In case you missed the previous memo, I am no way near a vegan or vegetarian, but I sure do need some of their recipes. I've had a pretty good start with The Meat Lover's Meatless Cookbook: Vegetarian Recipes Carnivores Will Devour, but I have also found some incredible inspiration from Fresh and Fast Vegan: Quick, Delicious, and Creative Recipes to Nourish Aspiring and Devoted Vegans author Amanda Grant. Book 10 2012 Reading Challenge
After watching Forks for Knives and listening to a panel of doctors discuss nutrition and heart disease, I decided to get some vegan cookbooks. I think the title of this -- as far as the "Fast" goes, is a bit of misnomer. Many of these take a lot of prep-- for example the roasted red peppers and pasta dish. The peppers take time to roast, steam, and peel. Another issue I found is the book does nor provide sources for specialty items, such a custard powder, harissa,
I'm not vegan. And really, I don't cook either.

But, I'm transitioning more to a plan of clean eating, so I decided that a "quick, delicious, and creative" little cookbook definitely couldn't hurt me.

For what I'm doing right now, it wasn't astonishingly useful, honestly. I'm not really doing much with bread right now, nor am I eating pasta -- and a lot of the meals use these as a staple. While the recipes contained within Fresh and Fast were in fact fast, they did not do anything for me. I am good in the kitchen and rarely follow a recipe, but I do enjoy reading cookbooks for inspiration. However, I gained no inspiration from this book as most of the recipes are too simple and obvious, at least to me. There were also far too many recipes that relied on a deep frier or frying in general-something I never do. Frying also rather eliminates the whole "fresh" idea in my opi
