I kind of think that this whole "love" between Luce and Daniel is just like the one with Elena and Stefan. I´m so sick of it. In my opinion Elena should be with Damon and Luce should be with Cam.

Ooooo, the cover is out. It's... different.

Ok, this is definitely sounding like a prequel type book guys.

It might be the third in the series, but it goes backwards and covers 5000+ years....
But perhaps it covers those years as she travels, so it is them looking back, rather than a true prequel? So a hybrid prequel?!

Finished Passion in about 4 hours, so a nice quick read.

2.5 stars. The Fallen series has always been sort of a hit and miss with me. The first book was fairly boring and emo, with the only redeeming factors being an interesting ending and an intriguing character (Cam). Sorry to piss off all the rabid fans of book 1, but nothing really happened in that book until the end. It was a lot of mooning and pining and boring conversations. For me, the second book was more interesting story-wise with less filler, but also featured less of Cam and more of new c...more 2.5 stars. For me, the second book was more interesting story-wise with less filler, but also featured less of Cam and more of new characters that I didn't care much about getting to know.

Which brings us to book 3 - the bridge book. This book, I presume, will be connecting the premise of the first two books with the next part of the series, which appears to be heading in a completely different direction from the boarding school setting into a darker time of war and conflict.

I noticed that some people found this book boring, and I didn't. However, I enjoy reading historical fiction, and this mirrored a HF book. For those who don't read the genre, it might be a little slower to them. But, even though I found the story interesting, I did not like this format being plopped down into the middle of a series. It was too drastically different from the previous two books. I feel this story would have been better handled through flashbacks, or gradual time travel, maybe a few instances over each book instead of it being thrown together in one book.

Was this bridge successful? It accomplished its goal, but not without some loss of cohesion. For most of book 1, there was some sort of hinting at a love triangle between Daniel/Luce/Cam. In book 2, Cam was pushed to the background, but it was also made quite clear that Cam was still there, ready to defend Luce at all costs. In book 3? He wasn't even there, and when he was, Luce was never a focus for him. The introduction of the Lillith character (and her bloodline) brought about new questions. (view spoiler) By the way...if anyone has read my spoiler and has any theories on this, please feel free to drop a comment. I read so fast, that I could have missed an important detail here.

Then there was the whole Bill thing. I completely saw that coming.

Then we come to Luce/Lucifer. Is Luce related to Lucifer, was she a previous love, or is she a pawn in his game?

Is this the time where I tug at my beard and say, "the plot thickens?" Well, I would if I was capable of growing a beard.

At least Luce didn't do anything too stupid in this installment (big shock considering her past record), so I'll be moving on to book 4.

After the events in Torment, Luce starts using the announcers to time travel back in time to find out if she and Daniel are truly meant for each other but also to see if she can break the curse on her once and for all. She then comes across a new friend named Bill, who seems to want to help her but can she trust him? Or does he have a hidden agenda? And while Luce is visiting her past selves she doesn't realise that Daniel is chasing her, trying to find her, to save her.

Wow! Lauren Kate has completely raised the bar now for the fourth and final book. Passion was completely addictive that I managed to finish it within 24 hours. From page one you just know you’re just going to love it as Lauren takes you on this exciting journey. The amount of detail that has gone into this story makes you imagine you’re standing right in Luce's place, it really makes you wish you had your own announcer to travel in but what I loved most was the different era's and the different stories that brought our two main characters together. Watching their love unfold each and every time really touches you and leaves you praying there is a happy ending for them.

Luce does a lot of growing up through-out this book. Watching her and Daniel's past lives meet, fall in love and then of course, watching herself die was a lot for her to take in but most of all she now realises that their relationship is pure and everlasting and no matter the outcome, they will always find a way to be together.

Now Daniel, I really enjoyed being able to follow him on his journey because we've never really seen that before. Not only do we get a peek at what it’s like for him but we also see how much he truly loves Luce, this boy will do anything for her and I love that. Not only is his relationship with Luce interesting to watch but Daniel's relationship with Cam was also another one that really caught my attention, the way they were in the this book leaves me a little hope that maybe one day, they may be the brothers they once were and I'll look forward to seeing what happens.

The ending of this book will leave you speechless; I was only disappointed that I didn’t have the next book ready and waiting for me. I don’t want to tell you to much of the ending because I honestly don’t want to spoil it for you, but let’s just say…..evil has arisen and all our favourite characters will need to work together to defeat it.

Overall, I think any fans of this series will be pleased that Lauren has managed to capture so many aspects of Daniel's and Luce's love through this out story. She has done an amazing job, one that was truly beautiful to read about and I for one can’t wait for the fourth and final book. 2012 can’t come quick enough.

I love the cover. :) Don't get why people don't like it. Yeah the girl looks like a witch (really wish they hadn't shown her face) and looking at those brown clouds makes me think of air pollution/Southern Asia/Pakistan...but I really like her dress, and the red rose she's holding. Why didn't they use the Fallen model, though? This girl's way to skinny.

... So, this book is definitely my favourite of the Fallen Series, I think it's fair to say that they keep getting better.
Definitely a hybrid prequel, and I really enjoyed it...

Passion- such a nice cover. Of course, lots of other people say that the cover is as bad as the book itself is. Personally, I thought Torment was actually a step up from Fallen, and I can see it going a lot of places with passion.

Passion was a big disappointment. Repetitive, boring, and predictable, it dragged and dragged for me. The author said it's the most romantic book, but basically it was just Luce watching all her past selves interact with a past Daniel. Even when she "cleaved" with herself, it was a past version of Daniel that she was talking to/kissing, so it didn't count. And that was the entire book!

It took the whole book to get there, and I felt like we could've guessed the reason from hints throughout the series. And what was the end result of Luce's big quest? Oh, that she and Daniel love each other. I nearly threw the book across the room. If someone would like to help me out on all the amazing things we learned, please feel free, because I'm at a loss. We still don't know what/who Luce is and why Daniel fell in love with her; we don't know what's up with Cam, why he went for Luce in the first one. Those were some things I was reeally planning on finding out. And I wish we would've gotten to spend more time with the other angels! Arriane (a personal favorite), Gabbe, Roland, and yes, Cam. They all add some color, comic relief, and not to mention reality. Something Luce and Daniel are utterly devoid of.

It is always talking about this amazing love that they have, but I just don't feel it. They seem to tell you, rather than show you, as a well written book does. And they are constantly talking about how all they want to do is kiss each other. So I felt like it was mostly lust, rather than real love. If it were real, true love, they'd be just as anxious to BE in each others presence, to just talk about life, rather than how "in love" they are. They are sorely lacking the friendship aspect, which makes it unrealistic and unbelievable.

There was no plot, which is sometimes excusable if the characters are well developed, bright and interesting. Needless to say, they were not. Luce rivals Bella from Twilight with her utter whininess and self absorption. But this time, Daniel was equally self absorbed. The world literally doesn't expand beyond himself and Luce for him. Which is nice to an extent-this can come across as sweet and touching, etc. When it's done well.

It wasn't the worst book I'd ever read. I did laugh a couple of times. I did swoon once or twice. But all in all, I found it very poorly written. I'm sorry if you liked it, I personally hate to read reviews bashing books that I loved. Will I read the final book? Right now I'm thinking definitely not, but we'll see how I feel later. Maybe I'll get bored enough. (less)

Passion is the third book in the Fallen series written by Lauren Kate. This book has many flashbacks where Luce explores her past lives in order to discover how her love for Daniel began, and why they are cursed. She wants to unlock this curse in order to understand her fate. But the catch is: Daniel is chasing after her before she has a chance to rewrite history.

i will say, i think this cover is pretty wack compared to the other two. and i'm not really fond of the prequel idea at all. i feel like it's a crappy way to make money off of people that are in love with the series by dragging it out as long as possible. i personally don't care to follow the both of them through their previous lives as i feel the mystery of it all is what makes the series so big for me. just get back t...more

With YA books it usually pretty hard for me to get into. I mean the storyline has be something to catch my eye. I am so picky that if I cant get into it with the first 100 pages I am done. But this whole series has really been fun to read. Sometimes you need something light.

Okay, so my overall thoughts on this book is summed into one word.

Disappointed.

I had picked this book up back when it was freshly released and put it down almost immediately because of my glances at each chapter titles. I didn't like the idea of going through so many different times and all that nonsense. So I put it down and didn't pick it back up for a good while. And because for the life of me I cannot stop reading a series of books when I am more than halfway through, I had to finish it. I had picked this book up back when it was freshly released and put it down almost immediately because of my glances at each chapter titles. I didn't like the idea of going through so many different times and all that nonsense. So I put it down and didn't pick it back up for a good while. And because for the life of me I cannot stop reading a series of books when I am more than halfway through, I had to finish it. So, when I started reading it again two weeks ago I realised that the travelling through different time periods wasn't as bad as I anticipated it to be. What did disappoint me was how quickly Luce went through her different time periods and how it was all about one thing, finding out her curse and how to change it and trying to see how much Daniel really does love her. I understand that really was what this book is meant to be about, but for me it could have been about a lot more than that. Perhaps Luce trying to learn new things about herself through past lives, learning what type of person Daniel has been previously and understanding him on a different level and discovering a mass of other things to love about him. As I said, it could have been more.

So, for starters I couldn't stand that Luce zoomed through everything so quick, I knew that her lifetimes were going to each come to their inevitable spontaneous combustible end, but it became like groundhog day with only very slightly changed occurances. It went like this: New time period, find different Daniel and Luce, watch their love secretly or hop into past Luce's body, old Luce explodes, next life time. It was highly boring after a while and I really didn't want to read anymore, but alas, I am not a quitter when it comes to books.

Another thing that bothered me quite a lot was Bill. That pesky yet helpful (or so it seems) little gargoyle really and truly ticked me off. I kept imagining that little alien in the Flinstones movie that used to hit Fred over the head and call him 'dumb dumb'. It would have been a hell of a lot better if he had of actually shown himself to be some other human looking character who wasn't invisible to everyone but Luce. That would have been loads more fun to read about than what was written into this book.

I really hate to add yet another bad point for this book but here I go again. I didn't like how whenever Luce and Daniel went to kiss it was described in absolute full detail. To be fair, the detail was well written, but there are only so many words you can use to describe a kiss, no matter what the type of kiss. It got really predictable and boring to read about I thought. The whole romance in this book I just couldn't grasp either. I know how ridiculous that might sound having just read a story about a life time of romances, but when I read Fallen I believed it, when I read Torment I believed the struggles in their love, when reading Passion, I felt that it went over the top with passion and lacked actual real, true love. Luce couldn't even describe how she knew her and Daniel were soul mates, she didn't have any form of answer except the cliche 'I just know'.

So, for as much as I have given this book some pretty low points, I think it deserves some recognition for being historically correct, to my knowledge anyway. It deserves praise for the way that the words were strung together, because Lauren Kate does have a way with words and I really did actually like the story, I just wish it had of been a bit more thought through and certain things modified. I think I would recommend this book for someone a little younger, although make sure you can actually follow a story, because this one was a little difficult at times.(less)

The scenarios depicted had already been described previously by Daniel and Luce's experiencing them through the Announcers didn't do anything to fill out the meaning of the experiences. Instead it just added a lot of action sequences that felt rushed in pacing. I feel like choosing a select few and really delving into them and giving more meaning to each segment could have helped. I'd also have liked to learn more about Daniel.

The point of this book was to prove that Daniel *chose* Luce over Heaven and Hell time and time again, yet, in these historic events, I didn't see choice. As soon as he sees her, he falls in love with her, and supposedly it's because he sees her *soul* rather than her person. Is her soul the same when her personality consistently changes from incarnation to incarnation? The Helston Luce was a particularly unattractive one, and a bit of a spoiled, horrid person. Is this book implying that spoiled, selfish, rotten Helston Luce has the same soul as selfless, brave, caring Milan Luce? It's a bit of a stretch. I wanted Luce to have some sort of trait that made this connection more concrete, something more than "he sees her soul and that's what he loves, so don't question it."

The only vignette I didn't like was the Shakespearean one, which seemed heavily influenced by Shakespeare in Love. I'm not a big fan of Gwyneth, so having a Gwyneth/Luce did nothing to make me like the book more.

The only truly interesting part of this book was watching the fall of Cam. There really needed to be more of Cam in this book because he appears to be the only character who has multiple dimensions. Sadly, he was less present than any of the other characters.

I love angel lore and I so want this story to be good. For some reason I keep coming back for more and keep getting disappointed. At least I've wizened enough to borrow from the library rather than buy it. (less)

Wow...was I mistaken. This book is F-A-B! I have to admit my sceptical-o-meter was pretty high; I kind of doubted this books potential..until I realised..I CAN NOT PUT IT DOWN.
the reason for my doubts was that torment left me a little "Mmh..when-is-Daniel-Gonna-get-his-sexy-lil-a***-in-this"
If I was truthful (which I am not :P) I was about to do the "skim read"* in torment but I didn't end up doing so. (Gawd! am I so glad)
it picked up near to the end, especially when Miles kissed Luce and Dani...more

I'll be honest. I definitely struggled with this book.

Maybe I am a little burned out on paranormal/fantasy, or maybe I waited too long to actually read it, but it was really hard for me to get into Lauren Kate's Passion.

In the beginning everything Luce said or did annoyed me. She was stubborn and didn't listen, and she struggled with seeing what was always right in front of her. Okay, if the guy looked like Daniel? And he'd spent thousands of years lusting over me? Well, I'd probably be super okay with that situation. I wouldn't question it at all! I'd kinda just go with it, you know? (The Vow is now in theaters, btw)

But back to the review...

In the end, I guess I was proud of Luce for going out there and risking everything to figure things out for herself. I just wished that it hadn't taken me reading 95% of the book before it actually got interesting. I enjoyed visiting Luce's past lives, but nothing really happened until the very end.

Now, I know. You either love it or you hate it, but you have to admit there is something about this story that just leaves you wanting more. YES, some plot lines are a little wonky. YES, the overall delivery could have been a bit smoother. And YES, we're three books in and most of our questions are still unanswered. But I still think Lauren Kate has managed to create something really unique and gripping with the Fallen series. For me, this rang true within the last chapters in Passion. I won't spoil it for you, but I will say that it made every maddening second a little less maddening.

I am still looking forward to the final book in the series, Rapture (June 2012). I can't wait to see how this will end!!(less)
