I always love this series but I particularly loved this installment. I loved the change of mystery and the interpersonal byplay we got to see, as well as a peek into Eve's emotional and psychological growth. This book made me happy!

I find books that have dirty cops in them fascinating. I think the reason why is that I find those dirty cops so offensive, as most of them are on the job for the right reasons and do a hard job. So when this book dealt with dirty cops I knew it would be a great job. There is nothing that Eve hates more than someone who bastardizes what she holds holy.

What I found so much fun about this book is the crime was clear and spelled out early on in the book. So most of the book was Eve and crew workin...more

In Death is one of the two series with m/f (sub)plot that I'm still reading. The fact that I read the other one only to find out what happens to the gay couple and that I've given up on the rest almost two decades ago is saying something about this series. The appeal is in the futuristic setting, competent police procedural/mystery plots and, of course, kick-ass heroine.

Treachery in Death is a better, more coherent book that the previous one. Here we see Eve cleaning out her own house and she do...more

TREACHERY IN DEATH is the 32nd book in the In Death series. Naturally there are books that I prefer over others, but overall I love the series and find that Nora Roberts AKA J.D. Robb does an awesome job mixing it up and making it still seem fresh. I know there are other readers who do not feel the same way as I do and I respectfully disagree with them. I think they’re bummed because Eve and Roarke aren’t umm . . . banging each other 24/7 like they did when they first got together. I actually li...more

Treachery in Death by J D Robb (aka Nora Roberts) is the thirty-second novel in the In Death series featuring our main character Lieutenant Eve Dallas. (There are actually more but they are considered to be novellas.) The year is 2060 and summer in NYC is hot and humid with no end in sight. Murder doesn’t take a break just because it is hot outside; neither do the murder cops who are responsible for bringing justice to the killers. This i...more

I re-read the book already, but it was so good! This story was so intense, with such a great ring of bad guys that you REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to see fall. The whole thing was just awesome! This was DEFINITELY one of the top in the series.

This is my 33rd "In Death" series I have finished reading. And I must say that this series highlighted the development of secondary characters. The emphasis is the bond between Dallas and her squad, how she would do everything for her squad and also her squad with her.

Highlights:
- Dallas was pissed on Summerset's friends (though never interacted w/ them) visitation, only realized that she's jelly and sorry w/ Roarke's i-understand-you attitude.
- Chief Darcia (debuted in Interlude) visited New Yo...more

This one has our detectives investigating some dirty cops in their department. It all starts when Peabody accidentally overhears two other detectives having a confrontation in the Department's gym, which they think is empty. Their conversation makes it very clear that not only are they corrupt, they have graduated to much, much worse.

Peabody immediately tells Dallas, and it's clear to both that these people must be brought down. Without knowing how far this corrupt network goes, however, they'll...more

wah ini ceritanya seru.....tentang menumpas gerombolan dirty cop.

Spoiler abis........

Untuk pertama kalinya Peabody menjadi primary. walo masih gugup2 gimana gitu tp dengan dukungan eve, peabody berhasil menyelesaikan kasusnya dengan sangat baik.

hanya karna pukulannya yg kurang sempurna yg mendapat saran untuk memperbaikinya dari eve, akhirnya peabody berniat berlatih keras.
alih2 pergi ke pusat pelatihan lain, peabody memilih berlatih di old gym kepolisian.

I love all of the in Death books, but this was one of the best. Some of them get a little gruesome and leave you much more on the edge of your seat as far as the safety of key characters is concerned. Because Robb does such a good job of having you identify with her characters, you end up feeling sick until everyone is home safe in bed. While I like a good thriller, I am becoming so involved with these characters that it was a relief to have a great mystery that didn't pose a direct threat (as m...more

There's little mystery to this novel - we are introduced to the 'villains' very quickly, but it's the pulse pounding action and the wicked psychological game of cat and mouse that keep you riveted to your seat. The crooked cops are set up masterfully and watching them spiral out of control as the noose tightened was delicious! I was very enthralled with how tight and well-written Treachery In Death is and I'm awed by the fact that Ms. Robb can still put together a slick novel after so many books...more

I always enjoy the J.D. Robb books. I've read every single book in the series and after 35 plus books, there is a comfortable and familiar rhythm in them that I enjoy. I like watching Lt. Eve Dallas peel through the layers of a case and then build it back up. The characters have evolved nicely, although the fact that every secondary character seems to find their sole mate is a bit of a stretch for me. I wouldn't mind seeing some people who don't have all their shit together and have to struggle...more

When Eve's trusted side-kick Peabody overhears a discussion between two police officers it's almost immediately clear that she's listening to tales of corruption. Peabody is scared but doesn't have a choice but to stay hidden and listen to them while they argue and mention that a troublesome informer has been taken care of. As soon as the coast is clear Peabody reports what and who she has overheard to Eve Dallas and soon Eve has discovered the remains of the mentioned informer and started a mur...more

This volume of the In Death series was pretty good. I enjoyed reading it. While the plot wasn't very complicated, this book had a good pace and showed some interesting interaction between the characters.

I thought that Ms. Robb did a good job of building the characters. Peabody is definitely coming into her own as a detective and becoming more confident in her skills. Mira is shown to be capable of making mistakes in judgment, although in this book, several individuals in authority made the same...more

I love the "In Death" books. I think that Robb has done a great job of creating a realistic futuristic society in which both the technology and the sociological changes are believable. I see things on the news regularly that make me think, "we might be headed in that direction". This particular book was not as well rounded as the earlier books. It wasn't that the main plot was not developed or that she misses things, because she doesn't. It was more that the sub-plot did not live up to the bar s...more

Treachery In Death is the thirty second novel in this series written by Nora Roberts as J.D. Robb.

Robb writes these books almost as fast as I can read them.

When I learn that a new "In Death" story has been published, I acquire the book asap, drop everything else I'm reading, and devour the new offering.

I've just got to see what the characters are up to, and this latest story does not disappoint.

In this latest offering, Eve Dallas investigates dirty cops with the help of her team--Peabody, McNab,...more

This series has bring me back time and time again. Treachery In Death is the 32nd book in this series and while you could read any of them stand alone or from any point really, I highly recommend that if you have not started the series to start and the beginning and really learn who the characters in this story really are. They have grown and changed a ton since book one. It always amazes me that J.D. Robb can make me feel like I am visiting old friends when I pick up an In Death book. I think t...more

What I really enjoyed about this installment of the In Death series was that it really highlighted the relationships between Eve and the people in her life and not just the primary characters either. There were great moments between her and Peabody, Roarke, and Mira, but there were also fabulous moments that really showed how much of a family she really has with Summerset and the cops she commands and those that command her.

This book was really a story showing us the differences between a corru...more

With this series Robb has started to shift gears from mysteries with a lot of romance to mysteries with some romance. At this point these are really police procedurals with a strong romance component. And I'm happy with that mix.

In this outing Eve is thinking she'll have some downtime after the uncomplicated case she and Peabody worked on concludes. Peabody, who was primary on the case, is happy with how things went but because of an altercation with a perp, decides to get some workout time in....more

The latest in the "In Death" series and, for me, one of the strongest. I'm amazed that a series can run this long and just get better and better instead of running out of steam. This story had Eve's partner, Detective Peabody, overhearing a conversation between two dirty cops. The plot becomes how to take them down. It doesn't sugarcoat the implications of this, which I liked. It made it feel more real. Robb has also brought back or reintroduced previous characters and given them a spin that ma...more

Okay, so I had the book bought and read within a 24-hour period. Fans of J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) will certainly understand. It’s astonishing to me that this is the 33rd novel featuring Eve Dallas and the gang, and the series is just a strong and entertaining as it has always been. Of course, there have been some books that are better than others in the series. This was definitely one of those books. The relationships between the characters take a back seat to the investigation here, as Eve...more

Treachery in Death by J.D. Robb
Paranormal Romance- Feb. 22nd, 2011
5 stars

Treachery in Death is the 32nd full length novel in J. D. Robb’s (AKA Nora Roberts) Death series featuring the indomitable Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her rich and sexy husband, Roarke. I have been eagerly awaiting this book. And once I started, I could not put it down! I had been bit worried since the last book was slow paced. It focused more on the main characters’ relationship and family while cutting out some of the myste...more

I know, I'm an Eve and Roarke (and crew!) Junkie. I'm biased, and I love these books with an unholy passion. So 5 stars. It was a great book. I loved the take down of the corrupt and dirty cops, I loved everything. I loved everyone. I loved Eve and bellamina, I loved Whitney and his Command speech, I loved how Eve's entire team saluted her. I got teary eyed.

It was great, and satisfying.
Oh, and Webster and his love interest, I enjoyed that pairing. I think it will be good!

It's too bad we have to wait six months for each of these books, although Ms. Roberts turns in a Herculean effort writing two a year. My ability to read them outstrips her speed in writing them, so I guess it's a good thing they make such wonderful re-reads. I have just finished reading most of them a third time, the next six a second time, and it was great to end with one I hadn't read before. Reading all 32 of these books back-to-back, plus the seven shorts, and in order is a treat you should...more

And she does it again...Lady you kept me up all night last night, couldn't put it down!

And poor Peabody is a victim again...

I dont know how after so many books, JD/Nora can come up with the good stuff, but she does.

And my favorite passage, non traditional as it may be I just lurved it

(From Jacobson, one of the other cops, as he is taking down a suspect who is going after Eve)

And I quote...(and I am still giggling after having read this EARLY this morning)

I've been a fan of the audio books of this series as Susan Ericksen is one of the best narrators around in my opinion. She really brings all the regular characters in the series alive for me. Roarke's lilt, Peabody's quips, McNab's geeky voice, Mira's calm. They are really distinctive and makes it a real pleasure to listen to.
There is not much mystery in this book as Eve already knows who the bad guys are. But this is still a very good addition to the series.

Such a fantastic read, another great novel in this amazing series.
I enjoyed seeing how Eve and Roarke have both changed so much in this book, I felt it was more noticeable in this one especially. How Eve is so much more affectionate with her husband and how she's managed to amalgamate both sides of herself; the cop with the wife. Roarke also seems to be much more trusting of Eve, and less likely to intervene, though when he does Eve no longer battles him on it. He's more aware that she will put...more

Eleanor Marie Robertson was born on October 10, 1950 in Silver Spring, Maryland, U.S.A. She was the youngest of the five children, also the only girl, of a marriage with Irish ancestors. Her family were avid readers, so books were always important in her life. She attended a Catholic school and credits the nuns with instilling in her a sense of discipline.
