I have no idea how a book that had such a promising premise and a great set up derailed so incredibly for me as I was reading. And 'derailed' is a good term because I felt like I was 'reading' a slo-mo trainwreck. That sounds hyperbolic and I don't mean it to be. But the story just started to unravel in so many ways for me that until the end I did not like, in any way, a single character in this book.

Now, I have read a few of Marie Force's books. Some I've really liked and some that didn't work
I’m speechless. Actually speechless and I can’t remember the last time it happened to me after finishing a book.

There was so much going on in this story I could never do it justice no matter how long or detailed the review, so I’ll keep it simple.
This was a complex story of long friendships being broken because of an act out-of-character, of trust toppling when someone does something unexpected, of bonds made in a blink of an eye, of “survivor’s guilt”, of wondering how something good can be bor
My emotions were all over the place during this book. I can't remember reading a book where I wanted the lead couple to get together and at the same time was mad at them for getting together. Some authors take the easy way out when creating a "falling for my best friend's girlfriend" theme by making the best friend a jerk, but Marie Force made the best friend, Smitty, such a likeable and good man; I didn't want him to get hurt because of Ted and Caroline's relationship. It was not easy watching ...more
It's not that the writing in this book was bad, but I found all the characters' behavior so repugnant in this book that I really found it hard to enjoy the novel. I usually try not to rate a book based on my dislike/like of a character's actions, but it was hard with this book because I didn't find anything remotely 'romantic' about this romance. Icky. Definitely a love triangle that I did not like, and that is a first for me. Most of the time, I just wanted to slap some sense into the love bird ...more
The Fall was a great story of love, heartbreak, fighting for what you believe in, and finding your happily ever after. While I extremely enjoyed this book I couldn't give it anymore than 3 starts because of the ending. It was a great story of true love and what the hero and heroine had to fight for and lose because they fell in love, I found myself engrossed with their story, what was going to happen next, would he regret what happened between them, would they be able to overcome everything that ...more

This is the second book I have read from Force. The first book was the Wreck which I absolutely LOVED! Unfortunately, The Fall fell flat for me. I could see how some readers would absolutely love this book because the story line definitely had promise. However, 3 out of 4 friends literally jumped into the first date saying I Love you within minutes. I understand fate, love at first sight, kismet, etc. but really Ted and Caroline? Dropping everything and hurting alot of people after having a conv ...more
The other books that I've read of this author's, I really enjoyed. While I was looking forward to reading this story because of the premise (hero falls for his best friend's girlfriend), it turned out to be painful to read through to the end.
While I can understand the need for the angst and turmoil that happened, it got to a point that I really did not want to finish the book. The happily ever after ending fell flat for me.
Well, I guess you win some and lose some.

This was probably one of the most INTENSE books I've ever read!
LOVED the writing, story, and characters.
Once again Ms. Force took me on a wonderful roller-coaster ride to FINALLY get to a HEA.
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. It's a book about love, life, families and friendship, and I loved it from start to finish!
Was this story amazing?...YES! Did I love it?...not part of it. I rated it 5 stars because I am so glad I read it and it really got me... at least starting half way through the book, I cried and cried and I cried. I am not much of a crier either, I get choked up, maybe a tear in my eye, but not sob, I sobbed. I don't think I should go into much detail because it would just spoil it. There were many heartbreaking themes that affected friendships, family, and deep love.

The story begins with four b

I don't like Ted. I wanted more Smitty and Parker. Caroline was weak. She let him walk all over her. Ted was an idiot, and did not deserve his friends- and it is not just about Caroline, he did it all wrong (in a admitedly bad situation) and then felt sorry for himself to the point that he was hurting Caroline like it was all her fault. Basically, I felt Ted was a selfish jerk and Caroline was a dormat. First time I did not fall head-over-heals for a Marie Force H... but Smitty and Parker were g ...more

Recommends it for: those wanting a story of friendship when the loyalty is gone.

I liked the book because it not follow the typical plot. I found myself relating to almost all the characters. Though, I had an issue with the speed of Ted and Caroline’s relationship, as it moved too quickly to even be believable. I have been where Smithy was, so I certainly understood his reactions to the situation he found himself in. I can’t say I ever felt bad for Ted and Caroline as a couple, as they handled the whole situation poorly. I do have to say, even though Caroline was not my favo ...more
There is no review that could do this book justice. I wouldn't know where to start, where to end, but I know I loved it. I was invested in what happened to all the characters and at times my heart was breaking for them. I was sad when it was over. 5 BIG stars.

The Fall

This book was very different then the other books that Marie Force writes, but I loved it. Ted is a Pedestrian Oncology doctor who lives for his job, patients, friends and family. Caroline is Ted's best friend girlfriend, but they meet and there connection is so strong that they try to fight it. Parker one of Ted's other best friend is a lawyer that is been in love with ex client for 2 years. He hopes she feels the same. Smitty is in love with Caroline but knows she does not love him. H
OMG! Emotional, heart-wrenching, what a story! There were moments when I had to stop, take a breath, and pick up the parts of my heart that got broken into tiny pieces.
What a great read! I think I had tears in my eyes for the whole second half of the book. Great characters with real life emotions. Several love stories in one awesome book!
I loved this book! The emotional journey's of the characters in the book was amazing. This book brought me to tears more than once. Can't say enough how much I loved this book!

The best book I have read by Marie Force to date. Amazing story line and great characters.
I really enjoyed this book and I am not sure why. It wasn't because the characters were likable, because I didn't like them in the least, and it didn't matter to me if the future worked out for them or left them alone and flat on their faces, because I really didn't care about them and felt they deserved whatever consequences they faced. Too bad the people they stomped all over did not deserve to face those consequences. However, the characters, although unsympathetic, were so very real--just fa ...more

I love Marie Force. She is one of my favorite romance authors. She yet again wrote another good story. Not a great one, but it was still good. I love her writing because she always does a great job of capturing romance. She draws you into the story. I'm not crazy about Ted and Caroline. They seem to fall to easily in love. I know that people believe in love at first sight. Are you sure you can say you love someone after really knowing them for all of 5 minutes?

Let me begin by saying that Marie Force is one of my favorite authors. I have read all of her series books and am one book away from finishing her single titles. This book, like her others, is an exceptional read. It will take you from smiling to crying to smiling again.

The first thing that really made me love this book is that the good Dr. Ted is a pediatric oncologist. My daughter had cancer at 15 months old and we did surgery, chemo, years of doctor visits, hospital stays, etc., so I fell in
I really did enjoy this book. Talk about a page turner and a much different book from Marie than I expected.

The broken friendships and the death of a loved one takes Ted to the brink. I found it odd that he just gave up. It was as if he was saying you are all right. She is not worth it... I am not worth it ... we are not worth it... so I am going to run away. I really did not like the way Mitzi seemed to side with Smitty over her own son... that was just wrong. It would have been nice if Lilian
Whilst I really liked this book, I didn't love it as I have many others by Marie Force. Don't get me wrong, it's written to her usually high standard, the story stirs your emotions, the locations are beautifully descriptive, the story line is there and it has some good steamy moments, I just didn't fall in love with the characters as I usually do.

To summise the plot, Ted, Smitty, Parker and Chip are in their late thirties, have been friends for over 20 years and are all successful professional m
You are bound to find a few cliche's in this book two that instantly come to mind and seem to suit this novel. "Everything happens for a reason and Love at first sight"

If you believe in the above then you will not doubt LOVE this book. If you think this is hog wash then you may want to pass on this love story.

I just loved that this story centered around a group of Best Friends best Male Friends!!! The way Force writes this gang seems very real and we grow to love the tight knit circle.

Laughter, love, and tears

Another fabulous story from Marie Force. From Ted and Caroline, to Smitty, Parker, and Chip, the friendships and love that are portrayed became so believable and real. The depth of love, and hurt, brought tears to my eyes. I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates the path of true love, and the way betrayal can alter our life's courses.
A 4.5 stars!!! First off - I ADORE Marie Force. This is the last of her books that I hadn't yet read. She is a must read for me. I think I cried more reading this book than any I can remember. Very emotional writing, wonderful characters, complex page turning story of relationships between friends, families and lovers. Gotta say I almost gave up on Ted in the last few chapters before he redeemed himself with Caroline. And it’s usually the female leads in a story I want to smack a little sense in ...more

Not one of her best

I usually love all her books but was very disappointed with this one. I signed most of the book there was some very touching moments that brought tears to my eyes but too much going on for one book. it should have been several books with more time to the characters.

I honestly don't know what to say...I just finished this book and LOVED IT. It was so emotional. I have never felt like this after reading a book...ever, not even from books of my long time favorite authors.

There was so much emotional drama in this book that there were parts I felt like I was the one that it was happening to. I was reading it at one point today and felt ashamed...not because of reading the book but because there was a part in the book the characters were going through such an e

Love Conquerors All

It always amazes me how Marie Force can keep the story so involved and keep it so
Interesting with twists and turns before she finally ends the book.
