Attenzione: non c’è niente di evocativo in questa recensione.

Ebbè, cosa volete che vi dica: L’unica ragione per cui spero che Murakami scriva sempre meno, è che non so più cosa inventarmi nelle recensioni per farvi capire quanto è bravo.

Mi resta soltanto elencare i motivi per cui non lo posso tollerare.

Ad esempio: non lo tollero, perché ha uno stile Elementare. Mette tutti i pensierini in fila, e li trascrive secondo una logica che più sequenziale di così si muore. E riesce comunque a coinvolger...more

Murakami zu lesen, ist wie den besten Wein zu trinken. Zuerst musst du ihn atmen lassen (666). Es ist wie der Luftzug, der entsteht, wenn du schwunghaft den Buchdeckel öffnest.
Fühle den Geschmack. Auf deiner Zunge, mit der du Laute bildet und dann zu einem Wort zusammenfasst.

Danach trinkst du. So, wie der Wein dir langsam durch die Kehle rinnt, so werden dir seine Sätze durch jede kleinste Windung deines Gehirns fließen.

An oft repeated phrase throughout the first two books of what has been described as Haruki Murakami's magnum opus by an overly enthusiastic reviewer desperate to get a quote on the cover of the book, and one that obviously works as a message to the reader confused by the lack of explanation for events throughout the novel.

I finished reading 1Q84 (surely the blockbuster novel of 2011) almost a week ago, but I wanted to collect my thoughts before I put fingers to keyboard. This is a novel (sounds trite, perhaps epic would be a better word) that remains with you for a long, long time after reading it. I’ve kept thinking about the story and how each event fits in the overall structure of the book, how clever and intricate the world created is and how I can picture in my head a world that doesn’t exist…or does it?

This is a novel (sounds trite, perhaps epic would be a better word) that remains with you for a long, long time after reading it. I’ve kept thinking about the story and how each event fits in the overall structure of the book, how clever and intricate the world created is and how I can picture in my head a world that doesn’t exist…or does it?

The ARC copy I read comprised of Books 1 and 2 (Book 3 will be published in the UK on 25th October 2011, I’m uncertain of an Australian release date). The sheer weight of the first two books (nearly 600 pages) will come as a delight to Murakami fans. For readers new to Murakami, it may take a little while to warm up to the picture that is being painted lovingly before you but persevere, the puzzle pieces soon fall into place. The book opens with Aomame (whose name means ‘green pea’, we never know her by any other name) in a taxi, stuck in a traffic jam in Tokyo in 1984. She is going to be late for her appointment when the taxi driver informs her of an emergency exit that will take her off the expressway back to ground level. He says a few odd things, but Aomame is not concerned about that. She takes his advice, goes down the stairs and off to her appointment – killing a man.

Meanwhile, Tengo is a young writer who is struggling to make a name for himself while teaching mathematics at a cram school. At a meeting with his somewhat mentor, he is asked to rewrite a novel written by a seventeen year old girl that has been submitted for a new writers’ prize. The novel, Air Chrysalis, is nothing like he’s ever read before. Neither is its author, Fuka-Eri, a strange girl who never uses a question mark in her speech.

Can you see the Murakami originality coming through? The cover pictured gives quite an insight into the main symbols of this book.

I don’t want to spoil the story for others – it’s highly original and will keep you reading all through the night but be prepared for almost anything to happen: religious cults, strange sightings of the moon, an older woman out for revenge, missing persons, murder, love, sex and all sorts of people – from big to small.

Murakami must be lauded for his ability to think of such an intricate plot – almost every detail is leading you further into the story and almost nothing is there by chance. It all combines together later in the second book with exquisite tension before the explosion of the bittersweet ending. Be aware that there is a fair bit of sex in this book but I felt it was needed to show where the characters were coming from and where they were heading.

On finishing this book, I hardly dared to look up at the moon in case I was in 1Q84! Everything else I’ve read since has paled in comparison to 1Q84. I simply can’t recommend this book more highly – it’s a beautiful masterpiece.

La sua straordinaria abilità narrativa e descrittiva si trasforma fin dalle prime pagine in capacità di prendere il lettore, sollevarlo di peso e portarlo all'interno della scena. Da questo punto di vista penso sinceramente che 1Q84 sia un romanzo incriticabile. Non lascia fiato pagina dopo pagina, tiene assorti e incollati alla storia tanto che diventa doloroso doversene staccare anche solo provvisoriamente. L'elemento fantastico sfiora la storia: c'è, è presente, influisce, ma è delicato, meno invasivo rispetto ad altri libri dell'autore (penso ad esempio a Kafka sulla spiaggia, dove il surreale è decisamente più protagonista), favorendo una fluidità eccezionale di lettura e coinvolgimento.

Aomame e Tengo sono due solitudini, alle quali è offerto solo raramente di incontrarsi. Entrambi si aggrappano ad un unico momento comune di intesa, che assume connotati onirici e mistici, per superare la propria tristezza esistenziale, in un romanticismo dal sapore tipicamente giapponese di rassegnazione al corso degli eventi votata però ad un'ideale. C'è sempre una struggente, dolorosa e quasi pura triste dolcezza in sottofondo a questo romanzo, come in ogni romanzo di Murakami. Viene mascherata da un atteggiamento freddo, cinico e razionale fino all'esclusione dell'emotività, viene mascherata dalle vite in apparenza senza un fine ultimo, quasi squallide agli occhi di un osservatore esterno. In fondo parliamo di due protagonisti quasi trentenni, estremamente soli, senza legami né intenzione reale di costruirli, che hanno una visione molto analitica e priva di sentimentalismi di quasiasi genere delle proprie esistenze. Ma pian piano si comincia ad intravedere l'altra faccia della luna, un'altra luna, quella solitamente invisibile, si intravede questa dolorosa dolcezza, questa dolcezza del dolore.
L'apparenza nasconde dunque una sensibilità mite e vulnerabile. Al centro del loro essere, in quel centro difficile da vedere ad occhio nudo, c'è amore, non vuoto, quella scena comune di amore che diventa il fulcro e la ragion d'essere delle loro vite. Pur restando in fin dei conti isolati l'uno dall'altra, da una parte i capitoli di Tengo e dall'altra quelli di Aomame, come se fossero storie slegate che ad un certo punto per caso si trovano ad avere punti comuni, perché anche questa separatezza fa parte in qualche modo di loro.
Noi abbiamo la possibilità di avvicinarci pian piano ai due personaggi, nell'anno 1Q84. 1Q84 in cui non solo è stato cambiato il binario della realtà, ma in cui anche Aomame e Tengo vengono cambiati dall'esterno e si modificano a loro volta dall'interno (perché il Grande Fratello, controllore e giudice, può stare da entrambe le parti): possiamo quindi vedere prima la loro corazza fredda e razionale per arrivare infine ad una profonda introspezione; ci spostiamo accompagnati da loro nelle loro diverse realtà, da quella esteriore a quella più intima, dal 1984 al 1Q84. Perché se è vero che di realtà ne esiste sempre una sola, è anche vero che questa è formata da vari livelli, da tante apparenze e da tante possibilità di lettura e scrittura. In fondo, se uno non alza la testa guardando davvero il cielo fino a scoprire l'altra luna, può anche non accorgersi del passaggio.
In questa spirale introspettiva Murakami si dimostra bravo, molto bravo: le lunghe descrizioni che usa hanno il potere di proiettare all'interno del loro mondo, di farci vivere, sentire e immedesimare con loro. Già, l'immedesimazione: fortissima, nel mio caso, davvero intensa, a volte la loro introspezione diventando la mia, il loro essere arrivando a toccare il mio.

Ora non resta che aspettare con vivissima impazienza il terzo volume.(less)

Ambos comparten un pasado en común, y ambos veran que sus historias se entrelazan nuevamente alrededor de una joven misteriosa llamada Fukaeri, con rasgos autistas y algo dislexica pero que ha escrito un libro llamado "La crisalida del aire": una fantasia acerca de cabras muertas, seres faéricos y mundos alternos, que de a poco empezaran a integrarse con la realidad.
No cuento más para no hacer spoilers.

"1Q84" indudablemente agarra, y bastante. Es indudable que Murakami es un muy buen narrador, tiene esa prosa absorvente que sin ser absolutamente elegante si es bastante nítida, en que uno quiere seguir leyendo, y cada palabra siempre lleva a la siguiente. Esta es una historia urbana con toques surrealistas (o más bien, francamente fantásticos), en una línea similar a "Crónica del pájaro que da cuerta al mundo" y a "Kafka en la orilla". Tengo en parte es el personaje estereotípico de Murakami, el hombre de mediana edad que pasa como espectador por el mundo sin sentir un gran apasionamiento por nada (Y que pese a eso, siempre le suceden cosas interesantes). Aomame es un poco distinta al personaje femenino habitual (en el sentido de que es un poco más ruda). Los dos son buenos personajes. Los pasajes más logrados me parecen cuando introduce algunas historias-dentro-de-la-historia, sobre todo cuando describe la novela que escribe Fukaeri, "La Crisalida de aire". Ahi es cuando uno siente que se le suelta más la mano; es la parte narrada con más soltura.
Es curioso como Murakami tiene esa capacidad de crear mundos absolutamente literarios: todos y cada uno de los personajes leen, en cualquier momento uno va a comprar el pan y le citan a Chejov, y por supuesto todos reconocen las citas. No es muy creible, pero supongo que uno no va a leer a Murakami buscando un retraro de la realidad.
Sobre todo al principio me dio la impresión de Murakami había estado leyendo a John Crowley cuando escribió esto, pero esa sensación después desapareció. !Q84 es una lectura mucho menos densa, más rápida, sin querer decir nada malo con eso. Pero lamentablemente, pese a lo mucho que me gustó el libro, sí tengo que decir que me ha vuelto a pasar lo mismo que con los últimos libros de Murakami: me queda una pequeña duda, un atisbo de desconfianza. De no estar seguro de si estoy leyendo algo de verdad o una cáscara sin sustancia detrás. Necesito que el libro madure en mí para estar seguro.
Y bueno, definitivamente necesito leer el tercer libro (La versión que se publicó en español incluye solo las dos primeras partes de la trilogia) para formarme mi opinión definitiva.

Finito ieri, mi è piaciuto molto e ora resto in attesa della terza parte.

Due cose ho trovato interessanti.

1°: il fatto di ritrovare alcuni meccanismi o atmosfere simili a quelle di La fine del mondo e il paese delle meraviglie.
Quel romanzo per ora è ancora il mio preferito (1Q84 comunque non è ancora terminato...). Mia sorella, che è psicologa, l'ha ampiamente utilizzato nella sua tesi di laurea, studiando l'archetipo dell'ombra dal punto di vista junghiano nell'opera di Murakami.

Tengo und Aomame gehen zusammen in die 4. und 5. Klasse. Als Tengo allein im Klassenzimmer war kam Aomame zu ihm und hielt ganz fest seine Hand, für ein paar Minuten. Dann lief sie einfach weg. Trotz diesem intensiven Erlebnis sprachen die beiden nie ein Wort miteinander.
Auch nach 20 Jahre erinnert sich Tengo, inzwischen ist er ein Hobby Schriftsteller und an einer Schule lehrt er Mathematik, an dieses Erlebnis und bereut es zutiefst nicht mit ihr geredet zu haben. Den Mut sie zu suchen hat er b...more

Tras finalizar la lectura del libro, ya puedo decir que el autor me ha cautivado y volveré a leer más obras del autor, como ya estoy haciendo con el libro 3... Partiendo de un inicio en que los personajes y la trama no aparecen claramente planteados, el argumento y la relación entre los personajes y los escenarios van siendo armados por Murakami como si de un complicado origami se tratara.

Partiendo de un inicio en que los personajes y la trama no aparecen claramente planteados, el argumento y la relación entre los personajes y los escenarios van siendo armados por Murakami como si de un complicado origami se tratara.

Y he descubierto algo de esa estructura, ese armazón ejecutando un ejercicio que suelo hacer: simultanear la lectura de un libro con la escucha de música de fondo (que no distraiga de la lectura, sino que la arrope). Esto, que de mano ya está bien así, se ve incrementado en un caso muy especial: cuando ese libro tiene "su música".

1Q84, de Haruki Murakami, menciona en distintos puntos de su recorrido diversas músicas. Destaca por su importancia en la trama el caso de la Sinfonietta de Janácek, y por eso me ha parecido que incrementaría mucho la ambientación del libro simultanear su lectura con la escucha de esas músicas, haciendo más potente el ejercicio de ponerse en la piel de los personajes. Emocionalmente es un ejercicio muy potente, os lo recomiendo vivamente en estos casos en los que la música es un elemento importante a juicio del autor.

Otra de las piezas mencionadas es el Clave Bien Temperado de Bach, cuya estructura dividida en Preludios y Fugas se cree que sirvió de inspiración a Murakami a la hora de armar su libro en los capítulos Impares y Pares, protagonizados respectivamente por Aomame y Tengo, sus dos personajes principales.

Sí me gustaría decir que no sé qué me llevó a pensar en un principio que esta obra pertenecía al género de Ciencia Ficción, cuando claramente pertenece al género fantástico, tanto por algunos personajes que aparecen como las situaciones y ambientaciones. Sin embargo, eso no me ha incomodado en ningún momento. Me gusta el estilo del autor, que sabe teñir de verosimilitud muchos escenarios que tienen una gran carga de fantasía, aunque algunas escenas de las crisálidas se escapen de esa norma...
Ni que decir tiene que recomiendo encarecidamente su lectura.(less)

Quando inizi a leggere un romanzo – o un racconto – di Murakami devi accettare sin da subito che stai per leggere qualcosa che sfugge alla realtà. È come una clausola di un contratto: sì, leggimi, ti dice il libro, però ricorda che tutto ciò che leggerai sarà onirico, surreale, strano.

Certo, come posso definire altrimenti il genere dei romanzi che scrive Murakami? Ecco, non lo so. Non è un giallo – ma c’è un killer in gonnella! Eh, ho capito, ma NON è un giallo.

Non è un romanzo d’amore – ma c’è una storia d’amore bellissima tra i protagonisti della storia, Aomame e Tengo! Lo so, ma NON è un romanzo d’amore.
Non è un romanzo d’avventura – anche se ce n’è parecchia. Non è un romanzo sociale, né di evasione, né filosofico, né storico, né western (!), né biografico…
Allora, che diamine, ma cosa scrive Murakami? Forse, per lui bisognerebbe coniare il termine per un nuovo filone letterario, onirico, surreale, strano, insomma.
Chi ci vede leggere un mattone di circa 1000 pagine in tutto e ci chiede ‘Cosa leggi?’ viene difficile spiegare lui la trama.
Ho cercato di raccontarla al mio fidanzato, è rimasto un po’ confuso. Ma sarò io che ho raccontato male o è il romanzo che è proprio strano? Ma di cosa parla questa roba, si può sapere?

Aomame è un killer in gonnella che uccide uomini che hanno inflitto pesanti violenze alle donne. È un sicario assunto da una misteriosa signora che cura donne e ragazze vittime di violenze. Una notte Aomame resta intrappolata in tangenziale e il sibillino taxista le suggerisce di passare da una scala d’emergenza che nessuno conosce. Aomame ci passa e da quel momento la sua esistenza cambia.
Tengo è un giovane professore di matematica col pallino della scrittura, nonostante sia molto amico di un editor un po’ suonato, non è ancora riuscito a pubblicare. L’editor però ha in serbo una sorpresa per Tengo: non è che hai voglia di riscrivere un romanzo? È molto bello, ma la ragazza l’ha scritto in maniera terribile. Tengo accetta e riscrive La crisalide d’aria, il romanzo d’esordio di Fukaeri, una diciassettenne abbastanza inquietante.
Quando Aomame accetta di passare nella scala della tangenziale, la sua vita cambia.
Quando Tengo accetta di riscrivere La crisalide d’aria, la sua vita cambia.
Aomame accetta di uccidere il Leader di una setta che violenta delle bimbe di 10 anni.
Tengo scopre che Fukaeri ha vissuto davvero il mondo che ha raccontato nella Cristalide d’aria.
Aomame e Tengo, che per una vita si sono cercati, ora forse si possono ritrovare. Ma non in un mondo normale, non nel mondo solito. Nel mondo di 1Q84, dove brillano due lune, dove i Little People costruiscono inquietanti crisalidi d’aria e dove nulla è come sembra.

Murakami qui dà fondo a tutte le sue visioni, crea un mondo spaventoso e inquietante, lo scrittore nipponico non si risparmia affatto. Non risparmia parole, gesti, immagini, suggestioni.
E ti trascina come il vortice di un tifone verso la conclusione della saga.

Murakami draws us into a world with two moons, a world that may contain respect but is without overt expressions of love. I'm sad to report that I didn't so much love this book. I didn't hate it but felt gypped a bit, and I guess that comes from all the hoop-la. I am however proud that I can now boast that I can read a 900 page book. This also means I don't have an excuse not to finish up Ulysses. Nuts. Anywhoooo, I'm going to be direct and list what I didn't love:

I finished 1Q84 - book 1 & 2 on Monday. Afterwards, I went running in the woods. I ran faster than I have in a while, and my thoughts went back and forth through my head, thinking of everything, anything and nothing at all. It then came to me, I was stuck in that world, Murakami's world. I was scared. I ran through the woods in the middle of the day, and felt scared. Figured the people I met could be anything. Like in Murakami's universe. And I thought that if I'd met a bear, I wouldn't have been all that surprised.

It took me a while to get into this book, a couple of hundred pages, actually. I was a bit disappointed at first. The simple, straight forward language didn't quite appeal to me this time. I don't think it was any different from his other books, really. I've just read the wrong authors lately. Wrong in the sense of preceding Murakami (I've been spoiled, by my number 1 favorite these days, Tomas Espedal.). And it took me a while to get to know the characters. At first sight, they weren't very Murakami like. They weren't quite the Watanabe character I always long for. But of course they were. I only discovered that after a while. The independent young man is there (as a woman, too this time!), but somehow that is not what the book is about.

The story is a strong one, the book a page turner, somewhat similar to Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World (I loved that one!), only not quite so abstract. It is a heart breaking story, one of broken childhoods, loss, loneliness. It's about love, murder, hope, about strong individuals trying to live their lives their own way. It took me a while to get out of the book as well, to get it out of the system (I'm not sure I have yet). I fell in love with the characters, the universe. 1Q84 is the sad love story from Norwegian Wood and South of the Border, West of the Moon, and it is the abstract world from A Wild Sheep Chase and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. And yet, it is completely it's own.

As always, I regret finishing the last Murakami book, and envy all of you who haven't yet read it all. Next year, book 3 will be published in Norwegian, and although I do see book 1 & 2 as a complete and finished story, I look forward to it. Of course I do.(less)

1Q84 o De que hablo cuando hablo de escribir

En esta primera maratón de 1Q84, ( libros 1 y 2 ), Murakami nos deja insatisfechos con varios temas sin resolver, pero nos brinda todo su “mundo” para que lo podamos disfrutar. Acá vas encontrar muchos de los temas que ya son recurrentes en Murakami.
Seguramente esta es su novela mas ambiciosa, y mas allá de su longitud, hay diversas lecturas dentro del libro.

Los protagonistas son Aomame y Tengo, ambos de treinta años, y la historia transcurre en el año 1984, en Japón. Ella tiene un trabajo normal, pero de vez en cuando realiza otro tipo de “trabajos” con ayuda de una afilada aguja (la encuentro demasiado parecida a Lisbeth Salander y ‘Los hombres que no amaban a las mujeres). Él trabaja como profesor de matemáticas en una academia y también en una revista literaria escribiendo todo tipo de artículos, al mismo tiempo que trabaja en sus novelas, refinando su estilo. Cada uno tiene su propio carácter, y se van alternando en cada capítulo. Murakami es capaz de dotarlos de una personalidad propia, que se va desvelando con el transcurso de la lectura. Pero hay más personajes interesantes dentro de la historia: Fukaeri, la chica de diecisiete años que ha escrito La crisálida de aire, y que Tengo deberá reescribir para su publicación; Komatsu, el editor que meterá en el lío a Tengo; la señora que proporciona esos “trabajos” a Aomame; el enigmático Ushikawa; la novia casada de Tengo; o el oscuro líder de la comuna Vanguardia.

Si bien la historia es buena sin más, el trabajo realizado por Murakami en cuanto a la estructura de su novela es brillante. La novela se divide en dos libros con 24 capítulos cada uno, como El clave bien temperado de Bach, lo que no ha tenido que ser nada fácil, siendo su estructura cíclica y repetitiva en muchas de sus secuencias, algo que a mi parecer lastra algo la novela, que aunque se lea de un tirón no es óbice de que le sobren algunas páginas. Murakami dedica demasiado tiempo a contarnos las pequeñas cosas que hacen los personajes, comidas, paseos, trabajo, sexo, charlas, que son muy Murakami, de acuerdo, pero acaban repitiéndose. Es el problema de basar un trabajo en una estructura, que la has de respetar hasta el final. Sin embargo, ya digo que Murakami es capaz de arrastrarte hasta el final con el don de su palabra.

La historia se vuelve más y más compleja según se va profundizando en su lectura, siendo el segundo libro especialmente interesante, más orientado a lo fantástico, y donde brilla especialmente Murakami. Destaco especialmente el capítulo del pueblo de los gatos. Hay elementos muy extraños en la trama, como la Little People, o las dos lunas, o el significado de la crisálida, o cuál es realmente la función del líder de Vanguardia. Pero sobre todo, lo que nos interesa es saber lo que pasará por fin con Aomame y Tengo. Pero para ello hay que esperar al desenlace de la historia, en el Libro 3 de 1Q84. Inconvenientes de las novelas por entregas.

Estuvo simplemente alucinante.
Durante todo el libro intenté en repetidas ocasiones comentarlo con Agustín, pero sólo recibí un regaño porque él quiere leerlo por sí mismo y no le gusta que le den pistas (¬¬).

1Q84 is not a good book. At all.

I cannot understand the hype surrounding this book. The storyline wasn't bad in itself but…1Q84 reads like the fantasy of a sad, balding (you'll understand) ageing man.

Leaving to one side Murakami's breast obsession-and, in fact, I don't think there's a single female character who's breasts I couldn't give you a detailed account of-it was the author's handling of female characters that truly bothered me.

Yes Murakami, yes. That is absolutely and 100% realistic, don't let a bit of thinning hair get you down.

That in itself though, fine. It takes all kinds, and Murakami's little fantasy woman is more humorous than anything. He could have being trying for humor-and the book did have me laughing for the first few chapters-but the more the book progressed, the more objectionable the author's portrayal of women became until it really, really bothered me.
By the end of book one, no curiosity about the 'Little People' or interest in seeing the actual coming together of Tengo and Aomame could compell me to stiff-upper-lip my way through another volume.

To be fair, much of what bothered me with this book could be to a simple clashing of cultures. Not even getting into how wrong I found Murakami's handling of the female characters; the male protagonist Tengo was ruined for me when it became clear he was running with his interest in the 17 year-old Fuka-Eri.
No matter how much you dig her breasts Tengo-and really, he creates near odes to them in his head- Fuka-Eri is a traumatized, mentally fragile near-mute with the mind of a child. Not o.k. Tengo, not o.k.
But then, I have read that the age of consent in Japan is what I would consider alarmingly low.

Murakami, you like breasts and you like to imagine in women a certain way.. fair play to you-we all have our little quirks and you'd be among many-but keep it inside next time. Please.(less)

Sin ser un gran fan de Murakami, me parece que nunca habia hecho algún mal trabajo con sus historias, siempre llenas de un estilo narrativo ágil, imaginativo, en ocasiones lleno de surrealismos, con personajes muy bien elaborados. Hasta hoy. Me parece que en el intento de crear una obra magna más bien nos entrega un bulto de libro, demasiado largo y con demasiado material de sobra. E "nella foresta dei romanzi, per quanto il nesso tra le cose potesse sembrare evidente, non succedeva mai di ricevere una risposta chiara. Era quella la differenza con la matematica. Il ruolo del romanzo, per dirla in modo sommario, era quello di mutare un problema, dandogli una forma diversa. E grazie alla natura e alla direzione di quel cambiamento, veniva suggerita, in chiave romanzesca, una soluzione alternativa. Tengo tornava nel mondo della realtà portando con sé quel suggerimento. Lo confieso. La nueva novela de Murakami volvió a atraparme y me dejó con ganas de más. Dos historias paralelas enlazadas entre los capítulos pares e impares del libro: la resolutiva Aomame, el desorientado Tengo. El mundo que se describe, no es una pugna entre la realidad y el sueño, ni entre lo que quisiéramos ser y lo que somos. Es un mundo donde todo se conjuga con una lógica sólo un poco diferente, donde existe la luna, pero son dos las que vigilan desde el firmamento.

Intentaré explicarme: La historia no me ha gustado demasiado, pero el problema (y nótese la cursiva) es que para mi gusto está pero que muy bien escrita. Esto que voy a decir ahora es muy, muy subjetivo pero Murakami me ha sorprendido muy gratamente, el fluir de su lenguaje me ha parecido realmente espectacular, pocas veces me he encontrado con lecturas tan bonitas de leer. Hay descripciones que he llegado a releer porque no quería perderme ningún detalle de lo que se me contaba, las comparaciones y metáforas me han parecido magníficas. ¿Y entonces cuál es el problema? Pues el problema es que el libro es lento como él solo, las descripciones llegan a detalles nimios como las comidas que preparan los protagonistas, y es que a veces me parecía leer una auténtica receta de cocina... Creo que Murakami tiene una excesiva facilidad para irse por los cerros de Úbeda, pero supongo que si no escribiera de esta manera no sería Murakami.
Pese a todo cuando llevaba algo menos de la mitad del libro me planteé abandonar su lectura y es que tenía la sensación de que la lectura no llegaba a ningún sitio. Lo cierto es que a partir de la mitad de la obra, coincidiendo más o menos con el segundo libro, la historia gana en agilidad y aunque pueda parecer curioso lo que voy a decir creo que ya casi me había acostumbrado a la lentitud del principio y no quería que las cosas fueran tan rápido. Vamos que soy un poco como el perro del hortelano, que ni como ni dejo comer. Ahora me alegro de haberlo terminado, algo sorprendente quizás para quién conozca mis gustos, que van más por el fondo que por la forma en la mayoría de las ocasiones.
¿Recomendaría pues este libro tras lo que acabo de contar? Pues en general no. Y no lo haría porque me da la sensación de que no es un libro demasiado fácil. Pero también es cierto que a determinadas personas se lo recomendaría sin dudar, sabiendo que lo iban a disfrutar tanto o más que yo.
Para el otoño está prevista la publicación del tercer libro (aunque no lo he dicho antes se trata de una trilogía que en este volumen recoge los dos primeros libros), y supongo que es así porque entre el primer y segundo libro no hay un final más o menos marcado, vamos que va sin solución de continuidad. ¿Y el tercero? Creo que Murakami tiene una buena papeleta por delante pero no me cabe duda de que saldrá airoso porque su manejo del lenguaje es asombroso, y porque destaca más en el cómo lo cuenta que en lo que cuenta. Lo leeré, que a nadie le quepa duda, y dejaré aquí mi opinión definitiva.

Por cierto que estoy convencido de que a no mucho tardar Murakami se hará con el Nobel de literatura. Yo tengo ya mi candidato para el próximo año.

En japonés, la letra q y el número 9 son homófonos, los dos se pronuncian kyu, de manera que 1Q84 es, sin serlo, 1984, una fecha de ecos orwellianos. Esa variación en la grafía refleja la sutil alteración del mundo en que habitan los personajes de esta novela, que es, también sin serlo, el Japón de 1984. En ese mundo en apariencia normal y reconocible se mueven Aomame, una mujer independiente, instructora en un gimnasio, y Tengo, un profesor de matemáticas. Ambo...more

Strukturiert…lernt man die Charaktere Murakamis stets kennen. Doch die Fassade reißt irgendwann, bis sie bröckelt, Staub aufwirbelt und Eigenschaften, Eigenarten und Verhaltensweisen zeigt, die man als Identifikation nimmt, um die Typen zu erkennen.

Klar…ist Murakamis Sprache, sich immer wieder aufberstend in unzähligen Wiederholungen, kleinen Hinweisen und das ganz Große, das man sowieso nie ganz durchschaut. Wenn überhaupt etwas.

¿Por qué estará enojada la Little People ahora? Me encontré preguntando cuando llovía torrencialmente en Santiago. Sólo me faltaba mirar por la ventana y ver si es que estaban las dos lunas: una amarilla y grande, la otra verde y pequeña. No sabía en qué mundo estaba viviendo si en el de Haruki Murakami o en el mío.

Murakami on an epic scale! What can I say? The man is a master storyteller. As always, he alludes to much while revealing little, leaving the mind to ponder and connect the various details within his world. Murakami has the power to turn a simple observation into a powerful and melancholy reflection. I was sucked into a world both fantastical and strangely believable, a place where anything might happen (and probably will).
