The latest in a string of Hollywood novels featuring Jackie's kick-ass protagonist Lucky Santiego, Collins once again gives us back-handed lessons in love, forgiveness, and where deceit and self-deception can take you, all wrapped up in Las Vegas sparkle. Like them or not, Collin's characters are so real its like reading a really fun gossip column, and this accomplished writers needs only a few strokes of the pen for us to understand each character from the inside out. She's not judgmental, either, and it’s easy to sympathize even with her villains--after all, as she ably points out, we are all the products of our heredity and environment. Rather than condemning and approving, I find myself sympathizing with the characters whose shortsightedness keeps them on a downward spiral, and admiring the ones who take fate into their own hands and create the lives they want.

And--you can learn from her. Her heroine, Lucky, is a survivor, good-hearted and generous, afraid of nothing. Lucky's husband, independent movie mogul Lennie Golden, is on location much more often then he's home with his wife. Does Lucky bitch and moan about being neglected? She can't, since she's too busy running her multi-million dollar empire that she started from the ground up, and making sure that all is serene in her beloved hotel complex, the Keys.

But--here's the thing--when Lennie DOES come home, Lucky makes him her top priority, putting everything else--even her children--on hold while they catch up.

See, she's never preachy, doesn't come right out and say that the secret to a happy marriage is putting your spouse first, at least sometimes. Does it work? You only have to try it once to realize that Collins knows what she's talking about. She's not only an expert on the Hollywood 'scene', from the lost and confused children of movie stars to the happening and not-so happening club life, she's an expert on matters of the heart as well.

And that's what's at the core of every novel--love, life, and family, when to hold close, when to let go, and how to move on. If you like your life lessons wrapped in shiny paper and tied with elaborate sparkly bows, Collins is a keeper.

Collins needs to stop. Or maybe I need to stop trying to relive my youth. I have not been able to read Collins' last two books. Like get past the first couple of pages can't read. But I thought "hey, it's a Lucky Santangelo book. There has to be something that will grab me."

I admit it; I am a huge JC fan. I have always loved the sleaze and glamour that her books seem to hold. Jackie Collins is without a doubt in my eyes the Queen of Sleaze! She wrote her first book in 1968 and has been writing ever since. Her latest book wasreleased in April 2011 and was downloaded to my Kindle as soon as I could get my grubby mitts on it.

I have always loved the sleaze and glamour that her books seem to hold. Jackie Collins is without a doubt in my eyes the Queen of Sleaze! She wrote her first book in 1968 and has been writing ever since. Her latest book was released in April 2011 and was downloaded to my Kindle as soon as I could get my grubby mitts on it.

We first met the character Lucky Santangelo in the book Chances published way back in 1981. She has since gone on to appear in another 7 books including this latest one. With a name like Lucky (only Jackie Collins could think of a name like that) you know that her life will be the polar opposite of her name. I have read all of JC’s books but to be truthful my memory fades as it was in my late teens that I started reading them. Having said that, you are brought right up to speed with Lucky and her past in this current book. Anybody having not read JC books before can easily read this as a stand alone novel.

As a reader you dive head first into the world of the Santangelo’s. You get to meet Luck and her husband Lennie. We also meet their eldest son Bobby and youngest daughter Max, as well as Lucky’s friend Venus. All of the characters have ridiculously amazing lives and with their wealth and glamour comes drama! Lucky herself is an amazing character that could never exist in real life. If she does, I seriously want to meet this ballsy woman who always gets what she wants both in her personal life as well as business. Lucky unfortunately manages to attract the attention of Armand Jordan, who is also a ruthless business man. Armand is used to getting his own way and goes out of his way to buy Lucky’s casino and resort The Keys in Las Vegas.

As much as the drama of all the characters and their lives is a tad unrealistic (at least in my ordinary world) it is such an escapist read that before you know it you are halfway through the book. I must say that as much as I love the Santangelo’s the character Armand was a truly despicable character. Jackie Collins never has been shy in being graphically explicit and this book is no different. If you are not a fan of books that features a lot of sex and drugs, then maybe this is not for you. Her writing style is easy to read and the chapters flow from character to character making it easy to keep up with who is doing what. In addition to Lucky’s family and Armand we also meet other characters that flit in and out of the book such as Max’s friends and Venus’ ex husband.

As usual with a JC book, it took me not time at all to finish the book and found myself wondering if maybe I should read some of her older books again. If you love sleaze, glamour, and major family dramas then the series of books featuring Lucky’s family will definitely be up your street.(less)

In many ways, this book was a relief to me as I felt that Jackie Collins was back on form with this one. I am, however, getting a bit tired of the Santangelo books. I read my first one when I was in secondary school, so Lucky must be about 100 years old by now. I've never really warmed to her as a character - I preferred the tension of the stories, and the peripheral characters. Let's face it, every Jackie Collins book over the past decade is the same as the last - just different characters. I decided to take this particular volume out of the library when I saw it was another Lucky novel. I have read every one of the Lucky novels so far and felt compelled to see what she was up to now. Also - how old is she supposed to be now?! I am assuming in her 50's but as with fine wine it seems Lucky just gets better with age.

I know this is cliche, but this book requires wine to go with all the cheese or a cheese grater. We read Jackie Collins purely as a guilty pleasure. Lucky is a character that we love! Goddess of Vengeance is as raunchy as I expected, plus so much more. I had forgotten how wild Jackie Collins novels can be, it had been a long time since I had read one. However, this was quite different as I got to listen to it instead. My first audiobook experience with Jackie Collins was quite surprising, as this was also my first time in actually hearing her voice. Although, I did find Jackie's voice to sound exactly as I imagined. Sydney Poitier sounds so soulful with his deep voice, and together with their cast of characters, they did a great job on this audiobook. Another first for me was reading about Lucky Santangelo, since the series can be read out of order, I didn't feel as if I missed anything by not reading Jackie's prequel to this book. I found the complete cast of characters to sound pretty realistic. In Goddess of Vengeance Lucky has her hands full, when Armand the billionaire prince shows up in Vegas, with intentions of buying her hotel and casino, The Keys, although she's not selling. Meanwhile her spoiled daughter Max, and her mixed bag of friends are up to no good, and unknown to her mother, Max decides to throw herself a bash, for her Eighteenth birthday. Later Max ends up involved with a man a decade older than her, and she also knows he is one of her mother's friends ex's. While Max lustfully dwells on her relationship with this guy, her brother Bobby has problems of his own trying to run his chain of night clubs, yet still maintain his relationship with his down to earth girlfriend, Denver. Denver is constantly plagued with doubts in regards to her relationship with Bobby, who at times seems to far out of her league. This book is full of non-stop naughty, erotic and lustful action that kept me wondering what would happen next. If you are looking for a book that will take you away from your reality for awhile,(that is unless your reality is like this book, than that would be a bad idea) Goddess of Vengeance will do just that, plus more. As this cast of characters can easily be envisioned, as you listen to each CD. I found myself taking guesses at who some of these characters Jackie portrays in her novel, could actually be in real life, many times throughout the audiobook. Jackie's style of writing makes it pretty easy at times to figure out who some may be, without pointing fingers. I loved listening to Jackie's voice and that of Venus, Lucky's friend, throughout the audiobook. Their voices are so unique, and lets not forget about the voice of Mr Poitier. The only problem I had with this audiobook was trying to distinguish between the voices of Max, Denver and some of the younger female characters. Mostly due to them sounding similar, when they spoke to each other. Maybe Collins should take this into consideration when chosing her voice-overs, by making sure voices are not similar to each other in tone, as this would improve her audiobooks.

When the disgustingly sleazy billionaire businessman/Middle Eastern Prince, Armand Jordan, tries to buy out Lucky’s precious casino and hotel complex, The Keys, Lucky quickly lets him know who has the last say. And we can’t forget Lucky’s gorgeous son Bobby and new girlfriend Denver, who are trying to work through there relationship obstacles.

It’s a little difficult to write a synopsis with so many leading characters, and I always worry that readers new to the series will give up hope, but don’t! Once you start reading, it is easy to identify and connect with the jumbled cast. I really enjoyed learning more about Denver and Bobby and where there story continued from Poor Little Bitch Girl, and even diving into Max’s character more was interesting to read about. There is no shortage of raunchy scenes and vulgarity, of course, especially when it comes to Armand’s character and his dimwitted view of woman. The ending of the book really picked up for me, and I couldn’t put it down. I loved how all the characters were slowly gravitating towards one location, and had to see how it all finished. I will say that I thought the ending with Armand was a little bit of a letdown. I would have been okay with a much less easy and way out for him to die, after all his disgusting behavior and lewd acts. But other than that, another delicious and frantic story to add to the Santangelo collection!

Drop Dead Beautiful, is one of my favourite Jackie Collins novels and so I was waiting on bated breath to discover exactly what happens next and to delve even further into the life of Lucky and her family. Jackie Collins is the reigning queen of chick lit and has been for many years with her signature look into the glamorous, rich and famous lives of the Hollywood elite. Jackie Collins has written twenty seven novels and sold over 400 million copies of her novels!

Lucky is a succesfull business woman running her high profile hotel and casino, The Keys in Las Vegas. The rest of her family are also in high points in their lives, with husband Lennie directing movies, her daughter Max about to turn eighteen and her son Bobby owning a number of hot nightclubs. It seems as though everything in her life couldn’t be better. That is until Armand Jordan arrives on the scene, determined to take it all away from her. A prince in his native Middle Eastern country, Armand is now one of the most successful real estate titans in America. He has no respect for women, treating them as play things, and everyone else with a lack of respect. Armand sets his sighs on buying The Keys and when Lucky point black refuses to sell Armand is stunned. That any women would say no to him is incomprehensible. Armand decides that The Keys will be his, no matter how he has to make this happen. The word is that “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” and what happens in Goddess of Vengeance will blow your mind!

When I heard that Jackie Collins latest novel would be part of the Lucky Santangelo series, I have to admit I was excited. As many readers will agree, Lucky is one of my favourite Jackie Collins characters. With her strength, independence and the power she exudes she is an iconic heroine for all women. I have always loved the character of Lucky, and her character in Goddess of Vengeance is no exception. Lucky is empowering to all women around the world with her strong character. There is a quote in Goddess of Vengeance which I believe sums up my love for her character and exactly why she is so relatable, “I’m a woman who took chances every inch of the way. I had to fight for my independence. Believe me, it wasn’t easy.” I hated the character of Armand, he is absolutely vile and does some really horrible acts within the novels, which may shock some readers. Of course the reader is supposed to hate Armand, and Jackie Collins always creates such believable characters for the reader to hate. I also really enjoy the way, that even though this novel is part of a series Jackie Collins manages to mention any important details from previous novels which you need to know about. Do not worry, therefore, if you have not read any or all of the Lucky series as you will understand the storyline without feeling lost. Of course I would recommend you read them all, as the entire series is enjoyable. The storyline is exciting, with twists and turns on every page, which make the novel easy to read while leaving you not wanting to put the book down. Jackie Collins raunchy and glamorous look into the LA and Las Vegas highlife is so exciting and I just adore the way Jackie gives her readers this glimpse into a life we would never normally see.

I have to admit that I was a little disappointed that Lucky seemed to be in the background, rather than the forefront of Goddess of Vengeance. Lucky’s daughter Max was featured much more in this novel than in any of the previous novels in the series. I found that I did not like the character of Max anywhere near as much as I love Lucky. Max is immature and seems to make decisions that make her appear fickle. I understand that she is young, however I do not think that Jackie Collin’s readers will warm to her as much as they do to Lucky. I have also heard that Jackie is planning to put Lucky in a backseat for the next novel in the series and focus more on Max. I hope that if this is the case she manages to make Max a little more likeable and more of a powerful character. I also found a few elements of the storyline a little too similar to Jackie Collin’s previous novel Drop Dead Beautiful and would perhaps have liked to see something a little more original.

Overall, I have to say that Jackie Collins has created another novel that will leave you wondering exactly how much of her novel is based on reality. Jackie has succeeded yet again in what she does best, which is creating truly escapist novels. Goddess Of Vengeance is a novel I could not put down and is filled with family drama, passion, revenge and strong women. I cannot wait to read what else Jackie Collins has in store in the future, whether it is another Lucky novel or not. In fact just so I don’t have to wait quite so long, I may have to go back and read some of her previous novels just to fill the void.

I have this karma to purchase books that belong in a series.
This was the case with this one.
i didn't knew lucky santangelo's timeline, and I started reading it with not much expectations, it sounded ok.
Even though most of the time it's like you're reading through rose coloured glasses, - i mean, lucky's described as perfect in every single way in every single opportunity! - you get hooked by the plot.

Another trashy adventure into the world of Lucky Santangelo, a total bad ass woman who could absolutely NOT exist in the "real world." I used to gobble up this series as a teen/young adult without a bit of criticism but I fear I might be a bit more educated now because the trite dialogue gets to me and the grammar/spelling errors bug.

I do love the intersecting storylines of the characters, even if you see them coming a mile away.

I have always loved reading Books about Lucky and this one was no exception..Mostly though it was about her 18 year old daughter Max who let's face it is not very bright..If she was she would not have been hanging around so called friends who treated her badly..I was a bit disappointed though in the end cause I wanted Lucky to get her justice..She did I guess just in a different way..

I'm at the end of this book and "Goddess of Vengeance" is AWESOME!! Jackie Collin's is definitely one of the best to ever write. Her books are so hot and heavy and you are swallowed up in to the story and never wanting it to end. I definitely recommend this book!

I haven't read a novel by Jackie Collins in a long time, so I had forgotten what type of book she writes. This was actual the audio version that I got to listen to, so it was a real treat because Jackie Collins is actually reading it along with SydneyPoitier.

This book is part of a series, but it is very easy to pick up the story line if you read them out of order. So, if you are looking for a book that will let you escape for a while, this is a good choice! The cast of characters keeps the book...more

Jackie Collins is my favorite guilty pleasure!! Many people are under the impression that they're just trashy romance novels. There is definitely awesomely trashy moments, but Jackie's also an incredibly riveting storyteller, and her tales are fun, dirty, raw and exciting. I often whine to myself that I wished she would publish more often, but I think that would take away from the quality of her books. And yes you read that correctly, her books are quality! Jackie does Hotel Babylon!

Anyone looking for classic Jackie should avoid this book as I'd say it's for diehard fans of JC and Lucky only. I enjoyed it mostly for Lucky who is such a fantastic character (though the Lucky/Lennie soul mates thing seems too good to be true most of the time). There was just too many characters I couldn't care less about though. And I like Max and Bobby but they can't compare or compete with Gino and Lucky as characters and as for Denver, YUK.

So:) Everything that I have expected, typicall Jackie Collins, but this why I bought this book in the first place. IMHO, a little to less about Gino or Lennie, actually a little to less about Lucky herself, and why is the title "Goddess of Vengeance" when Lucky did actually nothing?:))) Because she's a "bad woman"?:) Of course she's not bad. OK, so, this book kind of fell into my lap and I was pleasantly surprised. The story was fairly interesting, and while the writing wasn't that great, I was still extremely interested in what would happen next. This was my first Jackie Collins book, and she did not disappoint. I'm actually leaning toward picking up some more of her stuff- maybe the first Lucky Santangelo?

overall I liked it just wish it would have been a bit shorter but Definitely a nice light read.
Its a story about family ties, love , power , affluence and determination. For all I know I am really mesmerized by Lucky the kind of woman she is and what she stands for and the other highlight were of course Bobby and Denver.
oh and it might have quite alot of sexual material so for those who can't stand it shouldn't read it.

Goddess of Vengeance is novel with - power, passion, revenge, and the raging family dynamics of the Santangelo clan....... I really enjoyed the book................. I have to admit that I really did not like the price Armand Jordan's part where he was trying & planning to hurt Lucky ! I was worried that he might hurt her !................
I love all Jackie Collins books.................cant wait to read the next one..... :)
