At this point I think I've read everything Jennie Marsland has published, and I can honestly say that each time I simply enjoy her writing. Her characters are vividly drawn, her settings are lovely, and I get pulled into the story effortlessly. Reading a Jennie Marsland novel is as comforting as curling up by the fire with a cup of tea.

You need to read McShannon's Heart (Wallace Flats #2) before reading McShannon's Chance (Wallace Flats #1). McShannon's Heart takes place before McShannon's Chance. Therefore I knew how things worked out. I think knowing as much as I did McShannon's Heart wasn't as enjoyable. I almost put it away but luckily I needed something to read while waiting in a doctor's office.
Very well-written book, with characters I liked. Rochelle (Chelle) McShannon might be falling in love with Martin Rainnie, but how can she be sure after thinking she was in love with Rory? (I was so glad she walked away from Rory - what an insensitive clod in his demands to her!)

Jennie's latest book - Shattered - is calling to me from my TBR pile!

I'm a teacher, an amateur musician and, for over thirty years, a writer. I fell in love with words at a very early age and the affair has been life-long. I write historical romance, drawing on my love of the Westerns I grew up with and on stories of life in rural Nova Scotia in earlier times, passed down by my parents and grandparents. When I'm not writing, I garden, play guitar, spend time with m...more
