This is the finale of the series and it ended with a bang. I pretty much figured out who this other very strong power (different Power from the last book) was from the very beginning. And I made the correct guess. I loved the ending of this series, so much more than the last book. This conclusion redeemed the previous book. I felt it was justifiable and fitting retribution, but I don't want to give it away. This is a well-written series and I highly recommend it to the ages 14 and up. The Twilig ...more
In my reviews thus far for The Vampire Diaries, I've neglected to mention how undeniably spooky they can get. Especially if read at night, in the dark. And Dark Reunion only upped the fright factor. I didn’t know what to expect without Elena around full-time, but Bonnie took up the reins expertly, even if she was a little scream-y. As did Matt, who I'm happy to see moving on, and steely Meredith. The Salvatores also filled in nicely (though you can never have enough Damon, in my humble opinion, ...more

Oh c'mon! First 100 pages are boring, and other 25 are stupid! :S And at the end even Elena is alive...oh please, give me a break! -.-'
Even with distractions, I read this book in about 4 hours. It was totally awesome. I was thinking that the ending would be another one that I'd be totally dissatisfied with(*cough cough* "Pearl of the Soul of the World" from the 'Dark Angel Trilogy' *cough cough*), but it's refreshing to see that love can WIN! Here's a spoiler though. I just wonder, is Elena a vampire still or is she human at the end. And did everybody end up seeing her goodies? That's what it seemed like when they kept talking ...more

Ok, so... two words... MUCH BETTER! Haha. After reading the last Vampire Diaries book, I wasn't sure that I wanted to continue with this series. It was frustrating me for a few reasons. However, I am VERY happy that I stuck with it and have now read this book. Wow!

First off, Elena is finally showing an admirable side to her. If you have read my reviews on the other books, you know that I am not too fond of her character. This goes for the TV show as well. But, this was much better. She is finall
I will begin by saying: No, I do not watch the T.V. show, nor am I at all interested in it.

I am not an avid "boob-tuber."

Back to the Vampire Diaries series review: I feel in love with these books many years ago when I was still in high school. I am now 29 years old and to this day I feel the fondness with which I still remember the ending to this series and have absolutely loved it.

I have not read the semi-recent revival books that L.J. Smith has written. I think she is a talented author, but th

Per tutti coloro ch ...more
Re-reading this series as an adult, I was a little less enamored of it than I had been as a teen. But, it was never my favorite L.J. Smith series, anyway.

I am convinced that, were these characters real and I had to deal with them in my high school, I would have despised our series heroine, Elena, and steered clear of her group of minions. Let's face it, though, we don't read books for the sake of comparisons to reality. At least, not vampire books. So, even though Elena is not remotely likeable,
That was truly unexpected!
Okay, first of all,
You al should know that this fourth book is written because fans asked it after the third book.
L.J. Smith had meant it to be a trilogy.
Maybe that explains why it's all a fan could ask for in this book!
After finishing, I completely understand why this is made into a tv series!
Perfect planned plot, high emotions, strong characters and after all, teenage drama and vampires!
I loved to finally see Damon, Stefan and Matt getting along well.

Oh. My. God. That. Was. The. Stupidest. Ending. Ever. Written.

Can you believe this?! All happy and together again, and poor Damon left alone. Again. I wanted to throw up after reading this. They're all like "Oh, Damon, you're not much different from us. Please stay." and when he turns around and go, they all stay celebrating like nothing ever happened. Kill me now!

Don't even get me started on Bonnie. After Elena died, the book was in her POV and all of a sudden, every boy wants her. Even Damon l

I was introduced to the Vampire Diaries world by chatting with some friends of mine. I soon watched the TV-Series (both 1st and 2nd season) even before reading the books. Maybe it was a mistake because the TV-Series is wonderful, it immediately got my attention and I became addicted to it (and still I am … I impatiently wait for the next episode!). This has in part or thoroughly influenced my POV and my final judgement. In fact, when I eventually decided to read the books I got disappointed. I u ...more

**Please keep in mind that I write these reviews assuming you have read the other books in the series. In my summaries I pretty much sum part of the story up, which may contain spoilers to past books.**

It's been about six months after Elena's death and both Stefan and Damon have left Fell's Church. The town is slowly returning to normal. And although both Bonnie and Meredith miss Elena terribly, they have to move on. At a surprise party for Meredith's 18th birthday, the girls decide to try to co

Woo hoo! I finished the series! Who needs to run a marathon when you can claim to have gotten through the Vampire Diaries without throwing the books across the room?

This fourth installment, Dark Reunion, is by far the best book of the series. It is action-packed, a weakness of the earlier installments, and the writing is much better. Descriptions are more intriguing, emotions are more believable, and the characters are, well, still immature teenagers, but if you have gotten this far in the serie

I have complained about Elena countless times, about her shallow personality, her whining voice, her stupid let's-not-ask-for-help attitude... Now I found out, The Vampire Diaries without Elena is even worse.

We now follow the story along from Bonnie's point of view. We never saw that much from her as a person in the other books. As it turns out, this was for good reason. Bonnie is just a bit of a boring character. She is a support character, a secondary. She is not a main. She has not enough dep

bingung mau ngasi 3 ato 4 3 cukuplah..
alasan ngasi 3 tuh karena porsi Damon dikit banget...n tdk puassss..

tapi wlau porsi Damon cuma secuil tapi peran Damon tetap fenomenal n momentum bgt...Damon yg dingin n keras bgt ternyata sayang bgt sama Stefan..wlaupun awal ny Stefan salah paham telah menuduh Damon utk sesuatu yg tdk d lakukan ny..but Damon tetap saja datang saat Stefan sekarat karena Klaus..

dlm Dark Reunion ini, Elena bangkit kembali...

wlau porsi Damon dikit tapi q tetap

Ok-since I have already reviewed previous books in this series, I will keep this brief.
What I liked: Bonnie's POV on this story. It was a nice changed from Elena and gave us deeper insight to another character. I still like the pace the the series for a quick read.
What I did not care for: Still a lack of character depth and writing style could use more detail for the age group. The writing style is for that of an elementary child. Not a teenager. I wish authors would challenge our youth more!

A great story

For those of you that decided to read the books because you love the television show, be forewarned: the television show bears very little resemblance to the books. Honestly, this is the first time I found a show more entertaining than the books. Not that the books are bad, they're entertaining.
The Good
The characters start out quite annoying but the trials this group go through changes them. The author shows this through different character's voices in each book. Great plot developm

I didn't rate it 1 star because I kinda of enjoyed the first part of the book, but I'm seriously wondering how L. J. Smith thought this book deserved to be published. I "loved" the last three, and even rated them 5 stars because I love the story FROM the show and the books kind of have that essence somehow, but well, this one definitely destroyed any chance of loving it.
Can you seriously look me in the eye and tell me it is possible, even in this fictional world, that Elena comes bac

I think if one wanted to read a Vampire Diaries book, then Dark Reunion would be a good one. Even though it's the fourth book, it wasn't confusing to read. There is also a lot of recap explanations of the previous 3 books.
The Reunion, also known as Dark Reunion, is the fourth book in the Vampire Diaries series by L. J. Smith. This series has a TV series of the same name adapted from it, however the book and TV show contrast quite a lot. I started reading this series after watching the TV show an
