Quando eu tinha uns 14 anos, meu pai me levou numa livraria e duas coisas me chamaram a atenção: A Viajante do Tempo, da Diana Gabaldon e a série Os Reis Malditos, do Maurice Druon.
This one seems to take more liberties with history than the previous two entries. This tale continues the short reign of Louis X and how in ten short months undid a lot of the work of his predecessor. The questions around Louis' death is explored fully in this chapter. The side story continues with the Lombard banker Guccio's quest to marry the woman he is in love with. This story is almost more interesting than the main story line, since this one demonstrates the absurdity of the nobility to ma...more
3rd installment in "The Accursed Kings" series.
Princess Clementia arrives at France after a terrible storm at sea (which, among other things she considers to be an ill omen for her marriage) to meet her fiancee king Louis, who meanwhile goes to an ill-fated war against Flanders.
Jeanne of Burgundy, the one sister-in-law of Isabella of France not guilty of adultery, but only of aiding and abetting, is released from her confinement and reunited with her husband Philippe of Poitiers.
Guccio and Marie...more

Et p...more
This days, in this third book, I have been tottaly absorbed by this story. Is definitely an excellent sequence of books in which I am discovering that dramatic period of the France history that I never imagined. Now, I like to go to France in the future, in order to visit some historical places named in this story, the museums, palaces and other monuments related whith the kings and people of that period. I am learnig so much reading this story, I can´t stop. Now, I am going for the next.

The third in Druon's 'Accursed Kings' saga sees Louis X awaiting the arrival of his beautiful and pious new bride, Clemence of Hungary. But he faces problems in his realm: the barons are rising up, there's famine and war with the Flemings...
Alongside the story of the royals, Druon continues the tale of young Lombard banker, Guccio Baglioni, and his love for a French noblewoman...
Brilliantly researched as ever
