This is a very practical book - easy to follow with excellent diagrams and instructions for the different stitches. As the subtitle says, it has 64 squares to crochet, and it has them neatly categorised into types of pattern.

The book uses 5 different colours, with some squares using all 5, and others using different combinations. I found some wool I'd bought years and years ago that I had in three colours, so I went through doing mostly 3-colour squares (but also three 2-colour ones). I don't re...more

Since I enjoyed Crochet Techniques by Renate Kirkpatrick so much, I decided to pick up this book. The book starts with an introduction which includes illustrated stitch instructions, a stitch symbol key, and some helpful tips for weaving in ends since the patterns require frequent color changes. Renate also includes directions for edging and joining the squares in the beginning section.
