I found this to be a surprisingly well-put-together story, especially considering that it was originally self-published. It's a comprehensive look at one person's descent into an eating disorder and the beginning of her pull out of it.

Like many eating-disorder memoirs, this might have benefitted from more distance. Although the author is honest in her account, that honesty is sometimes coloured by the way an eating disorder affects the brain -- pleasure in tricking the people around her; halfhea

The book was excellent and the writing style was fluid and easy to read! I very much appreciated the author's honesty about her journey and process of recovery as well as her struggles with different treatment centers and doctors. Her book has the potential to help a lot of people feel less alone. It's probably best for clients a little further along in their own journey because the writing is so intense throughout.

Though not particularly well-written, this is a compelling story of a girl whose anorexia began when she was eight years old, told from the perspective of a college junior in recovery. Unfortunately, after a fairly detailed and interesting narration of the progress of the disorder, we don't get an insight into the process of recovery as the book ends when she decides voluntarily to seek help.
