This is the 5th in a series of books that I read over, in sequence every couple of years because it's done so well and is overall, so inspiring about human nature and the ability of people to reach farther than they initially believe they can with just a little encouragement. I also confess that the story's doggie character, Gabriel, is a charmer and I love the way he interacts with everyone else. Highly recommend the entire series. I've stuck with Snieoski so far, but after this book I have to call it quits.
The first quarter of the book was what I've come to love about this series: fun, fast-paced, mixed with the hints of romance to spice the read up. (I'm not a big fan of romance, but the light touches are fine with me). After that, though, everything went downhill.

I was excited when I saw that Mr. Sniegoski was releasing a new Fallen book! The other Fallen books were one of the best series that I have read and this one did not disappoint me.

Aaron and his Nephilim group have to fight even more evil and try to stop the end of the world from happening. I was not to thrilled with the way the story ended. It left it way open for another book. But, as far as I know there isn't one. It left you hanging at the end. You don't know how it ends, because the ending is the start of another adventure. I really wanted to k ow what happens after all of the end of the world stuff was over. This isn’t the best of all of Mr. Sniegoski’s books in this series but it wasn’t horrible. The whole point was a little sketchy too me. I ended up really liking this book, even though at first look I thought I wouldn’t. The book begins with a short confrontation between Aaron and Jeremy, one of the new Nephilim in the ranks. Jeremy is a hot-head and struggles with the angelic being inside him, and as usual, Aaron’s only reaction is violence. I’ve said this before and I’ll no doubt say it again – with Aaron there is no talking or trying to understand, one either does what he tells you to, or he lets his angelic side whip your butt. It’s tiresome, to be honest. To offset Aaron, there is Vilma, who has finally embraced her angelic side and brought under her control. She’s Aaron’s source of strength, but Aaron is increasingly unsettled by Vilma’s self-sufficiency. She doesn’t need him to protect her any more, and I think Aaron has to try really hard not to mind.

On the other side, Jeremy is all too awed by Vilma’s battle prowess, and as someone who wasn’t loved a lot in life, he takes a shine to her. The weird attraction Vilma has for Jeremy wasn’t necessary to the plot, in my opinion, and only served to muddy the waters further. I feel like the ‘love-triangle’ was inserted because everyone does them now, and I was frustrated with it. In addition, these moments took away from the few instances where we got to see Aaron and Vilma interact alone – we’re left with no clue how they are doing on a personal level and, despite them telling one another repeatedly that they love each other, I felt a huge disconnect from them as a couple.

The new battle fought for the survival of Earth is gripping, and I was emotionally invested in the Nehpilim’s fight against the Powers. I also liked the inclusion of Dusty, the naive yet surprisingly brave human who has been chosen to care for the Horn of Gabriel, the instrument of our destruction. Needless to say, he’s beset by every evil imaginable, who want to possess the instrument, and struggles to survive. I feel like the new Nephilim – the students, per say – were indistinguishable and rather bland. I did, however, like that the author showed us battles from their points of view so we got a feel for their characters, but over all, I would have preferred to get to know them better.

Another thing I struggled with is Aaron’s lack of guilt, misery, or any kind of negative emotion regarding the fate of his family. I would have thought he would struggle with it, maybe even become depressed, but he has seemingly bounced back and doesn’t have to worry about those pesky emotions getting in the way.

Thomas Sniegoski has yet again written an engaging, impressive novel with End of Days, and it has set up the next book, Forsaken, well. I really like this series, despite finding Aaron a little too eager for violence for my tastes, and encourage those who want to try a unique kind of angel book to try it out. Book 4 of the series, Forsaken, was published in January 2013, and Book 5, Armageddon, is expected in August 2013 from Simon Pulse.

I believe I have a short attention spun but it looks like I've also developed a selective amnesia. I was able to finish both books before this volume. The characters are still fresh in my mind but the things regarding some of the scenes, I'm afraid I already loose them in my mind. Hahahhaa. With all the books I've read it realy happens that I was really havuing difficulty remembering what the story is all about. I was over the moon when I saw that Thomas had written another book in the FALLEN series, considering how book 4 finished off. I kept asking my sister how could it just end like that? I have to know what happens...
Thank heavens there was another book to help feed my need for what had happened to Aaron and the gang.

3.5 Stars. There were some things I really liked. He didn't try to simplify the teen relationships too much, nobody is too perfect. Although he did get into the dreaded triangle territory a bit. But it felt like normal growing pains, and not that "fated" love so they don't have real emotions that are relatable beyond the fantasy level.

I liked that we got answers about why the Powers were so obsessed with hating the Nephilim. I've read a number of books where the Heavenly angels have gone bad (as opposed to fallen angels/demons) but usually it's just because they don't like God having chosen people over them or because they're too rigid and distant to understand Earthly values, this is the first time I've seen an actual good reason for it. Well, not "good."

I didn't love everything. I really loved Gabriel in the previous books and I didn't connect to him as much in this one, I didn't get his warmth or humor as much. But maybe that was because Sniegoski set the bar so high himself in his Remy Chandler series which I've read in between. Remy's dog Marlowe is a regular dog that can speak only to Remy because he's an angel; he isn't any more wise or perceptive than normal dogs so maybe he reminds me more of my dogs in his affectionate and food-obsessed ways. Or maybe Gabriel just wasn't in this as much now that Aaron has a lot more on his agenda.

I also wasn't too keen on some of the violence. I can't remember the first four books (2 books now that they've been combined) very well, but I didn't understand the rationale for the daily missions the Nephilim were taking on at the beginning of the book. Defending people who need it is one thing, but following that by attacking seems a little much, at least in the case of those trolls. There seemed to be an assumption that all monsters have to be exterminated that I missed, that they weren't created by God and don't deserve to live, and that it was worth risking the lives of the few remaining Nephilim no matter what the odds were against them, even if the victims were long since rescued. I just didn't quite get that whole scene.

I guess I'm just hoping that in the end the answer to every confrontation isn't to have a big battle, I hope that wits, compassion and morality play some role in the story that's fundamentally about the role of God in our world. It should be more than might makes right even if the side that wins is the side of, well, half-angels. So, well see what the author has in store for us. There are 2 more long books yet to come, sure to be stuffed full of fast-passed stories that will surprise and satisfy me. (less)

Sniegoski delivers another gripping story in the End of Days, fifth of the Fallen series (Fallen, Leviathan, Aerie, Reckoning, End of Days). His one-line summary of the main character gives you the idea of the plot: "An angelic prophecy said that a child of humanity and the angelic would bring forgiveness to all the angels who have fallen from the grace of God, reuniting them with Heaven."

The subordinate plot encompasses Dustin 'Dusty' Handy, weird name, who is the new bearer of the most ancient and powerful objects in all existence. The bad part of this is that the object was made for the destruction of the entire world and a whole bunch of evil, shadowy creatures are vying for its ownerships. So Dusty's basically running the entire book from these unknowns.

So the things I liked about this book. I liked that Sniegoski continues to develop new creatures, new evil creatures particularly, that seem to slither onto the earth and cause some serious trouble for the Nephilim pack. i love watching the development and maturity of the characters, especially Aaron and Vilma in their powers.
got slightly confused and slightly frustrated toward the end. I didn't understand how the end is supposed to satisfy anyone. Is there supposed to be another book after this. Because it says The End and I don't think that's a very good ending. It seemed unresolved. This fuelled my frustration because I want to know what happened to the Nephilims and Lucifer and everyone else. I'm not saying that they had to defeat all the evil on earth. I actually kind of liked that they didn't, but what happens. I just want to make sure everyone is good and dead.
So other then the ending, I pretty much enjoyed the book and would definitely read the next one, if there is one...(less)

This story started out with so much promise and I thought I was going to really enjoy it. I've just read the 3rd book and I'm about to slit my wrist. The writing is fine, but the story line feels like it's reaching. I thought it should've ended with the 4th installment. I am currently reading this book, and for me, it is very confusing. It jumps from one place to another and its hard to tell where they are. It will go from a war type thing, to their home. It doesn't make sense, its like the author thinks that you know everything that is going on. Honestly, I don't want to read it anymore. The book is 359 pages and the chapters are very long and I lose focus while reading. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

I really loved this up until the end. I'm not sure if there is going to be another book or not but there better be because if not then the ending was severely disappointing. Other then that it was just as good as the first two with more twists then I could have ever expected. Considering I thought it was over after book two I was pleasantly surprised to see this on a shelf at the book store. I look forward to more.

I didn't like it as much as the first 2, but I'm sure I'll get over it...personal preference I guess. I just don't think I love the direction the story took. I thought the last one would have been a good ending. I still think it's creative and I will read the next one...I hope I like it! It also felt like it took me forever to read it, but I guess it was only 4-5 days- I clearly am not used to a fluff book taking time. Ha!

I read these books a while back, waaay before they made it into a movie/mini-series on ABC family. It was good, but I had a hard time staying with it at some points. I liked the movie/episodes a lot better but that had quite a bit to do with the fact that Paul Wesley was in it.

This book was a good read. It kept my wanting to read to find out what happen next. Anyone who likes actions book would enjoy this series about the war between The Powers, the angelic hosts who were charged with destroying all things that go bump in the night. Before they turn their sights on the Nephilims, children of fallen angels and women. Which in turn may just bring the end of days.

I am not sure I like how this ended the series. It did not leave me with a feeling of closure. Instead it left me asking tons of questions. I really wish there was another book to continue what happens to the world. What happens to the Nephilim? What happens to the world? I was left with too many questions for this to be the end.

I enjoyed the continuation of the characters and their more "human" flaws, but I really hope that there will be a real ending soon. This just ended so abruptly that I almost wish I hadn't read it until I had the follow-up in hand.

I tried my best to read this book, and with a larger time frame for most books I finally completed this today. I usually don't have a problem with reading books, but this book was really hard to follow. The chapters were all over the place. I am surprised that this book was not sent back to have it redone.
