the only inappropriate situations were not in any detail. I won't be reading any of Strassser's previous books
this book is good for any crime drama. when family has a dark history. when a girl finds out her dad being killing girls and how the people of her school treats her that her father is a killer. she wants to find out more about her father and if it real or not. it great for anyone who loves to find out more

A finalist in the Edgar awards, this book got me out of the dystopian doldrums and into a fast moving, engrossing mystery, with lots of red herrings and a surprise finish. Also some themes of who do you trust, friendship and fathers were things to think about.
