In this book Ivy has yet again gotten herself into trouble and has a crime to solve. After getting death threats from the Braxton clan for solving and arresting one of their own, Ivy has decided to go on the run. Ivy took up her niece DeeAnn's offer to live with her in Arkansas in order to get away. While staying with her family she picks up a job as a housekeeper for a very rich woman named Leslie Marcone a couple days a week. Since she has been working for her she has noticed Leslie is very s...more
Having read the first book in this series I was so looking forward to the next one. The first one kept me in stitches the whole time, whether she was in the cemetery watching for vandals- all the way through to when she climbs out the window of a dirty bathroom in a junk yard. This first book was so well written and just had such an appeal and I fell in love with Ivy Malone just like she was a friend I had right next door.

"Aunt Ivy, for a sweet, harmless little aunt, you do seem to get yourself in an unusual amount of trouble." With her tiny frame and possum-grey hair, Ivy Malone is your typical LOL (little old lady) and feels invisible to most people…but she likes it that way! With her love for mystery stories and her mutant curiosity gene, Ivy is just thrilled that people seem to look right through her, for it allows her the chance to probe into the strange occurrences that seem to dog her every step and to add...more
I like Ivy. We seem to have a lot in common. although in this book she's a little too eager to share her thoughts about who- done-it, which makes her more busybody/gossip than I'd like. In this book Ivy is spending the summer at the home of her niece. She's had to leave her hometown for a while because the evil Braxtons have vowed to do her in in retaliation for her sending their relative to prison (see book #1--Invisible). Things don't prove any safer this time when she takes a job with a snoot...more
This is book two in the Ivy Malone series. Ivy is an 80 year old woman who seems to find herself involved in murder cases. She is a "plucky" lady with a christian belief system which she talks about at different points in the book. Following is an example.
"One night one of them was talking about God never abandoning his people. Always being there for them. He had some Bible verse, of course."
"Perhaps the one in Hebrews: 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"
"Do you belive that?"

For a free or very inexpensive book, this was fine. I would definitely call it light reading, but pleasantly so. In this second in the series novel, Ivy Malone needs to leave her home because the Braxtons have vowed to kill her. This vow came due to her providing testamony in the first book, Invisible, that led one member of the Braxton clan to go to prison. The action moved along nicely and there was a nice bit of excitement, as well as a "surprise" guilty party, at the end. Ivy is likeable as...more
Ivy Malone is back! Ever think a gray haired little old lady (LOL) could get into so many jams? Well, Ivy Malone can! When Drake Braxton threatens to do harm to Ivy she hightails it out of town but trouble seems to follow her everywhere she goes. So does her mutant curiosity gene. While hiding out from the Braxtons, Ivy finds herself thrown into another mystery that she can't help but investigate. When one of her neighbors is murdered, Ivy goes searching for clues. Will she solve it or will she...more
These are another fun series. Ivy has gone to her nieces to stay since the Braxton's are after her for the arrest of their brother. She thinks she can get away for a while and maybe they won't find her.

another mystery for ivy malone no matter where she goes or what she does she gets into some kind of fix. awesome read. in this one ivy goes to keep her niece company so she can finish school in the states. while there she grts bored and goes to work for a uppity loner who treats her as a servant not a person. once again finding her dead ivy gets tangled up in her investigation as a suspect. must read to see where she ends up this time.
I do enjoy Lorena McCourtney's writing. The two I have read were entertaining and easy to follow. The whole "Braxton's are after me" and paranoia is getting annoying. I think she could have a better story without it. That's why I only gave 3 stars. I think just an LOL detective would keep me reading. I really like Ivy, just the paranoia seems a bit too much to me. I will keep reading the series but I'm not in hurry to find out what happens next.
Just as delightful as Book 1, Invisible. Her "mo" is LOL and stands for little old lady, not laugh out loud. Her move to Arkansas to stay out of harm's way doesn't work as well as planned. The past troubles in Missouri continue to follow Ivy Malone. Those past troubles don't get solved in this book either; but the big "M" at the lake is solved.
Nothing will prevent me from following McCourtney's ideas.

This is defintely a cozy mystery. If you like Murder She Wrote or Miss Marple mysteries, Ivy Malone will be right up your alley. On the run from the Braxtons, who are trying to get her for putting their brother in jail, she hides out at a relative's home in the Ozarks where she once again finds herself embroiled in murder. Ivy is fun and witty and lives up to her reputation as a LOL (Little Old Lady).
I enjoyed this book as much as the first. It might be more appealing to a younger set because there are teenage girls in the story. It's nice to read something without the "F" word scattered about, and stories that have a moral high ground, and a heroine who is a believer. But in these stories, intrigue and mystery are just as exciting as other books of this type.
Lorena McCourtney does it again! This is another great light-hearted mystery that will draw you in and have you giggling from time to time. Ivy Malone could be anyone's neighbor, anyone's grandmother, anyone's friend who just happens to get mixed up in murder investigations. I think I would like to hang out with Ivy! she definitely leads an interesting life!
I love this series. It's easy and fun summer reading, reminds me a lot of Miss Marple and this second one was a lot less predictable as the first one. You can't help but like Ivy, the main character, this little old lady that somehow gets caught up in the middle of all sorts of crime and mayhem, mostly by accident and due to her self-proclaimed "mutant curiosity gene".
I'm accustomed to the first book in the series being the best and the books after not being as good, and unfortunately that was the case with this book. Some of the sparkle of the main character remained, but I found that some of the elements from the first book were missing, such as the main character's overriding fear that she was becoming invisible. I.e., the story became plot driven instead of character driven. I still liked the character but thought book one was a lot stronger. (Grade: "C+"...more

Kudos to Mrs. McCourtney. Not only did this book provide a bit of humor, but it also provided a mystery. This is the first mystery novel I've read in a long time that I didn't figure out the murderer before it was revealed by the author. I just love Ivy Malone as a character, and after meeting the author in person, I will forever picture Mrs. McCourtney as Ivy Malone.
This was a quick read. Who would think that a little old lady would make should a great detective. Ok I know you are saying, "What about Miss Marple?" I loved her character also. Maybe I'm getting to close so that age myself (almost 55). I've started book 3 in the series and I'm loving that one also.
This is a really cute book. I enjoyed it very much. It is not very deep or profound but fun all the same. Ivy Malone is a LOL (little old lady) who seems to find herself involved in a murder (again). She can't resist the urge to find out who the murderer is and soon finds herself a target. Quick fun read.
Ivy Malone's at it again! I picked up "On the Run" at the library yesterday and am settling in to give it a good read, because I couldn't wait after finishing "In Plain Sight"! I just enjoy the humor and wit in each of these books. A book is real to me when I can hear the character's voice in my head, or see exactly what they're up to, and these books are real!

The second book in the Ivy Malone series brings in new characters and new developments while still referring to the original relationships. Great reading, lovable characters, interesting settings. Read it in digital form.

This is book two in a new series. The heroine is a LOL (little old lady) who is an amateur sleuth. She gets herself into all kinds of trouble but always ends up solving the case. For readers looking for squeaky clean literature, this answers that need. Nothing objectionable in it at all. It's a fun, light read. It's an E book. I'm not sure it's available in hard copy.

Yes, indeed, it was an unputdownable. I should have stopped when I was ahead, but nooooo, I had to see what was going to happen & then … then it took a totally different turn. Oh. My. Gosh. I didn't see the ending coming AT ALL!!!
And I LOVE Ivy Malone. I can just totally relate to her - except I haven't been 102 pounds since high school, sigh. On the bright side, I'm no Dumpling either, hehe.
