It is so hard for me to review books like this. Humor is so, so subjective. I know that I would have loved this book if it had been my kind of humor. But, alas, it wasn’t. What should have made me giggle instead left me rolling my eyes or gritting my teeth. What makes it so hard for me to write this review is that some of the things that irritated me might have pleased me in a book that I found funnier. Kelsey Morningstar is in charge of Dante Clinic as a psychotherapist. One of her patients is Damien, who is spends most of his time in his cage nude. Kelsey has empathic abilities which help her with her job. Kelsey appreciates that Damian is a sexy man and wants to help him. He has amnesia and wants out but has nowhere to go.

To complicate matters, Damian thinks he is a werewolf and Kelsey doesn’t believe him. When he claims her and gets rescued, he turns out to be the prince of all the werewolves. That’s when things get really interesting.

Must Love Lycans by Michele Bardsley is a sexy, funny, and exciting addition to her Broken Heart, Oklahoma series. I loved Kelsey’s character; she’s trying to be rational but she’s in way over her head and doesn’t know it. She only knows she wants to help Damian.

When we first meet Damian, he is running on pure instinct. He knows his mate is Kelsey and that he’s a werewolf. He also knows he has to get out of the cage he’s in. Unfortunately, what Damian doesn’t remember is what could kill him. Plus, he isn’t the only one who wants Kelsey. He’s going to have to get free fast and recover his memory before it’s too late.

The passion and heat between Kelsey and Damian just leaps off the pages in this book. Ms. Bardsley has written some great werewolves in this book and I hope we get to meet them in the future. This is the first book I’ve read in the Broken Heart, Oklahoma series but it sure won’t be my last. The blend of romance and humor in this book was amazingly well done and I want more!

The problem is is that when Damien bit Kelsey he started the change in her – which has never happened before – werewolves are born, not made. Yet Kelsey’s boss injected her with something that is fighting the change and no one knows if she’s survive or not. There are things that can be done to save Kelsey’s life but neither Damien nor Kelsey are sure that they can be accomplished in enough time to save her life.

Let me start with Damien and Kelsey’s relationship. I really liked them together. They had a great chemistry and Damien seemed that he was a more light-hearted person when he was with her. He tended to keep people at arm’s length and I loved how Kelsey just flat out told him that he couldn’t be “statue man” with her. He just had to come clean with his thoughts and feelings.

The other parts of the book were darker than previous Broken Heart books I’ve read. There were new prophesies that had to be dealt with and the issue of Damien and his brother’s birth and coming clean about who his parents were. We also were privy to Kelsey’s volatile relationship with her mother and frankly I wasn’t too impressed with it. I felt that it was not a part of the book that furthered the story and I wasn’t sure why it was brought up. Yes, Kelsey had a history with her mother that was bad but furthering the bad blood didn’t do anything for me. There was definitely humor in the story as we’re used to from Bardsley but not quite as much.

Overall it was a good story and worth reading, especially if you’ve been reading the whole series. Hopefully we’ll get to hear more about Drake and Darrius (Damien’s brothers) in future books.

This is the newest book in the series but I didn't realize that when I started to read it. I found that I wasn't confused or left feeling behind in the story. I've never read anything by Michele Bardsley but I will definitely be reading more of her books. I loved the humor in the book and thought that Kelsey Morningstone was very funny. I was so excited to get my hands on the newest Broken Heart novel from Michele Bardsley!!

I've read a few serious urban fantasy novels, and a few dark paranormals as well. So this book was a breath of fresh air! Every now and then, it's nice to read a book that can bring a smile to your face, and make you chuckle, as it draws you in to the story!

I've read a few serious urban fantasy novels, and a few dark paranormals as well. So this book was a breath of fresh air! Every now and then, it's nice to read a book that can bring a smile to your face, and make you chuckle, as it draws you in to the story!

A little back history of the Broken Heart novels:

Broken Heart is a town where a number of it's citizens were bitten by a rogue vampire in one night. The Consortium, made up of vampires and a number of other paranormal beings, had come in to save these people.. as well as to buy up property and businesses. They wanted to create a town in which they could be themselves, instead of having to be in hiding. A number of these vampires, and other creatures, ended up falling for some of the "turnbloods" (the term they use for newer vampires), which made for some fun reading! There were bad guys, too, in the stories, both vampiric and human, and even some deities get in the act.

There are some werewolves who help protect the vampires, and the head of the security detail in Broken Heart is Damien, the eldest of 3 triplet brothers. At the beginning of this story, he has amnesia (and is "gloriously naked") and has just been placed in the care of the Dante Clinic, where psychotherapist Kelsey Morningstone has just acquired him as a patient. Falling for a patient who thinks he's a werewolf, while she's trying to get past his anger to the cause of his delusions, makes it hard for her to be maintain her professional equilibrium. On top of everything else, her new boss, Dante, wants more from her than a professional relationship as well! When Damien bites her shoulder to mark her as his... something starts happening to Kelsey...

That's all you get for a tidbit of this story! We do get to find out more of Damien's and his brothers backgrounds, and Kelsey has some interesting family issues as well! A very enjoyable read, and once the story moves over to Broken Heart, we get to see some familiar faces again!

I was so happy to read the author's note hinting that there are more stories to tell of the residents of Broken Heart! I will be anxiously awaiting them!! :-)(less)

The Broken Heart series by Michele Bardsley has had such great longevity. This is not a series you can pick up with this book, you do need to go back and start from the beginning. You will not be sorry that you did because this series is full of humor, enchanting characters, great story lines, and some hot sex thrown in to spice it up (in a very good way). RAWR!!! All that long hair-yummy!

There is no hiding the fact that Kelsey is quite smitten with Damian right off the bat, but her need to maintain her professional demeanor especially after her previous work related failures have her keeping her personal feelings and thoughts in check. Damian doesn’t make it easy, though. When she has her first one on one meeting with him, he continually sniffs at her and when he leans over and kisses her, she lets him. Damian tells Kelsey that her scent reminds him of “home” and because she’s dealing with an amnesiac, she goes with it. For Damian, however, there is much more to his just liking how she smells. When he learns that Kelsey is scheduled to have dinner with Jarred Dante, he breaks out of his room, finds Kelsey and bites her. He may have amnesia but his basic instincts come through; Jarred is a threat and Damian wants Kelsey for himself.

What follows is a fabulous, joyful and often laugh out loud trip to Broken Heart, OK. Kelsey is a human, albeit with emphatic abilities. She’s clueless about the paranormal world that resides right alongside the world she knows. She gets a quick education, though, when complications arise from the bite Damian gives her. When Damian regains his memory, Kelsey is tossed head first into the world of vampires and werewolves. Apparently Damian, who he really is, and what he means to his people, is part of a prophecy and Kelsey has an important role in it as well. It will take everything she has to do what she’ll need to do to save Damian, even at the risk to herself.

I loved this book. It is so not your typical dark paranormal filled with angst and blood and gore. I can’t believe I haven’t read this author before, even though she’s been recommended to me a time or two. I completely adored the characters and the many comedic elements Ms. Bardsley weaves into her story. It’s very much on the light side, even though there are a few moments where you are like, “What???” only to turn a page or two and learn that all is well. At one point I was feeling like Kelsey accepted the paranormal world and her new role in it too easily. I got over it-and just read on enjoying the spirit in which the author writes. As this is book no. 8, I worried that I’d feel lost, but the author includes two things in the beginning: a note from the author and the Legend of the Lycans, which was enough background to set me up to enjoy this story as a standalone.

At some point, I’d very much like to read the backlist of this series. I expect to be charmed and entertained by them all. I especially hope the author has plans for a book devoted to Jarred Dante-he made quite an impression on me. If you like paranormal that’s a little lighter than the norm; I think you’d enjoy Must Love Lycans.

Hmmm... At some point, one must accept that a series has run its course. The author has managed to hold that off for maybe another book or two but really - using new prophesies to change Patsy's role (and thus add another book or two) isn't really fooling anyone.

Latest in the Broken Heart, Okla series. In this one we start out with having finally located Damian, the missing Royal Lycan. He is in an insane asslym with amnesia. His therapist is an empath who, surprise, surprise, turns out to be his mate.

Not quite as fun a read as many of the others, but still an interesting take on what's going on in the Broken Heart world.

Personally I'd check this out of the library, since I think that the series is starting to get a tad stale, but its still well worth...more

I do love these books now. They're frivolous and easy reads, but they do have decent plots. Damian has been one of the more interesting characters, so I was happy to see him find his mate. Above all, I couldn't possibly be any happier about Patsy being taken down a notch than I already am. I'm sick to death of her anyway. That fact alone is what moved this from 4 stars to 5. ;)

I loved reading this story!! This book is written in first person POV from the heroine and her point of view is so freaking funny. Not the best in the Broken Heart series, but an interesting read.
Stoic Damian, head of security gets kidnapped by ETAC and rescued by the mysterious Jared Dante. Dante runs a clinic, and his head of psychiatrics is Kelsey. The Vederes prophecies shows that Damian will become the king of the Lycans and Kelsey will be his mate. I did not think I would like this but I really did. It was light but not stupid and too cute. The characters were very likeable and well done. The plot was good but I think I missed a few of the finer points because I jumped in, in the middle of the series but not enough that I felt like I was lost.

I think I may have to go back and read the earlier ones.

Between 3 and 4 stars. Funny, fast-paced, passionate writing with a snarky first person POV heroine. There were times when the narrator's mercurial mood shifts grated on my nerves. I guess that's one of the more general things I dislike about first person POV - the reader is really entrenched in the narrator's head, whether we like it or not. This book takes place 8 years after the last book. I spent half the time confused because I wasn't sure why Damian was locked up and scarred for most of the book. He was head of security last time a book took place. This sort of threw the whole experience off for me. I don't like to be confused as I am trying to read, too many thoughts running through my head means I have to re-read passages or even whole pages. While I liked this book I did have one beef with the book. It was the way that Kelsey so quickly accepted all the paranormal aspects. When Damien first showed up and she thought he was playing at being a werewolf she was so cynical, yet when things were out in the open she just went with it.
