This is brief biographical history and chronological description of the buildings designed by Albert Kahn and his firm primarily in the Detroit area and University of Michigan. The primary value of the book is in the pictures. Kahn was one of the founders of modern industrial architecture but I found most interesting were his buildings at the U of M and the domestic architecture with many palatial estates of the early 20th century some of which are open to visit such as the Edsel Ford house in ...more

Very good and interesting book, but it is very brief and the text requires some existing knowledge of architectural terminology and history. Mostly a chronological list of events and major structures, but it does have some excellent illustrations. Sadly, many of the buildings still standing when the book was published have since been demolished.
