TITANIC is the title of the book. The authors are Mary Pope Obersone and Sal Murdocca.
This book is about a new ship that was built. This ship was going from Southamton,England, to New York City (page 27). The captain of the ship was Edward Smith (page 27). Many people enjoy traveling on his ships. He was planning to retire after the the voyage of the TITANIC (page 27).

Tonight on the Titanic by Mary Pope Osborne is Book #17 in the Magic Tree House series featuring brother and sister Jack and Annie. This chapter book is intended for readers in grades one through three. I gave it four stars. This chapter book is a book of historical fiction, factually recounting the night that the Titanic sank as Annie and Jack try to learn the truth behind this sad event. The Magic Tree House has brought Jack and Annie into the pages of a Titanic book, putting them ont...more
This installment of the Magic Tree House Series was a bit heavy to say the least. Dealing with Titanic's very modern tragedy felt more real and harsh than any of the previous books. The only book in the series that I have to compare it to is Vacation Under the Volcano, where Jack and Annie visit Pompeii just before it is buried in volcanic ash. While also a massive tragedy, the Titanic is far closer to us in time and therefore has more of a emotional pull in our collective conscious as adults...more

I liked this book because you learnt some facts about the Titanic and you learnt what time it sank (2.20 in the morning). When it was 1.50 there were only 30 minutes left before it sank. Jack and Annie went on this mission because someone had put a spell on a dog called Teddy and to free him they had to get something from the Titanic. They got a watch from the Titanic and now they have to get another three special things to get rid of the spell. I liked 3 chapters - they were 'William and Lu...more

Jack and Anny were taken away by the magic tree house to back in time and were put on the titanic. Where they went to finish what they wanted to do to go back home. But during the book they were sent there to find something to cure the dog that they found back at home by the tree house. In the end they make it home with the cure on the tree house.

Tonight on the Titanic Jack and Annie find themselves on the famed boat just moments before it hit an iceberg. Will they be able to find what they are looking for before the ship sinks?

This sparked a real desire to learn more about the Titanic and we ended up reading several books about it after this one.
My generic review for the Magic Tree House books -
We've loved them all so far. They are fun, easy to read and contain quite a bit of historical information. We use them as read-alouds, but most elementary/middle school kids could read them on their own.
It does have a touch of 'girl power' at the expense of making the brother seem a little...more

#2 Drew Baker's Review: Tonight on the Titanic: Monday, May 16,11 8:15
Tonight on the Titanic is a good book. I suggest you read this if you like adventures.

It was about a little girl Annie and a little boy Jack and they have a magic treehouse with some pretty interesting secrets. They discover they can travel and end up going back to the day where the was the titanic incident. They struggle to try and stay alive but then finally make it back to their home in Penciylivania...i think that's how you spell it.Anyway they make it back home safely and continue their lives who knows the others secrets of that tree house.
My 4 yo and I are enjoying these short early chapter books. There is just enough adventure and danger to make a good story he can follow, as well as enough for me to enjoy. The bonus is these are "edutainment," so we both learn a few new facts. The book is full of information about the Titanic and it's last moments. There is the introduction of a new character in this book that will continue to help Jack and Annie. This book is the beginning of a 4 story arc.
you should read this story because it is about the titan that sets of fir its very 1st day and the titano are set out in differnt classess, their is 1st class and 2nd class and 3rd cladd the 1st clas people are very rich and the 2nd class people are about in the middle and the 3rd class people and very poor and they have absalutly nothing and so the titanic stes of for the very 1st day and all of a sudden it hits an ice-berg on the 15th of April, 1912, at about 2:00 in the morning. and nearly ev...more
This book was my favorite of the series at the time. Mostly because it was about the Titanic, duh.
The mystery of these next 4 books was a really good one. A small mystical dog appears and needs help to be freed. I loved visualizing every moment of this story as it happened and when the ship began to go, oh man, it was just enjoyable and the plot got so exciting and suspenseful.
Great everything. So good and my favorite.

Jack and Annie feel called to the Tree House and find a dog waiting for them. It is under a spell and need their help to change back. They are sent to the Titanic and are told that they should just be themselves. They find out that many passengers die because they wouldn't get off the ship because they thought they had time and that help would get to them, so they wouldn't get into the life boats. Jack and Annie run through the ship and find a young girl and her brother and convince them to get ...more

Tonight on the Titanic by Mary Pope Osborne begins a new four part series in the Magic Tree House books. Jack and Annie are called upon to collect four gifts to help Camelot in the time of war. Their first stop is the Titanic on the night the ship sank.

I liked how Jack and Annie escaped the sinking Titanic by getting back in the magic tree house. The magic tree house was on the Titanic! Jack and Annie met a sorcerer who had accidently changed himself into a dog. They found him in the magic tree house. Jack and Annie called the dog Teddy. He helped them get back to the magic tree house in time to escape.
So glad that my daughter is getting into listening to some chapter books... I also love that The Magic Tree House has an amazing mix of genres-historical fiction, fantasy, even a little science fiction with the time travel. Bring on some Jack & Annie, despite the formulaic format... Even that provides a comforting sense of familiarity to my young reader!
i really like this book because it talks about the titanic it tells about how it kinda happen. its a good book to read it, the movie was sad and it touched my my heart so when i heard that there was a book that was based on the titanic so i went to the library and got it and i read alot because i like i think everybody should read this book

Read this with Daylan. A good chapter book to read aloud with beginning readers or from them to start reading on their own. He liked the suspense and adventure in it and I liked how they include history about the Titanic at a level that is easy for kids to understand and make it fun for them to learn about new things.
If you haven't read these to your kids, you probably will! The whole premise of a magic treehouse that travels thru time and space is far-fetched but I love this series. It teaches all sorts of facts about history and science and geography. My five year old son will listen to three or four of these per day if I will read them.
I bought this one when i was in my Titanic phase and was interested to see how it could be written about for children and found it to be a nicely written adventure. Its a good story that can introduce children to the tradgedy of the Titanic in a manner they can relate to and with the familiarity of characters from an ongoing series.
Well, I intended to stay in order, but... that didn't happen. I thought this was an interesting book, because I've seen kiddos dying to read anything about the Titanic. I thought the writer handled a tough subject to a difficult age-range with a lot of respect and reverence. Very good work.
I read this book with one of my students. I was having a hard time getting him interested in any kind of books. We read this during our one on one time. I know that he became excited for a time that he used to dread. We read the rest in this particular group. Great series for young readers.
