In a school run by gangs, staying out was harder than joining. We knew who our friends were, and were careful what we said. If people thought we were haters, it would only be a matter of time....
Lines are clearly marked at South Bay High School. It's mixed territory for the Crips and the Bloods, which means the drama never stops.

Julia is instantly attracted to the hot new student, but she's never been the type of girl to score a guy like him. At a school dance, however, Eric makes the first move on Julia, and they quickly become...more

A story many of my students can get hooked into and they may be able to make many personal connections to the characters and story. It started off luke-warm for me, yeah, yeah gangs, parties, thugs, b*tches, lots of cussing...Julia goes to one of the toughest public schools in Brooklyn and manages to stay neutral when her school and neighborhood is gang-ridden. She has friends on both sides and can maintain that balance for a little while. I wasn't totally committed, but kept reading to finish.....more

Snitch by Allison van Diepen was a book that I would not have thought about reading at first. It seemed to be a book about a girl who belong to one gang and fell in love with a boy from a rival gang. Everyone knows one of those infinite books that are remakes of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. I like the original better than the remakes, well at least the books. But it wasn’t I read it because my sister said was constantly telling me you have to read I you have to. So I did when I was bored and...more
I believe that the purpose the author wrote this book was because she wants us to know that whatever we do in life, even if it's something that we know can mess up our life.. That it's not the end of the world that we can move on from it, and start a new chapter in life. Even though, our mistakes were already made and done we cannot go back and change them we can be positive and say you know what this is a lessoned learned it's time for me to move on and start a new chapter in my life. I didn't have high expectations for Snitch. Comparisons to Raven, another YA novel by Allison van Diepen, was inevitable. How would Snitch hold up to Raven, which isn't one of my favourite books but had an interesting setting and plot.
I've never read a book involving gangs before so I didn't know what to expect. But when you remove the gangs setting, you find that at heart it's a book about having to make choices. Not really original in that aspect, but it was written wonderfully.

I choosed this book because many of my friends read it and they said it was a good book and that they really lilked it and the book cover looks interesting so i dicided to read it. The genre of this book is Fiction. The setting is at Julias house and at her school and at her boyfriends house. The description of the main character is that she likes Erick so to show him she gets in this gang that he is in called the crisps. The plot summary is that in order to get with the guy she likes she finds ou...more
To be honest, I didn't like this book very much at all. The only reason I finished reading it was because it would bother me if I didn't finish it. It's not because it wasn't a well written book, but it just wasn't the type of book I would usually read. This book is about the life of a girl living in a city and attending a school both run by gangs. I found it very violent and hard to get into. The main character, Julia, is a girl who changes very much throughout the story. At the beginning she r...more

This book is about a girl named Julia, who lives with her dad in Brooklyn. Julia is smart and knows what she wants with her future, but sometimes knowing what you want is enough.
At Julias HS there are gangs everywhere; it is almost a way of life there, but Julia wants no part of the gangs. Her and her friend, Q, know exactly what they want out of life and being in a gang is not one of the things they want. Julia and Q see strictly black and white when it comes to gangs and they know there is no...more

This book was amazing! I really enjoyed this book, it was so detailed adn descriptive that i felt so much for the Bella, and what she went through. This book was really about making your own choices and trusting. Bella was always against gamgs and violence. But then she met Eric and she thought he was the perfect man for her. But you can't always trust people, even if it seems like that person would never lie to you. Bella was going through so many problems, just because she warned Eric her boyf...more
This book was great I didn’t want it to finish at all. The fact that she had to choose between love life and future was amazing. It showed that people in a book could really relate to people in real life. The one thing I would have never expected was her joining the crips and actually living it up. I also didn’t expect to see that Eric was an under cover spy. Its crazy how a book can feel so real as if you were in it. I didn’t want it to finish because of how good it was. The book had different...more
I was very disappointed with this book - it started out so wonderful in the beginning (I literally couldn't put it down) but from the middle to the end, the book fell flat. *Spoiler Warning*
I did not like the fact that after staying gang-free for so long, Julia joined one at the first sign of real trouble. I felt she let me down as a reader and as a female. I thought she would have been able to stand strong against gangs and violence, or at least found another way out.
And Eric did nothing to he...more

Snitch is a powerful, intriguing, and fast-paced novel. I quickly learned that the storyline was highly addictive where I literally finished the book in one day! Julia was a great character, she was strong willed and fearless. I was amazed at her courage and determination to not let a school full of gang members ruin her chances of college. I wouldn't be able to go to South Bay High School because you were under a microscope on a daily basis. If you looked at someone wrong or wore the wrong "col...more
The book Snitch written by Allison Van Diepen is a great teen book about a normal high school girl with regular teenage problems. This book is fiction but Allison Van Diepen based on some of the characters in the book on her students. She only seems to write ten books. Snitch is about a simple girl named Julia and a school run by gangs. In the school there is gang members al over the place. I like how the book is based on a regular high school girl's life getting turned upside down just because...more

In my opinion the book started off great just that it started a little slow but besides that going in towards the middle the main character named Julia went in to a gang just because her boyfriend did to there was a lot of violence towards the end and the middle. From my perspective in the beginning of the book there wasn't a lot of movement of what was really going to happen it just talked about how it all started and it started good just a little longer then I expected and but everything did...more

But like any other high school, what do we face? Drama. There are things that you are not involved with but it's all around us which you can't avoid. She doesn't want to have nothing to do with the mixed territory from the Crips and the Bloods, which defines drama in her school and outside world. It's not her thing. Until on...more

The Book Snitch was a good book that relates to today's society. I like this book becuase it had alot of topics that realte to the world today. One of the topics was love. In the world today alot of teens, and even sometimes adults get caught up in this theme called love, and they feel as if every time they meet someone that they automatically fall in love with the person. This book reminds me of the teens in the world, becuase anytime someone tells on someone they call that "snitching," and tha...more
I liked this book because it was a very interesting book. It had a lot of twists and turns that kept me interested in the story the whole way through. I never got bored of the story and everytime I read I never wanted to put it down. The main charcter is a girl named Julia who goes to a brooklyn high school with her friends and gets in the biggest drama she never thought she would even met.She gets involved with the gangs in the school, she gets dissed but her only true friends, and meets the boy...more
So I finally picked up a book in school and it has been the best idea. This book "snitch" has kept my nose in the book and not wanting to leave it. So far it has been about a girl named Julia who meets a boy named Eric and has been really into him. They both have this love connection for each other and seem to have alot of of fun together. Recently, there has been a problem though. Eric has joined the crips !! All along Julia thought Eric was the perfect boy until now. The crazy part is the pers...more
Snitch, by Allison van Diepen, might have been one of the most exciting books I've ever read. The main character, Julia, goes to the South Bay High school. The school is run by gangs, mostly the Bloods and Crips. Julia wants nothing to do with gangs, until she meets a new kid named Eric. He starts to get to know her when he joins the Crips. After getting jumped by the Bloods, Julia is looking for some protection. Will she break the pact with her friend of not joining a gang, or follow the school...more
High school student Julia DiVino made a pact with her best friend Q never to get involved in gangs, which, at South Bay High School in Brooklyn, are harder to avoid than join. Despite having a good friend who is a Crip, Julia sticks to her guns and has zero interest in gang life, but when she falls for the gorgeous new boy in town she has no idea how drastically it will change her life. Eric Valiente is everything she could have wanted in a boyfriend, but when he joins the Crips and is the targe...more
