There are no chapters in this story as the whole is made up of each female character’s separate story. It is cleverly crafted in how at first we read about the present interspersed with the past – we are finding out where they are today and what has happened in the past to lead them there. Then the stories eventually come together in the present time and lead on where the other character finishes. I loved this as it kept me interested and wanting to read on.

I empathised with Anna and Toby – wit...more

This review will contain a few spoilers. :)

This book was a mixed bag for me. It started out good, what with the wonder of how will Toby and Anna get together (because we all knew they would at the end) as the plot idea interests me. I originally picked it up as a book to read on holiday and I didn't have that high expectations s but for a chic lit way to pass the time.

As it started strong, we got shown all the main characters pasts, which gave them a little more depth. I started off liking Ella...more
Don't buy this book unless you like sickly sweet stories, drippy, selfish, tear-sodden heroines, and an ending tied up in a big pink bow. Anna is insufferable and something of a Mary Sue character - petite, gorgeous, perfect all the time, supposedly beautiful even when she's blubbing like a baby. Claire should be a stronger character, but takes a fork down the Anna route, as does Rachel. Ella is the only one that improves slightly over time.

This reads like the kind of story a starry-eyed teenage...more
The whole thing was written in a way that you felt like a stalker or someone was about to get murdered.

The character Ella just made me feel sick.

We didnt get any background on Toby or why he was so lovable except for the cringeworthy pickup line 'lets get lost together', that he has sharp cheekbones. I think not young man.

Don't get me started on the soul mate but happy to string someone along for 7 years baloney. Love the one your with!

I found it all to depressing 3/4 through the book and quit.

I've read a lot of this kind of book, stories of women and their friendships and loves. I liked a lot of them, a lot less. I have to admit that I didn't like this one, at all. Sure, it's fluid and it misses something.
First of all, love frames, the one between Toby and Anna. But, as far as it is romantic and perfect, it's too romantic and too perfect. It's impossibile to believe that this kind of love really exists, too mushy and almost annoying. The point is that you consider Anna with dislike,...more
An easy read chick-lit. It’s broken down in chapters voiced by each of the four girls, which i liked. It brought a little more detail and quirkyness to each character, as we seen particular senarios from their viewpoint.

It is however, a very predictable story. Some times I just wanted to throttle the characters, other times I really felt for them. I have to say Clare was my favourite over all. She just seemed the most grown up of the four girls. Anna, who the story mainly centres around, annoyed...more
Anna’s world is rocked when she receives an invitation to her ex Toby’s nuptials – Toby was The One, The Love of Her Life, The One That Got Away. Will attending his Big Day finally give her the sense of closure she so desperately craves? Or will it only re-open old wounds? Clare is Anna’s best friend, the person who was there for her when she and Toby split all those years ago. But little does Clare know that Toby’s wedding day will also change her own life for ever. Ella is a classic femme fata...more

RSVP is the first novel by Helen Warner, which tells the story from four different girls perspective to an upcoming wedding. Rachel is the bride to be, for some reason feeling a little too nervous about her up coming wedding day, Anna is the groom's ex-girlfriend, who considers Toby as the one who got away, Clare is Anna's best friend, who knew both Anna and Toby at university and Ella is the girl that wants what she can't have and will stop at nothing to get it.

I really enjoyed RSVP, it was a g...more
Started of alright. Flowed well etc etc. Then some reason it went down hill for me.

I liked Rachel, she could have been more though, I hated Anna.
Rachel has loads of good qualities about her where as Anna was a pathetic main character. A total brat who only thinks about herself.

After ruining Rachels wedding to Toby, she and Toby gets back together. She's jealous of Rachel and keeps thinking Toby somewhat still thinks about her etc. Well what did she expect since Toby and Rachel were toge...more

This, my fellow readers, is no ordinary ‘chicklit’ novel. No, no, it really isn’t. It lures you in with that lovely cover, looking like a lovely invitation, with a lovely border in my favourite colour, then BAM! You’ve been sucker punched by one amazing rollercoaster of a story!

Oh where to start about RSVP? I went into expecting some nice fluff and my happy ever after to round it off. What I didn’t expect was the heartbreak and angst running throughout the book. It was raw, powerful and beautif...more

"J'aime beaucoup les nouvelles collections Milady et je guette donc toutes leurs nouvelles sorties. Cette histoire de mariage et d'amour de jeunesse ainsi que la jolie couverture rose m'ont tout de suite intrigué."

Dites-nous en un peu plus sur son histoire...

This was an impulse buy when I was doing the weekly shop, I liked the sound of the synopsis so I thought I’d give it a try.

I quickly found myself engrossed in the storyline and the characters lives. The history of the main characters held my interest and I couldn’t wait to see how the wedding would pan out.

I really disliked Ella to begin with but eventually that dislike turned to pity and then to respect, it was so interesting to see how her character learned and grew in the way she did. Rachel...more
Rachel is going to marry Toby! This seems like a dream come true, except that Anna is still in love with Toby, and Toby might still be in love with Anna. And then there’s the problem of Ella, who was the “other woman” when Anna and Toby were dating during their university years ten years ago. Thank goodness for Clare, who is there to support Anna through all the emotional ups and downs the wedding day promises to bring! But what will happen when Clare faces emotional difficulties of her own?

When a wedding invitation drops through her door, Anna has to face up to the memory of the one man she loved getting married to another. Helen Warner introduces us to Anna and Toby, university sweethearts who lost their way; Clare and James, a couple that have to face up to more than their fair share of challenges; and Ella, the femme fatale who has a change of heart.

Warner has written a very sweet novel, where interconnecting stories jump forwards and backwards in time, and plotlines intertwine...more

Why: recommendation

Brief synopsis: Anna has never gotten over her university boyfriend Toby. She's determined he's The One, but he's about to marry Rachel. Then there's Clare, Anna's best friend and Ella, the cause of all the problems. Will there even be a wedding?

What I thought: I found this book was quite hard to get into at the start - you're introduced to a lot of characters over the first few chapters (Anna, Clare, Toby, Rachel, Ella, James, Daniel, Max.....more
Enfin!

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! I was instantly gripped from the first page. When I found the book on our newly arrived shelf in our library, i knew it was definitely a book I would enjoy, and Warner did not disappoint I was surprised it was her first book, it was so well written and i am looking forward to her next work.

I was instantly gripped with Anna's heartbreak and developed a hatred for Ella and felt sorry and understood Rachel so well (aww I felt so sorry for her, but i'm glad she has a hap...more
I'm going to keep this one basic. It was a good book, I didn't think I was going to like it at all because this book wasn't my usual style but it turned out to be quite good! At first I felt sorry for Anna but that grew into hatred towards her. She was such a moaning bitch and so jealous all the time and it got really annoying. Toby was also a bit of a jerk but he was alright most of the time. I enjoyed the stories and the different perspectives when two or more girls joined into one story. The...more
Four women are due to attend a wedding - Rachel the bride, Anna who had a relationship with Toby the groom, Anna's friend Clare, and Ella who split up Anna and Toby and may be out to cause more trouble.

The book flashes back and forward in time from the characters' university days to the present, and is quite filmic in the way it does so - no surprise that the author works in TV! I found all the changes of timeframe a bit distracting at first, but there are fewer of them as the book goes on so th...more

This started out great, but by the end I was so annoyed with the main characters, Toby and Anna, that my enjoyment of this book had gone way down. All the characters - but these two in particular - whined, moaned and were so self-absorbed in the second half of this book it's a wonder any of them found any happiness. The ending was extremely obvious - so much so I wanted to slap Anna for being so dense - but it came slightly too early for my liking because we never found out what happened with Cl...more

Nothing groundbreaking but a perfectly pleasant read that has me wanting to read Warners other novels. Liked how there weren't chapters but a portion of the story told from different characters' perceptions. Very engaging easy read.
I borrowed this book from my local library but will be buying it as i think everybody should have this book in there collection haha.

I picked it up because I really like the design of the cover but mainly because it was recommened to me by a friend and I am so glad that it was, as it is a very enjoyable read and I loved reading it.

I love how this book is told from the different perspectives of four women Anna, Clare, Ella and Rachel and how there stories join together.

Average. Plot very oddly paced. Sort of feels finished half way through then some other stuff happens. Feels a bit soap opera-y. Lost count of how many times the word 'mischievous' is used.
I enjoyed this book. It's is grown up chick-lit.

This book centres around 4 women: Anna who is still in love with Toby - 10 years have passed since they were together. Clare Anna's best friend and house mate, who has never fallen in love. Ella who went to uni with Clare, Anna and Toby and spilt Toby and Anna up. Rachel who is marrying Toby but is not sure he is over Anna.

Each chapter focus' on a different women and I think that is what makes this book come together so well. You get to feel the e...more
I was after something fluffy and light when I decided to read this book and, as far as it went, wasn't disappointed. I think my desire for fluffy and light had gone by the time I was about half way through however, as the story had not really managed to grip me at all, I'm not sure how much of this was down to me and my mood rather than the book itself. On the face of it this is a perfectly good light chick-lit novel, with a 'will she get the boy' style story line, and there are no major suprise...more
This is the first Helen Warner book I've read and it certainly will not be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. It is a very light hearted book with a very easy to read style. I'm very much , looking forward to reading her next book.

This book was great and I really want to read another one like it. It's the prefect love story.
After looking for a juicy, drama-filled novel, I hate to say that this was not what I was looking for and left me wanting more. Third person present tense from multiple points of view is tricky at best and runs a risk of inadequate character development, leading to lack of empathy, relatability, and in my case, interest. Unfortunately the execution of multiple viewpoints by this author was ok at best, where random points of 'oh by the way, she's THIS type of person' were out of place and too lit...more

This was a great fluffy girly book.

Really fun and enjoyable. The characters were likeable and I wanted to learn more about them.

A good easy enjoyable read.
