Timothy just seems the sort to be in the midst of trouble, doesn’t he?

First, we learned in A Promise of Hope that Timothy was keeping secrets about Peter… secrets that made him look like a liar if anyone found out the truth. So what does he do? He tries to keep the secrets hidden and does everything he can to run off Peter’s brother.

And we learned that he had planned to marry Miriam and built a house for them to live, but that she had broken off their relationship before the wedding, shattering

I enjoyed getting to understand the storyline behind Timothy's upset over Miriam's betrayal which was hinted at in the 2nd book of the series, and felt for both Timothy and Miriam at something that could have been avoided had they actually TALKED to each other rather than just assuming something was true without confirming it with each other. One can only hope that they will both have learned their lesson in making assumptions so they can avoid that kind of heartache in the future.

A great love story

I really like this book because, first of all, you get to readers about the people from the first books and how their lives continued. I like that the author includes not only the love story but also throws in other situations that catch your interest. The only thing I don't like is that it takes until the very last pages for the couple to resolve any differences or issues and then get together. This is a clean book, with no parts that made me uncomfortable. I also enjoy learni

Another fabulously written addition to the Kauffman Amish Bakery novels by Amy Clipston! I was super glad to have had the chance to review these novels in this series. They are about the plain and simple Amish, but they are packed full of BIG, complex lessons of God's never ending love and guidance.

Once again, we are taken to Pennsylvania Amish country through Amy's words and research. This particular addition to the series is my favorite. It just settled into my heart and pulled me straight in

The old saying “you can’t go home again” certainly rings true for Miriam Lapp who finds herself traveling back to her Amish community for her mother’s funeral. You know I adored the first and second book of the Kauffman Amish Bakery series and I have to tell you this third book totally exceeded my expectations. I loved this story so much. I devoured the book in a day and wished there was more.

The characters in this book drove me batty since they wouldn't communicate! I couldn't imagine going through life and changing your life for a rumor…I think that the book really does show that communication is key in your life. I really identified with Miriam, the

A Place of Peace by Amy Clipston

This is the third book in Amy Clipston's series, the Kauffman Amish Bakery series.

I read the first book, A Gift of Grace, and you can read my review here. But I skipped the second and jumped right into the third. (Don't worry, I'll go back and read the second!)

In A Place of Peace, we meet Miriam Lapp, who left the Amish community before she was baptized. Even so, the rift between her and her family is so great she might as well be under the shunning...

This is book #3 in Kauffman Amish Bakery series "A Place of Peace" by Amy Clipston.
I enjoyed reading Miriam's story, her life changed completely when a sister told some lies to both Miriam and her boyfriend Timothy Kauffman. Miriam felt she had to leave the amish comunity and went to stay with a cousin that had left before to get married. the cousins husband left her and she was thrilled to have Miriam live with her which would help both women.
Years passed and Miriam got a call that her Mother h

Amy Clipston is one of my favourite Amish authors and the third book in her Kauffman Amish Bakery series was a excellent addition, but I felt like something was missing. The spark that had made me rave about A Gift of Grace and A Promise of Hope just wasn't there. It took me a while to figure out what it was about this book that had irked me, and ultimately I think it was the lack of communication between Miriam and Timothy. There were so many times when I wanted to grab them, sit them down in a ...more

Its been a while since I wanted to read a book in one day. I did this one. I bought Vol 3 without having ever read Vol 1 and 2, I wasn't sure I would enjoy it. The book pulls you right in though. The setting is in Gordonville, PA which is outside Bird-In-Hand. Miriam Lapp had left her Amish roots for 4 years to live in the English world in Indiana with a girlfriend. Due to the death of her mom, she returned to PA. Coming back meant reopening and facing all the wounds and pain that she ran away f ...more

The plot line was forced, and the book had so little character development that events in in the story kept taking me by surprise. The narrative was repetitive, and several plot threads were left just dangling at the end. It's been awhile since I read a book this poorly written.

Another good story by Amy!!!

Amy has a knack for characters that come to life when you read her books. I know that this story is about Miriam, but I would have loved a little more about Lena Joy's trials. I felt that should have occupied more time in the book.

Typical of clipston books this is a nice feel good romance. However I would like to say the author's prose gets repetitive and boring which lets the pace slip. I was looking for a light read after reading Khaled Hosseini So it suited the purpose.

In the third installment of the Kauffman Amish Bakery series, Amy Clipston gives a great story of forgiveness and love following hurt. Meet two "lovers" that allowed another to separate them and the gift of forgiveness and love that brings them together.

Miriam left the Amish community six years ago when she thought her family and boyfriend, Timothy, didn't want her. She returns when her mother passes away and finds her father and sister has not forgiven her so she returns to her English life. It is a struggle when you know the life of which you have been raised and when you are really not sure where home is. Should she discover why events happened like they did or except that time has moved on without her. And how hard is it to forgive when oth ...more

Amy
Amy Clipston made a very clear picture of life for those who
have the opportunity to find out if their heart really is able and willing to choose living the rest of their lives in the Amish Lifestyle.
I really loved the back and forth thoughts Miriam and Timothy were having for one another, yet unwilling to budge toward reconciliation.
Amish Living is new for me so I have to say this really was a thrilling book to read. I am LQQKing forward to reading #1 and #2 of (Kauffman Amish Bakery)
